My plans so far are to keep it civilised, not like my last few cars. Change the wheel. It doesnt come with those front wheels, so ill be buying 2 new sets. Probably go for a set the same as the fronts in those pictures in white, 16x8 i think. Also a set of deepdish rota minilite look wheels in 15x8 with a gold centre and chrome lip. Probably get a set of bandies too in 15". Ive no intention of going for the odd wheels look all the kids seem to be doing these days to 'look drift', even though i reckon it looks boss. Its not getting a bodykit or BGW either.

Nice choice mate, seem to be the in thing driving a 200sx. Also whats "in" is 18x9 wheels with the biggest stretch you can put on them.

Still very good and i'm sure you will be very happy with it
Posted By: spinking Re: Dave100e : Nissan S13 200SX - 8th Feb 2009 1:22pm
OOO seen this for sale on dw stage3.
nice
Posted By: Dave100e Re: Dave100e : Nissan S13 200SX - 8th Feb 2009 4:42pm
Yeah, ive noticed theres loads about recently. Ive been after one for ages, and i was looking before i got the escort, so i thought now is the best time to get one.

Im not into this big wheel stuff. Dont see the point. It looks good but whats wrong with 15's or 16's?

Yeah tony, it was up a while ago. A lads girlfriend bought it but cant get insured. He offered it to me first dibs when i put a post up and i literally tore his arm off.
Posted By: spinking Re: Dave100e : Nissan S13 200SX - 8th Feb 2009 8:21pm
Can give a proper replie now as i had popped home on lunch earlier.

Cars looks ace liking your idea with the wheel choice i find my car handles better on 17-16s my 18s are just for show raftl

Good build on the engine to when i bought mine i also considered this but got a good deal on mine.

Glad your not going bgw and kit as its abit of a sleeper (apart from the huge fmic lol)

If you need anybits give us a shout i may have em.

And get yourself booked on that drift day on march 5th matey think i have spare rims you can skid on aswell.
Posted By: chris bmw M3 Re: Dave100e : Nissan S13 200SX - 8th Feb 2009 8:56pm
No big brakes on that list mate...

If you intend on driving fast at all,I would upgrade brakes first before you touch wheels. This may necessitate 16" or 17" wheels anyway...Standard brakes will let you down in a big way, compared to the acceleration a 280bhp 200sx gives...Nice car by the way!

Do you have an electronic boost controller then??

Posted By: Dave100e Re: Dave100e : Nissan S13 200SX - 8th Feb 2009 9:36pm
Cheers tone. Ill book the day after ive got the car and drove it to make sure im ok with it. Dont want to go booking stuff before ive even got the car. Are you going there? I might need someone to give me some pointers smile

Yeah chris, thats one thing i noticed and ive spoken to a few people about. As its intended for skidding it shouldnt be a massive problem but i do have intentions of using it on road too, maybe even track days. Its due rear discs soon, so i will get the best discs all round i can and some proper pads. Then ill start saving for some form of uprated brakes. I believe a lot of people use a Z32 setup and do a 5-stud at the same time. Do you reckon its worth it or should i go for a full aftermarket setup and while im there do the 5 stud?

EDIT: I think it does have a boost controller BUT i cant be 100%. I dont remember seeing one though. Does have an EVC and a turbo timer though. Ive no intention of winding the boost up, at least unless i get used to it so im not bothered about a boost controller.
Posted By: StuyMac Re: Dave100e : Nissan S13 200SX - 8th Feb 2009 11:06pm
Z32 brake setup is the way forward, but the only real advantage of the 5 stud conversion is the wider choice of wheels it gives you.

The S14 brakes will of course bolt straight up to the 5 stud hubs, but the conversion is that common its just as easy to get hold of redrilled disks.

The Z32 / S14 4 pots will also only fit under the very late S13 wheels, otherwise you need 16s wink

Std 280mm disks and single pot calipers and sliders are junk. Ive had this setup a very long time ago - with good disks and pads and I used to overheat them on the road, never mind on a track or with some real aggression.
Posted By: spinking Re: Dave100e : Nissan S13 200SX - 8th Feb 2009 11:45pm
Stu speaks the truth.

The rear disk/caliper setup on a s13 are crap 300zx/skyline calipers bolt stright on but you need the disks drilled to 4 stud and braided hoses to fit the calipers.

For the power the car should run (should see around 300bhp) i better brake setup is a muxt matey.

Best way to learn about a car is on a track/drift day.
Posted By: StuyMac Re: Dave100e : Nissan S13 200SX - 8th Feb 2009 11:49pm
....I was talking about the fronts wink

You need to have a pretty serious car to need the Z32s on the rear - the only advantage of the Z32 rears is better calipers and bigger discs - the handbrake mech is almost no different smile

I was talking about em all raftl

Posted By: StuyMac Re: Dave100e : Nissan S13 200SX - 8th Feb 2009 11:54pm
Also - any rear brake setup needs a master cylinder upgrade also to put a little more bias to the back to make use of them wink

Thats the word raftl couldnt remeber what it was called i have a z32 on mine dave and the difference from my old 200 is huge.

I got the car today. Its just evil. Just so much fun too. It just squirms all over the place. Had it sideways a few times and it just feels so much better at it then my previous cars. Probably due to IRS.

Going to book the skid day too tommorow probably.

Your all right about the brakes. Theyre poor at best. Not had to stamp on them properly yet but i hope i never have to. Monies will have to be spent on that department.

I found a KAAZ operation manual in the paperwork too smile

Oh, does anyone know about EVC's? Im scared to touch it, no idea what it does.
Posted By: chris bmw M3 Re: Dave100e : Nissan S13 200SX - 12th Feb 2009 9:58pm
That's your electronic boost controller(that you said you didn't have!)..I can set it up for you if you like...they are pretty simple tbh
Posted By: chris bmw M3 Re: Dave100e : Nissan S13 200SX - 12th Feb 2009 10:02pm
Kaaz?? Kaaz what??? I doubt it has a 2way diff...its not something you would miss on a spec list...
Posted By: StuyMac Re: Dave100e : Nissan S13 200SX - 12th Feb 2009 10:03pm
Do the tyres scrub on full lock?
Posted By: chris bmw M3 Re: Dave100e : Nissan S13 200SX - 12th Feb 2009 10:10pm
once the diff oil has warmed up,a Kaaz will bang VERY loudly on ANY bend upto 30mph...
Posted By: Dave100e Re: Dave100e : Nissan S13 200SX - 18th Feb 2009 7:41pm
Its defo not locked, and by the sounds of it, its not a kaaz either. It must have had one at some point and its been removed.

I had a look at the EVC and it looks simple. I think ive worked it out but i dont fancy playing with it. When you turn it on at first, but no ignition, it shows 1.15 on the screen which must be the boost setting as its holding about 18psi.

Just out of curiosity, can you set mulitiple boost setting on it? Id like to put a low boost setting on, say 1 bar or less, a mid boost, currently 1.15bar, and maybe a high boost 1.3bar. I hear the engine could easy handle a bit extra boost but i want to be able to wind it down for reliability purposes.
Posted By: spinking Re: Dave100e : Nissan S13 200SX - 18th Feb 2009 8:38pm
Give Chris a pm matey he is ace with these things
Posted By: chris bmw M3 Re: Dave100e : Nissan S13 200SX - 18th Feb 2009 8:44pm
Yep,you can choose between at least 2 settings on most boost controllers...mine has 4 to set to whateva you want...
Posted By: StuyMac Re: Dave100e : Nissan S13 200SX - 19th Feb 2009 8:20am
Depending on how the car is mapped, if you run too little boost the car can overfuel on the lower setting as the map will normally only be set for the higher boost level.

On another note, Ive got that welded diff off my car now - pm me if interested as its on Ebay smile

Haha...I know what your sayin Stu; but aren't you the person who is gonna run 1 to 1.1 bar on the standard unmapped ECU...wonder what your fuelling is doin Stu?? (weak maybe, bit of det for good measure??)lol
Posted By: StuyMac Re: Dave100e : Nissan S13 200SX - 20th Feb 2009 12:01am
Time will tell - never had a problem in the past.

Though at 1 bar - previous cars also havnt had the protection of lower compression with a thicker HG either think

The car had been running 1.2 bar with Shaun and the last owner and there where no signs of Det during the strip down - Im not gonna push my luck though wink
Posted By: chris bmw M3 Re: Dave100e : Nissan S13 200SX - 20th Feb 2009 7:27am
I would get it set up properly for your own peace of mind mate...also according to several tuners-standard injectors are out of puff at 1 Bar...

Nah, doesnt scrub.

Yeah, i dont intend to run the boost too low, or too high.

One thing i dont like about boost controllers is that it allows you to dial in more boost without adding more air. Its why i never fitted one to the escort. If you allow the full boost signal to get to the ecu, will it just kill the power as its not mapped to accept an 'overboost' situation and think something wrong, or will it try to compensate somehow? Im not going to be fiddling, just curious.

Ill pass on the welder cheers. Bit low on monies at the moment so im being carefull what i spend it on. It skids above my ability at the moment (probably always will) so until the VLSD is holding me back ill leave it as it is.

WHEELS WHEELS WHEELS LOL

You enjoying s13 ownership then???
Posted By: Dave100e Re: Dave100e : Nissan S13 200SX - 20th Feb 2009 7:01pm
Hell yeah. Loving it to bits! Every opportunity to drive it and i do.

I normally keep the work van at home, but ive been keeping it in the garage lately so i can drive to work in the morning, THATS how much im enjoying it.

I agree. Those wheels look ok for skidding but not for outright wheels. Theres some AEZ 17's on ebay at the moment. Just want something cheap to get me going while i sort more important things out.

On that note, does anyone have / know of any cheap 15's i can buy for skidding?

Ive been trying to get on sxoc for a few days now. I can get on but i cant register. Noticed a few of you's are on there. Any ideas?
Posted By: chris bmw M3 Re: Dave100e : Nissan S13 200SX - 20th Feb 2009 8:44pm
I've got 22 15" tyres for skidin on!! you are welcome to come and see if any would be of use...but I only have 2 spare rims that I don't need...
Posted By: spinking Re: Dave100e : Nissan S13 200SX - 20th Feb 2009 9:29pm
And i have 2 steel rims with michs on you can have
Posted By: Dave100e Re: Dave100e : Nissan S13 200SX - 21st Feb 2009 7:12pm
Cheers chris. Ill let you know my situation nearer to the date.

Are the steelies of a primera by any chance?

I wouldnt mind some banded steels to drift on.

Whos coming to stoke then?
Posted By: spinking Re: Dave100e : Nissan S13 200SX - 21st Feb 2009 9:29pm
Me and chris are matey and yes think they are of a primera matey.

Have you booked stoke????
Posted By: Dave100e Re: Dave100e : Nissan S13 200SX - 21st Feb 2009 10:13pm
Yeah its booked.

Ill try to buy a few sets of wheels before i go. Dont want to be cadging off people.

Might go buy a few sets of steelies and get them banded up to 7j or something smile
Posted By: spinking Re: Dave100e : Nissan S13 200SX - 22nd Feb 2009 9:42am
Goodlad will be a good day.

I have 6 17s and 2 16s i use for drifting so your more than welcome matey plus i cant get anymore than 8 wheels in the car anyway.
Posted By: chris bmw M3 Re: Dave100e : Nissan S13 200SX - 22nd Feb 2009 9:51am
Banded steelies might look good, but they are too heavy and slow to spin up and slow to reduce their speed when you want to calm the drift...ie-will make it harder for you to learn mate...stick to light as possible alloys happy
Posted By: Dave100e Re: Dave100e : Nissan S13 200SX - 26th Feb 2009 7:41pm
Thats fair enough. Ill stick to the alloys then.

I got a set of 4 steelies off a volvo today though just for now. The centre bore is a few mm bigger then standard though. Does anyone reckon itll be a problem?

When i start getting nice wheels i fancy some of those lightweight ROTA's smile
Posted By: chris bmw M3 Re: Dave100e : Nissan S13 200SX - 26th Feb 2009 9:14pm
Providing they pull tight and straight when you put your wheelnuts on they will be ok to Skid on!...make sure you have conical wheel nuts tho...
Posted By: Dave100e Re: Dave100e : Nissan S13 200SX - 26th Feb 2009 10:07pm
Oh aye yeah. Its got flat face ones at the moment but im going to order some conical lightweight wheelnuts tommorow.

Posted By: spinking Re: Dave100e : Nissan S13 200SX - 26th Feb 2009 10:11pm
Chris is comming the driftday now matey you fancy convoying down in a s13 threesome???
Posted By: spinking Re: Dave100e : Nissan S13 200SX - 1st Mar 2009 3:31pm
Just seen your motor matey looks well does need wheels though.
Posted By: Dave100e Re: Dave100e : Nissan S13 200SX - 3rd Mar 2009 8:04pm
Yay i got spotted. Where did you see me?

Yeah, after the skid day ill start saving for brakes and wheels and do them at the same time. Probably going to collect a load of deep dish 15's for skidding due to cheaper rubber, and a nice set of 17's for road use.
Posted By: spinking Re: Dave100e : Nissan S13 200SX - 3rd Mar 2009 8:59pm
think you were at your house raftl

wont say were onthe boards
Posted By: Dave100e Re: Dave100e : Nissan S13 200SX - 5th Mar 2009 9:32pm
Car served me well today. I was definately the weak link lol.

No real problems only a bit of smoke when the turbo spooled up if id been sitting around on tickover longer then 10 minutes. Used no oil or anything. I did get a misfire coming onto the m6 though when i nailed it but it still pulled strong. Ill keep an eye on it.

Next up, in no particular order...

Seat time.
17" road wheels.
Seat time.
15" skid wheels.
Seat time.
Brakes.
Seat time.
New gear lever and steering wheel.
Seat time.
And more seat time too.
Posted By: spinking Re: Dave100e : Nissan S13 200SX - 5th Mar 2009 10:10pm
Did well today matey out on track all day long welldone has some good grass cutting moments aswell raftl
Posted By: chris bmw M3 Re: Dave100e : Nissan S13 200SX - 6th Mar 2009 10:10am
if you want to improve your skills Dave,it's all about seat time...forget moddin your car(it's fine as it is) as it won't make you a better drifter...
Posted By: MGCraig Re: Dave100e : Nissan S13 200SX - 6th Mar 2009 10:22am
Bit like playing guitar really.... not everyone can just pick one up and become Yngwie Malmsteen....Practice makes perfect laugh

I always remember what I was told when I did my rally day at Phil Price rallyschool in the MkII Escorts......

To be fully in cntrol, the car has to be out of control

I got pretty good at driting the things end of the day...and they kept makin it harder by wetting the track, and putting bald road tyres on the back. Oh so much fun raftl raftl

Ill have to come see you have a go when uni finishes happy
Posted By: DavidB Re: Dave100e : Nissan S13 200SX - 6th Mar 2009 10:29am
What is 'seat time;'?
Posted By: StuyMac Re: Dave100e : Nissan S13 200SX - 6th Mar 2009 10:31am
Time sat in the seat driving - getting practise wink
Posted By: MGCraig Re: Dave100e : Nissan S13 200SX - 6th Mar 2009 10:34am
Bit like with pilots...they have to have so much Flight time under their belts before they can achieve different grades etc...
Posted By: Dave100e Re: Dave100e : Nissan S13 200SX - 6th Mar 2009 4:46pm
The mods i want to do are just personal really. as its a 'fast road' car at the same time i want brakes that dont scare the proverbial out of me. Other stuff is just to make myself more comfortable really. I know having the best car wont make you any better although some seem to think otherwise. If anything this car is too much to start with.

haha, nice one tone. I left the one with my face in cause i look in a right mood.

I got some 17's. Theyre luminous orange and look stupid in a good way. Im gonna paint them but not entirely sure which colour. Ill post a picture some time anyway.

Wheels have definately helped the ground clearance situation anyway. I can even get my car up the drive too. Might buy a few sets of 17's instead of using standards cause they look better and give a better ride hieght.

You off the rock tonight matey???

I did go the rock for a bit but it was like 8ish. Spoke to a few people then got off, couldnt be bothered waiting around.

Had an 'interesting' incident with an Evo on the way home though, think it was Stuy's old car.

stuy!!! you have an e46 now....need advice mate,,,im going through rear tyres in less than 5000 miles m8, im motorway driving, sticking to 70 and have drove like a pussy for the last 3 months, but the very inner edge on the rears is litterally dissapering!!!,,,do you think it rear bushes???
Posted By: Dave100e Re: Dave100e : Nissan S13 200SX - 19th Mar 2009 8:35pm
Get your tracking checked if you havnt already done so. Im surprised the tyre fitter never said to. If you alignment seems ok then id start looking for play in bushes etc. Stuy might know better though cause hes got one.

Curborough is only a little sprint circuit. The lap record is below 30 seconds i think. Something like 28 seconds or less in a bike engined 7 kit car.

And Craig, i really cant tell you what was going on. It wasnt a clever thing to be doing really. But im sure you can work it out for yourself.

It looks like theyre staying orange now.

I need more rubber out back too so once ive paid my road tax im saving up for some dish and a few more inches. A bit of Manji up a road is good fun but not when you have no choice. Actually, no thats a lie, it is good fun but in the same way being shot at is.
Posted By: Dave100e Re: Dave100e : Nissan S13 200SX - 1st Apr 2009 4:59pm
A few parts are on their way to me soon smile

steering boss with a snap off kit and a wheel. Not too bothered about the wheel cause Tony gave me a nice one (cheers mate :)) but i need the boss. the snap off bit might make the wheel too close though so we'll have to see.

Got a short shift lever too, and a vented headlight cover to get some more cold air into the intake.

Shopping list at the moment keeps changing though. Currently looked at ICE. Nothing silly though, itll weigh. Just a new headunit and door speakers. I want quality over noise though, and an SD slot. Hopefully ill be booking some seat time towards the end of the month too smile

You probably did. Ive been using it a lot lately.

Fitted my wheel on Thursday night. Used the Nardi wheel i got off tony spin-king. Nice one mate, its far nicer then the standard jobby smile

Pictures. Hope they dont come out hooooj. Got a CD player that isnt as old as jesus now so i can listen to tunes without them skipping.

[Linked Image]

Got these to fit when the wheels next come off. It wont be long by the way ive been driving it recently smile the rears at least.

[Linked Image]

Got a proper MOMO quick release steering boss here too. Not fitting it as itll make the wheel far too close (ive only got ickle legs). Really really good quality. £40 fits the usual wheels. It pushed right in, further then the pics, but ive got the nuts in there so i dont loose them.

Got new wheels and a sextoy gearlever. Fronts just for now, off to get new tyres for the rears some time tommorow. Rear wheels are silver so i might get them painted to match the fronts. I even got a spare too, still in its bubble wrap!

Wheels look much better Dave matey
Posted By: Dave100e Re: Dave100e : Nissan S13 200SX - 2nd May 2009 3:01pm
Fitted the rears now too, and new rubber all round. 215/45/17's up front and 225/45/17's out back, a long way from the 155's i had on the 100e!

These wheel sit in the arches so much better then the old ones, im made up and the car is slowly becoming more personal and the way i want it. Im going to spend money on general upkeep next, and then ill be saving for a tubular manifold, external wastegate, screamer pipe and depending on the state of the turbo when it comes off a rebuild / change for a different hybrid so i can fit bigger injectors and go for more boost. Its a long way away though, just a plan for now.

Looking better matey

What power you looking for Dave.

Also DONT BUY XSPOWER manifold japspeed do a good one you can get it from driftworks its the one i'll be getting
Posted By: Dave100e Re: Dave100e : Nissan S13 200SX - 3rd May 2009 2:15pm
Something in the region of 350 brake. Ive been told my turbo should be just about up to it and all id need is a tubular manifold and 550cc injectors. But i could need a standalone ecu, and if i do, ill just leave it at what it makes in the end.

I was looking at the japspeed one. I saw a secondhand Apexi one i think, but id rather buy new as i dont fancy a manifold thats cracked and been welded 4 hundred times before and you dont know the history.
Posted By: chris bmw M3 Re: Dave100e : Nissan S13 200SX - 3rd May 2009 8:36pm
did you set up your boost controller mate?

are you actually running maximum boost for your setup??...there might be some free horsepowers in there for you!!
Posted By: spinking Re: Dave100e : Nissan S13 200SX - 3rd May 2009 10:12pm
Your prob going to need a custom map aswell matey

As for power Chris's cars about 400bhp and getting the power down is just silly VERYSILLY as it spins none stop dont forget s13's arnt that heavy but you can still gain more speed with alittle weight loss
Posted By: Dave100e Re: Dave100e : Nissan S13 200SX - 9th May 2009 5:09pm
Ive wokred out how to roughly use it. Im not sure if im at peak boost though. At 1.15bar its massively overfuelling (less then 10:1 on the AFR gauge). Should i try winding the boost up bit by bit until its as close to about 12:1 as possible? I dont really want to disturb it though, and i might just wait till ive fitted a manifold and stainless turbo elbow.

Im not going down the completely stripped route with this car. Ive done it with every other car ive had, and although i never get tired of it ( i love it even more every time i use it, especially on long journeys) it makes a nice change to be comfy for once. When i first got the car itd light the wheels up very easy in 2nd and often in third, but now that ive got decent tyres with a bit more meat on them it doesnt even spin in second unless i make it, id like to have that ability back i think.
Posted By: spinking Re: Dave100e : Nissan S13 200SX - 9th May 2009 7:27pm
Clutch kick yeah

Dave when you strip it take out the sound deadening aswell
Posted By: Dave100e Re: Dave100e : Nissan S13 200SX - 9th May 2009 8:53pm
Carpets and sound deadening are well gone. Only things left are heaters seats and important things. Ive only got door speakers aswell. No AC either. Ive kept the rear seats cause i take people out often in it.

I went for a drive last night to have some fun in the wet, and ended up near candy with my camera and tripod in the boot. Ive seen some of Tony's and others pictures there so i thought why not?

Heres my mates mini aswell. And yes, i do have a slowy on the off rear.

I had those three spokes on my Estima!!! They're "Toms" or something aren't they?

Did I see your car being towed behind a BMW the other day?
Posted By: Dave100e Re: Dave100e : Nissan S13 200SX - 14th May 2009 3:49pm
Yeah, the car really does sit better on those wheels. Not a silly offset but just enough to still be subtle and good looking and fill the arches a bit better.

Plus theyre not luminous orange.

Nope, not me being towed. Im normally in some variety of ford when im being towed smile
Posted By: Dave100e Re: Dave100e : Nissan S13 200SX - 14th May 2009 3:53pm
Late 80's early 90's japan had a few different 3 spokes, just like us. Only ours always looked gash, even then, but theyres get cooler and cooler.

I know TOM's did some, so did Mazdaspeed on early MX-5's and of course, Advans.

Yeah Chris, info please smile

I actually washed my car today. I wasnt going to bother because i thought the paint was past it. But i had an early start today, and by 11 i was finished my jobs and bored, so i managed to get it up the drive without scraping half the tarmac on the pavement with it and gave it two good cleans. It actually came out really good so i polished it aswell at im really really surprised how well the paint has come out. Made up. Its given me the urge to bother looking after the paint on this one.
Posted By: MGCraig Re: Dave100e : Nissan S13 200SX - 16th May 2009 4:13pm
Too Right man laugh

Nothing more thereapeutic than cleaning your car thoroughly, I spent 5 hours on the Alfa about 3 weeks ago, 5 hours wasted as she needs another clean desperately frown

Plus, if it rains and you see the big rain "Globules" on your bonnet and other places... it shows you care for ya car, whereas Im guessin about 60% of everyone I see doesnt raftl
Posted By: Dave100e Re: Dave100e : Nissan S13 200SX - 16th May 2009 4:16pm
Well normally im in the 60%. Making your car clean doesnt really make it any faster, so it doesnt bother me, and im not arsed what others think so i dont normally bother but im lazy and i need to motivate myself so ill start cleaning it from now on.

Im getting four pots too smile Stu took the ones off his S14 and im hopefully gonna pick them up soon. Ill change them come MOT time when i reckon it needs new pads anyway.
Posted By: MGCraig Re: Dave100e : Nissan S13 200SX - 16th May 2009 4:26pm
Well, thing bout mine is now Ive had it and run about in it, Ive noticed some parts are starting to show the standard "Alfa Red Fade"... All red cars fade, but Alfas are reknowned hahaha

More I clean it, more its polished, so hides the pink bits, and looks superb laugh

Four potsll be good laugh laugh

Im lookin forward to seein this again dude, when Im back full time... the last meet I was at I just remember you leaving Candy behind me sideways raftl raftl

...it was just a money maker that I got off sxoc...Pre facelift s13 with broken engine in it,changed that for the spare that I got with it,got it through an mot, unseized the brakes, put a front mount intercooler on it, bought an exhaust for it,fitted that, fixed a shit load of other things on it then sold it to a guy from sxoc!...at a profit of course...

That looks a nice "project" must admit, despite the less than perfect engine raftl

Is that a standard front bumper?
Posted By: spinking Re: Dave100e : Nissan S13 200SX - 16th May 2009 10:28pm
Its a pre-facelift front bumer they (i think) look much better then the face-lifted ones (k-reg onwards)
Posted By: chris bmw M3 Re: Dave100e : Nissan S13 200SX - 17th May 2009 12:08pm
pre facelift ftw..
Posted By: Dave100e Re: Dave100e : Nissan S13 200SX - 17th May 2009 5:20pm
Thats quite smart that Chris. Nice one for keeping another on the road and not breaking it, and nothing beats a bit of profit eh smile

I can give or take on either bumper really. I like the preface because it can make the front end look a lot lower with that lip, but i think the facelift looks smoother. I like mine cause half of its missing for airflow smile

Im now gradually selling things and saving up to start my big brake front conversion. Itll be S14 front 4pots, standard rears with internal drum handbrake for skiddyness, Apex braided lines all round, cut and drilled discs all round with 4 stud redrill for fronts, not sure on pads but probably redstuffs or the fast road version instead but all round. If i think the fronts are overbraking ill change to lesser spec pads to even things out.
Posted By: chris bmw M3 Re: Dave100e : Nissan S13 200SX - 17th May 2009 7:02pm
the fronts you are after will not over brake in comparison to your rears mate..popular set up
Posted By: Dave100e Re: Dave100e : Nissan S13 200SX - 18th May 2009 6:44pm
Happy days then. Ill leave it be.

Im winning on a Thatcham approved immobiliser at the moment, makes my insurance cheaper smile

Off to collect 4 pots in a bit too. Then over the week ill tidy them up along with some wheels and then paint the lot over the weekend hopefully.
Posted By: Dave100e Re: Dave100e : Nissan S13 200SX - 24th May 2009 2:21pm
Ive got loads of bits to put on the car that ive been collecting. Going to fit them all in one go.

Turbo elbow and a tubular manifold thats on its way. I was going to go external gated but if i ever want to go on a track the noise police will stop me.

Ive got the 4-pots, getting some discs sorted hopefully soon, then i just need pipes and pads.

Got a Cat 2 immobiliser aswell to go on smile

Going to have to paint the Advans soon aswell as my current wheels probably wont fit over 4 pots.
Posted By: chris bmw M3 Re: Dave100e : Nissan S13 200SX - 24th May 2009 7:33pm
the minimum wheel size for those 4 pots and discs is 16" or bigger...
Posted By: Dave100e Re: Dave100e : Nissan S13 200SX - 24th May 2009 9:57pm
Ive got 17's all round now but i dont think theyll fit. Ive got the adavns and they should fit fine, plenty of space behind them.
Posted By: chris bmw M3 Re: Dave100e : Nissan S13 200SX - 25th May 2009 9:27am
I can get 17s over my fronts which are 4pots and 320mm discs...
Posted By: StuyMac Re: Dave100e : Nissan S13 200SX - 25th May 2009 4:01pm
17s will be fine for the 4 pots matey smile

Mine are 17's and Ive got 356mm 8 pots under mine smile
Posted By: Dave100e Re: Dave100e : Nissan S13 200SX - 25th May 2009 5:53pm
The lad i bought them off said they wont fit over S14 four pots. I had look at the today and did a little comparison but they looked fine. Ill just have to wait and see.
Posted By: spinking Re: Dave100e : Nissan S13 200SX - 25th May 2009 7:41pm
Pop round to the garage on thursday matey and try them on my car.

Depending on how far the wheels sit in you can get standard facelift alloys on over your 4 pots matey its very very close though
Posted By: Dave100e Re: Dave100e : Nissan S13 200SX - 9th Jun 2009 10:48pm
After dropping Tony off tonight i was heading off to some mates and decided to give it death. After that theres a gasket blowing somewhere after the Turbo.

Good job ive just gotten hold of a tubular manifold. Got a turbo elbow aswell ready to fit. New gaskets all round and better spool up smile
Posted By: spinking Re: Dave100e : Nissan S13 200SX - 9th Jun 2009 11:34pm
To be honest i thought it was blowing alittle on the motorway but the flames comming out the back and the women giving you the Grrr sign when you turned round from droping me off may have helped LOL

will be turbo gasket or elbow mate..
Posted By: StuyMac Re: Dave100e : Nissan S13 200SX - 10th Jun 2009 8:05am
Try and get you hand around the area before it gets too hot, and see if you can feel where the blowing is coming from smile

Turbo off isnt a big job smile
Posted By: Dave100e Re: Dave100e : Nissan S13 200SX - 10th Jun 2009 4:41pm

now it sounds like a spitfire smile

Posted By: Dave100e Re: Dave100e : Nissan S13 200SX - 15th Jul 2009 6:21pm
The Cars at Chris's at the moment. Its keeping the original manifold and elbow for sake of easier fitment. I cant see myself getting much of a gain in performance either to be honest.

You didnt need to go out and work in that rain. It was appreciated though. I had lots of fun all day.

I definately agree with the smaller turbo idea aswell, it keeps bogging down and when you floor it either nothing happens and you straighten up or all hell breaks loose, needs to be more progressive.
Posted By: chris bmw M3 Re: Dave100e : Nissan S13 200SX - 19th Jul 2009 9:40am

T28RS is supposed to spin up like a T25 and still give boost at higher revs...
Posted By: StuyMac Re: Dave100e : Nissan S13 200SX - 20th Jul 2009 9:40am
What turbo are you running Dave - I have a T28R that I may be interested in PXing smile
Posted By: Dave100e Re: Dave100e : Nissan S13 200SX - 20th Jul 2009 3:44pm
Would a T28R spool up better?

Mine is on the speclist as a T28H from a Pulsar, which ive been told are a bit laggier then a normal T28.
Posted By: StuyMac Re: Dave100e : Nissan S13 200SX - 20th Jul 2009 4:07pm
The R has a roller bearing core matey, so it spools up very fast wink

IIRC the R has a 64 exhaust housing, and the Pulsar is a 60. Tht would mean the R is bigger and spools faster therefore yours would be capable of less than the R I have frown

I thought you had a GT2871.... sorry
Posted By: Dave100e Re: Dave100e : Nissan S13 200SX - 20th Jul 2009 6:30pm
Nah mate, wish i did! I wouldve traded it in and spent all the cash in maccies on chocolate milkshakes.

I may well be interested in this T28R in the future when im not poor though. Would it spool like a 25 and boost like a 28 and hold 20psi ok?
Posted By: StuyMac Re: Dave100e : Nissan S13 200SX - 20th Jul 2009 6:37pm
Yeah, they spool like the 25s smile

Mine is running 18psi, but that was kept low due to the work the car does... it will take more smile

Due to recent events there is absolutely no way im getting rid of these cars. For once im happy with my cars and dont know if id be 100% happy to loose them for a 14. So im just going to make them better instead.

So ive just ordered a DVD headunit, im on the lookout for a decent set of 6x9's and im probably going to get a 12" sub kit with amp, box and wires etc.

I want to turn it into a bit of a wangan style car now. Got a few aerodynamic styling plans in my head but im going to do a bit of research before i go ahead with it.

Also got my new headunit fitted. Nice to have tunes again, havnt had them since we had the meet in New brighton and the car park was already full.

Im ordering a Vibe kit at the moment including a 12" sub, decent amp, set of 6x9's and wiring. In the future ill buy an amp just for the suband use the 4 way amp to power some door components when i get a cage, and the 6x9's.

Not arsed anymore mate, i just want to enjoy the car. It wont weigh much more then the sound deadening thats been removed anyway so im not making the car heavier.

Plus the speakers will be on the parcel shelf, and the amps will be mounted to the sub box, 5 minutes tops and it all comes out.

Nah. Im not really into all this ICE buisness but i fancied a slightly more all round car plus i wanted to be able to listen to choones that i can actually hear over the exhaust.

I fitted it all yesterday, just got some tidying up to do, well made up with it.
Posted By: MGCraig Re: Dave100e : Nissan S13 200SX - 26th Aug 2009 6:25pm
Basically want a car thats still fun..but a bit easier to live with, and having some creature comforts?
Posted By: Dave100e Re: Dave100e : Nissan S13 200SX - 26th Aug 2009 7:16pm
Pretty much. As long as i can drift it, go chase some bentleys, play some tunes and then drive to work the next morning im happy.

Next up is a GT2864r (or maybe a 71, most likely 64 though), bigger injectors and a remap. I want over 350bhp because thats a stage 3 S14. In the long run i want 400bhp though which is why im tempted by a 2871. Itll be a while yet though, probably next year.

Whats this MG buisness eh?
Posted By: spinking Re: Dave100e : Nissan S13 200SX - 26th Aug 2009 7:51pm
Dave boyo thats big money your taling there.

forged engine better box bigger tubby custom map the list goes on.

OH AND LAAAAAAAAAAGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG
Posted By: Dave100e Re: Dave100e : Nissan S13 200SX - 27th Aug 2009 4:31pm
I know. Im looking at 3-4 grand. Ive seen second hand 2864's going for between £500-£700, id also have to allow for some sort of mapping, im not sure how far the nissan chip can go, or the Nistune setup, so id possibly look at standalone = not cheap! Id be looking at getting a Z32 box or a straight cut gearset with longer gears. Id also definately need a brake upgrade.

Thats all saying that i dont see something else beforehand though. Im still keeping my eyes out for someone wholl do a deal on a S14.

Ive kept it quiet and only told a few people but its all finally sorted so i can tell everyone now.

Im picking an S14a up on sunday. Its pretty sorted (ill put specs and pictures up when i get it) and i cant wait. Unfortunately im going to have to wait till december to insure it when my current insurance runs out, but i dont mind, itll be worth it. Im gonna buy a shitter to run around in until then though.

Happy days smile
