Just a quick question.
I want to get an engine rebored and tapped, does anyone know a ballpark figure as what to pay? It will sway my decision knowing.

I have a rough idea in my head, am just after opinions

Phone Tony at Merseyside engines.

Number is 6392259.

I would think about £450ish

Yikes, then the price in my head is waaayy wrong. Altho am not sure its that expensive
Posted By: Dazza Re: Engineering - 23rd Aug 2006 4:47pm
Just got off the phone, about £60 + VAT for rebore, and around £30/40 for the head tapping.

As easy as making one phone call smile

(btw I couldnt be arsed going down stairs and browsing the Yellow Pages)

Re-tap the head to accept a bigger/different stub for the exhaust manifold
Posted By: MrPhil Re: Engineering - 23rd Aug 2006 5:30pm
what size are the studs? if you decide to do it yourself use thinners as a lube.

tbh I havnt got a tap/die set and if the blocks going in anyway, I may aswell give someone else the headache. Thanx for your comments
Posted By: MrPhil Re: Engineering - 23rd Aug 2006 5:38pm
lidl have a set there 4.99 good enough for clearing threads, the last thing you need is a snapped tap in an ali head,

i tend to go for a 1/8 turn of the tap in ali as you can never tell when it will give way smack

Well, its tapping CVH studs into the head so id sooner get all the work done in one place, all at the same time smile
Posted By: MrPhil Re: Engineering - 23rd Aug 2006 10:20pm
whats the offset change for the studs for the 2 manifolds?
Posted By: Dazza Re: Engineering - 23rd Aug 2006 11:27pm
Dunno but they make for a flush fit, so no problems laugh

You say a re-bore but what about new pistons ?

Sorry iv tried not to give too much info away.

The bores are not scored or damaged, am getting it rebored to accept bigger pistons.
