We've taken a VTS and stripped it down to the chassis. A Yamaha R1 (1000cc) bike engine has been fit where the back seats usually reside. Supported by the roll cage trailing arms provide the rear suspension. A diff and drive shaft from an old Ford have been used to utilise the chain drive to power the rear wheels. All the weight now lies in the middle of the car and the engine develops around 180bhp @ 12,000 revs.

A recent runway test has shown a top speed of 140mph @ 10,000rpm and 0-60 in under 4 secs. 55mph is possible in 1st gear and the sequential gear box provides 6 forward gears, but no reverse! Reverse now by way of a push button starter motor system.

Cobra bucket seats used up front, bolted directly to the floor. A roof chop has been done, the new roof made of fibre glass. All windows replaced with plastics.

Self build kits are avaliable and the car is SVA tested and road legal but obviously more at home on a track!

The car on display cost £14,800. A self build kit would be completable for around £10,000 without the roof chop.

I dislike Saxo's, but that's amazing. I love the little french cars with engines in the back.

why would you put a 1000cc in a car to improve it from a 1600 cc, i know its an R1 engine which are good but mainly due to the bike being so light
