Top Gear's 'Reasonably Priced Car' has sold at auction for £17,800 - around twice its normal value.

The red Vauxhall Astra, which was the show's fourth reasonably priced car from 2014, was sold on eBay to raise money for charity BEN.

While used on the show, it was thrashed around the test track by celebrities including Will Smith, Olly Murs and Ed Sheeran.

However, if the successful bidder wants to drive it on the road they will need to have the vehicle's airbags reinstated as they were replaced by a roll cage and two racing seats.

The 1.6-litre Tech Line model has 2,908 miles on the clock and features 17-inch alloy wheels, 5-point safety belt harnesses, racing seats and a digital radio system.

Odd, Top Gear said that they could never legally sell it. More lies.

If BBC sold it to the public it would be a trade sale which they are probably not insured for?
