Ok peeps. With shrek pretty much damned to the scrapyard its time to start thinking about a new car. IM thinking about something cheap to buy, cheap(ish)to insure, very reliable(even when tuned)(which points too japan)and rather nippy

Choice 1 is a honda civic EK 1.5 VTEC
Choice 2 Honda civic EG(any engine bigger than the 1.35)

If the worst cxomes to the worst
3.Brand new ford ka with free insurance

Im also open to suggestions from u guys. What should i do. Anyone got loadsa info on the civic. I dont understand them really with the silly names like EP,EK,EG,EK9. Whats up with mk1,2,3,4,5,5a,and 6 like the ol' ezza

If you can afford insurance on the 1.6 VTI, go for that, fast, reliable and loads of bits for it.

If you can afford a Coupe, go for one of them, look better (IMO) not loads about and more practical.

The Coupe VTI is like rocking horse poop, very difficult to get hold of, but suprise suprise, i am selling one for a very reasonable price.

You won't be disappointed with your civic, which ever you get.

The EK 1.5 VTEC is a great all rounder. Looks good, is quick, is v.reliable, and doesn't cost the earth to run either smile

Posted By: scoop Re: Scoops new car - 1st Jun 2005 5:14pm
Any good engines in the EG's? Like a 1500 or 1600 VTEC?

Thinkin of a ka for the free insurance really. And its a mo-fo-in go kart

I think new cars are a waste of time, the amount of value you loose.

Put it this way, the £10k you spend on your average 1.2 clio, you could get a 3 year old prestigue car, more reliable and better to drive.

Personally i think you are making a big mistake buying a brand new car, especially as it will loose huge amounts in the first 3 years.

[Linked Image]Sweet EG there. I want one in black or white and i'd do some sweet stuff to it. Seem to be rare tho the civics and the good engines are like rockin horse poo. Want a B16/A

New car idea out of window i think
Posted By: maverick Re: Scoops new car - 1st Jun 2005 9:44pm
Go for one of the mate, there none in Cw and you don't see may modded ones about. They are good and reliable, oh yeah and they are japanese, not much more needs to be said.

DEFFo gettin an EG. Plans are tints, shreks seats, shreks stereo,VTEC controller, Spoon induction kit and performance muffler. Eventually a full spoon exhaust and even a spoon intake manifold and throttle body, then comes more and more spoon gear

Exactly my thoughts. At least if you're going to get japanese, get something uncommon.
How about a Capri??!?

Insurance is a big issue cos of my recent claim so it has to be a normal hatchback, the civic 1.5s have an very "unnormal" engine tho and i plan to push it to about 140BHP AT the very least
Posted By: Anonymous Re: Scoops new car - 3rd Jun 2005 11:04am
so you want to have at least 140bhp but insurance is an issue? are you planning on not declairing your mods??
Posted By: Anonymous Re: Scoops new car - 3rd Jun 2005 11:31am
reliant wrx sti uk spec, cheap insurance, its green!! buy buy buy
Posted By: scoop Re: Scoops new car - 3rd Jun 2005 1:19pm
Im gonna declare my mods and itll be a good 2 years before i reach the dizzy heights of 140BHP so by then it will be cheap insurance. I need the car just to have it standard for a bit til i can afford mods both buying and insuring. The install is gonna be the only thing in the car til xmas possibly. Need the windows tinted tho for summer! then it will be tiny bit by tiny bit.

Right im gonna whack it into perspective here peeps

Insurance is impossible on anything but the most mundane of cars,i cant get a performance car

As civics are far too rare and i need a car now,i have to get what i can find.

Been lookin all over auto trader and their are a few intresting cars

Mondeos and vectras 1.8 (nice motorway cruisers with lots of space

Escorts and 306s and rover 214/6 (nice small cars but hard to find a good one)

BMW 316? (insurance may be low ish?)

Get this car for a year then dump it and get a great car that i can fully pimp. I wont be piming a baby engined car again

Anyone got any suggestions for my next car

Lookin at spendin up to 2k but i wont get the money from insurance for a month ish so if i get desperate i may just have to get a {1000 pound car
Posted By: spinking Re: Scoops new car - 16th Jun 2005 10:43pm
If you are only going to run it for a year just get somthing cheap that wont breakdown all the time and save like mad to get what you want.
Thats what i did to get and then mod the bm.

I dont have LOCAL papers up here mate. Auto trader has shown up 2 civic in a 40 mile radius. An LSi coupe and a 1.3 hatch. I think ill wait n e way so i can get a VTi. Get a run-around for a year to save like a madman then get a beast next year
