Alpines are Rare as. On one of Clarksons DVDs he rips the poor car to shreds... mainly because the steering locks randomly while hes driving, and he drives straight off the track hahahaha.
I dunno whether to hate or like these cars tbh. I adore the older Alpines (ones that used to rally). Looks in superb condition though
Hey guys. That's my car. It is the last version of the Alpines, the A610 Turbo. This one is absolutely mint despite being on 120K miles. It is one of just 67 RHD models in the world and only 818 in total were ever produced. Jeremy Clarkson did indeed crash one but has since sent an apology to the Renault Alpine Owners Club (considering he put it into his top 100 cars of all time in 2002, it was a bit of a shock for him to do that but I guess in TV you do what pays!) and the steering lock problem was actually created by putting the remote equipment onto the car for crashing it, not a problem with the car itself. The car he crashed was widely regarded as one of, if not THE best in the UK. It was kept in a carpeted and heated garage and was a show winner :-(
The A610 had 250 bhp in standard form but mine has a de-cat stainless exhaust giving another 10% power. O-60 is 5.4 (bit slow I suppose in scoobyland!) and top speed is approx 170mph. The earlier GTA's were very similar but didn't have the pop-up headlights and were a more rounded shape and had a very fragile interior.
For a rare and pretty stunning looking car (especially in none too mellow yellow - the pics don't do it justice I don't think!!) it takes some beating and I certainly get some attention in it! The handling is amazing in the dry, less so in the wet but you expect that from a rear wheel drive car with a big engine slung over its back!

In no way does that constitute a slow car dude. Welcome to the site, keep us updated on your car. Good to see a few more Rare cars gettin a mention every now and then.
Check out Classic and Sportscar Magazine March 2009 issue. A snippet from the article...
'...the A610 will keep up with the Ferrari but where the A610 really scores over the 348 is in its physics-defying handling, which ignores the fact that the engine is slung so high and far behind the rear axle. It may not have the Ferrari's outright grip, but otherwise it's everything a 348 isn't: friendly, sweet-riding and confidence inspiring.
So what are you waiting for? Grab the greatest supercar bargain...just don't tell anybody else.'
Black was never a colour option with the A610 although one owner I know is in the process of respraying his black (after soda-blasting it) so I think that will look quite awesome. Yellow was always the colour that I wanted as it was the main launch colour and it does look absolutely fantastic in reality. Maybe not everyone's cup of tea but it stands out and you don't buy a supercar to blend into the background!
If you pay £1000 for a GTA, you'll be spending a lot more to get it right! Good GTA's make between £4-6k with some minters making £9-10k at the moment. A610's start at around £7-8k with minters going for up to £15k. A 197,000 miler A610 sold within a week for £15k a couple of months back!!
