Indeed, why not just fit a 1.4 to the 2 tone, and de-2 tone it raftl

Im completely confused as to why you didn't just go the extra 10yards and get the vts..........

Nice tidy motor though wink

Having driven a Saxo a few times in the past, id rather catch the bus than drive one lol. At least the footwell in Rover's have space for ya feet!!

Besides which, the K-Series ownz everything PSA have to offer, period!

I'm sticking with saxos because they are so much fun to drive, the parts are cheap and you can do alsmot anything to them =D

As for not getting a VTS, i cannot afford insurance yet hence the 1.4 and not a VTR/S

But surly the money your going to spend on the exhaust springs etc etc would coover the cost of the extra indsurance........

I think it looks nice as it is, those wheels are good as well ... I know it's not mine, but it's more unique to keep it as it is ... there's so many 'cosmetically modified' Saxo's around, it's as if time hasn't moved trends on in the Saxo community. wink smile

Ford Fiesta Mk4/5 1.25 Group 7 (75bhp)

Saxo Vtr Group 7 (90-100bhp)

Focus 2.0 Group 8 (135bhp)

Why oh why a 1.4 saxo? Sure it's a faster car than the 1.1 but not by much.

Hope all goes well with your mods but make it simple, save the cash and invest in a better car for the future.

I wouldnt put a list of Fords up there to sway him lol... Under powered pieces of trash.

My mates 1.6 Escort had what, 90 bhp when it came out the factory. My Alfa was 120, and now the MG has 107, but is miles quicker than the Alfa. All 1.6

Saxos are good for handling etc, the only problem is that as has been mentioned, a lot has been done to them over the years, and its difficult to make them different.

Elliot, on second thoughts, I reckon you should go for the rally look. Will be a bit more expensive, and harder to live with, but I doubt youll ever get rid of it then happy

Their you go again Andy upsetting people ha ha ha, kind of agree vts would be better to spend the cash on unless you are only interested in the looks and not performance. Anyway looks a nice clean example.

Enough reasons for me.

I dont know why everyone has a problem with them. Theyre small fun french cars, like a 205 or a 106 and id have one over a rover any day. That doesnt include craigs car though, thats a souped up rover MG, not a granny car.

Do some of you not realise why so many people actually have Saxo's when there is so much choice out there? It must be for a reason.

I agree, great little cars and fun to drive!

The word sheep comes to mind mate. Same reason so many people have Astra's and Corsa's.

Ive driven a Saxo on plenty of occasions in the past (cos my mate was always too drunk to drive it - kind of backs up the chav image they have) and tbh, they are awful. Deffo designed for women and very basic a-b car.

The 205, ill give you, always loved that car along with the 306, but with the statement about the Saxo and 106, ive just lost a lot of respect for you lol.

wink

Your missing the point of the cars in the first place though. Theyre supposed to be cheap fun little cars and thats exactly what they are.

Yeah, they have a chav image, but so did the mk1 and 2 escorts in the 80's and 90's, so did the novas, but theyve gotten/are getting their images back now, so will the saxo as theyre actually a half decent car. Granted, theyre not brilliant but they serve their purpose brilliantly.

You call those sheep, but next time you out have a look how many 200sx's are out there? more then there is saxo's. Yet no-one ever calls them sheep. Its because they serve a purpose, cheap, easy to modify with lots of potential, a well trodden path with loads of aftermarket support, thats why i have one. If your worrying about being different buy a daewoo matiz, youll have no aftermarket support, itll be impossible to make any faster and cost a fortune to modify, as everything will be one off.

Dont say anything about 106's, theyre awesome little cars, in GTi, rallye and S16 form the newer alternative to the 205.

Ignore Matty, he had a rover 400 diesel which he modified with a boost gauge and cw stickers. Its only recently he has become a snob now he has a rover 75. Ha Ha

I can say that I have been in a 106 rally and it was super fun but scary at the same time and I can understand why people still want to modify these type of cars. Keep us upto date with the progress smile
Posted By: BMW Joe Re: New saxo (my 3rd) - 31st Oct 2009 6:30pm
He'll boycott the cw stickers soon doh

Yeah, keep us up to date with the progress

LOL, RoverCraig. What happened to your Alfa? HG i believe?

My point of post was.

Why change his old saxo to a 1.4 when he could of engine changed the old one for cheap (even to a 1.6vtr engine)

Hope all goes well with your new car, and don't take things to heart.
