As long as they "look" white when they are on your OK happy

If you want brighter, then you need 100W jobbies (They appear to be std 55W) or a proper HID kit for the ultimate in lighting.

They should look nice and funky though Vics smile

PIAA are the best ones to get by a mile! There about £60 but look really genuine! There the only ones I would recommend!

By law your, and for the MOT, headlights are ment the throw out a "white" light, not blue, green, red etc, also, your not supposed to have any that are more than 55/60W

Get them if u want vixk,These just appear as super white light, these WILL NOT flip purple at certain angles like Xenon headlights on new cars do! They just use the xenon gas but in a standard bulb with a standard power supply, They create a more bright and more white light yet they are still 55W. U can get loads of these sorts of things. I have RING Ultra xenon lights in my front cluster, these are 60% brighter pure white lights that are only 60W,meaning they are legal. U can get bright halongen lights but they are 100Watts and ILLEGAL. Hope this helps. If u want the purple/green tinge get a special filter inside ur headlight cluster, i have an idea for that if u wanna know

how much are them proper xenon ones that are so white that they're purple then??
Posted By: scoop Re: XENON Headlight Bulbs - 22nd Apr 2005 3:40pm
theyre not "so white theyre purple"

They are not just bulbs, they are a glass bowl in a holder and the bulb goes in there, they have special Power supply units as they run on thousands of watts.

Put it this way...........On most new cars these days xenon upgrade is a £700 option on the spec list

You can buy a Proper HID Conversion off E-Bay for less that £200 smile

They use less power (Circa 35W) and have no fillament so last the life of the car.

DOnt buy them off ebay!!

i bought some and 2 weeks later one had blown!!

I might be wrong but i think scooby had the same problem. I thought they would be a cool mod that looks cool for cheap...but the bulb blew after like a month!

Did you send them back???

The link above offers a 6 month warrenty, and Im sure other sellers will offer similar due to the life expectancy of the system.

They look like a load of bollocks to me, they ARE NOT the xenon lights that me and ad are on about, proper xenon lights cost a mint and look like those on the new cars. Those there are ****e, even the site says they last 2 years average!! not 4eva. Nothing lasts forever and never will

E-Bay ones blow within 2 weeks smack

Ive got some Halfords bulbs in mine and they look great. Close up theyre white, but from a distance they have a very slight tint to them. Theyre a lot brighter than normal ones......the only drawback is theyre a pain in the ass to fit! I cant remember the name, but theyre fully road legal ones.

Calm down Scoopy, it was only an example wink

That E-Bay ad is for "real" HID kits, though, as mentioned by Scooby, the quality is questionable frown

The "fishbowl" effect is known as a projector headlight, my 200 has them with normal Halogen bulbs.

Its the bulbs and amps that make them HID, not the type of lens they are fitted in to.

Yes HID is an improvement but the topic has sorta drifted away from the fact she is lokin at the cheap imitation lights. There is only one real xenon and that costs a lot of money, unfortunately vicky u cant have either HID or xenon lights without seriously breakin the bank. Just get a set of RING "ultra xenon" lights. They are normal bulbs filled with xenon gas so they burn whiter than halogen gas bulbs. Cost about 20-30 notes and look lovely and white. Get these and a set of LED sidelights and ur laffin hun.
