Also bought these little bits

tein rods and rod ends

They are stronger then the standard ones and help get more steering angle due to the spacer you get with it and added to the driftworks bottom arms i should get taxi lock raftl

Just bought myself a s14 diff and will be getting it welded up for the 11th of june ready for the pod.

Also will be ordering myself a carbon boot from chargespeed monday.

The actuators buggered on the car which is why i have been getting boost round 5k and the avcr not being able to control the boost propley so will be changing that aswell.

Posted By: spinking Re: Spin-kings 200sx - 1st Jun 2008 11:25pm
Well just paid for my crystal type side indercaters buying the stuff for the frontend conversion while the bits come up at the right price.

Wont be changing the frontend till nextyear when i buy wider wings and a ps bonnet.

Will be chucking the 444 injectors and the spacers on this week i hope spacers are 30mm rears and 25 fronts

Must admit i feel right at home in this car and want to make the best track/drift almost show car i can with the little money i have.

And installing 18" wheels! I'd personally go 15"/16" maximum! Anything over really messes with balljoints and steering arms, and wishbones, =especially= if you're thinking of lowering (or already have).
Posted By: red20 Re: Spin-kings 200sx - 2nd Jul 2008 11:54pm
well from personally i would not go that small an a larger wheel gives better handling at high speeds when drifting. I am running 18" on my 200 sx with coilovers an a very low ride hight an never had any problms
Posted By: chris bmw M3 Re: Spin-kings 200sx - 3rd Jul 2008 6:21am
The reason drifters get away with using bigger wheels is that you can usually get very low profiles(40 or less) on the bigger tyres which will give a strong side wall without much flex-so no need for small rims...
Posted By: spinking Re: Spin-kings 200sx - 3rd Jul 2008 6:22am
plus the 18s are for show as i dont have that much cash for tyres while drifting.

Will be drifting on the 15-16 and 17 inch wheels i have.

As for the arms on and car most of the suspensions been upgraded with drift spec stuff removing bushes and so on with solid stuff.

Most EDC drivers run the cars on 18s but they have sponsors to pay for there tyres
boohoo

yep.

Also got myself a transit fan which i will be fitting should keep the heat down.
Posted By: DavidB Re: Spin-kings 200sx - 3rd Jul 2008 10:06pm
Ah right, drifting. The steering setup is a right mess when you have a look at lowered and massive wheels, the geometry is bollocks. I suppose it's different for what you are doing though,.

well as some of you may know i bought jun stlye arches as the arches on my car are fooked.

They should arrive this week so fingers crossed fitted by the end of the motnh.

After asking a few people i should only need 25mm spacers to fill the arches running my gtr's

I saw this on tuesday. Thought it was brilliant.

Have you got a welded diff or is it a pretty harsh lock? Im tempted to weld mine cause it keeps breaking, and i need to get more sideways fun in, but im not sure if i could be arsed with the skittishness.
Posted By: spinking Re: Spin-kings 200sx - 15th Jul 2008 7:54pm
To be honest its ok to drive dosnt skip to bad raftl well only when i park or take sharp corners.

Well worth doing my rears are 235s aswell.

The diff was welded by a mate who has done loads give us a shout if you want me to ask him dosnt cost much.

Those wheels look well swish.

Cheers for the welding offer, ill keep it in mind. Im not sure what im going to be doing in 3 months time, wether ill be working or in uni so im going to wait till then. I might be getting an s13 or s14 if i keep working anyway so it might be worth leaving it alone for now. Im tempted by an atb slipper too in an anglia casing so i can fit 6.5" rears.

We are both hoping to get a drift lisence and compete in BDC nextyear BRITISH DRIFT CHAMPIONSHIP.

Chris is a good drifter so should be good as we both have completly different ways of drifting.
Posted By: spinking Re: Spin-kings 200sx - 4th Aug 2008 11:35pm
Bought more bits to help with my drifting a hydraulic handbrake kit.

[Linked Image]

Incase you done know what it looks like LOL

Already have skyline rear calipers and have ordered some 300zx grooved disks drilled to 4 stud for my motor.

Found the standard handbrake ok but kept getting it stuck up plus the disks and pads need changing so though i may aswell upgrade.

Been told its simple to put this lot on but have no faith in my myself so will need help fitting this lot if anybody wants to help.
Posted By: MGCraig Re: Spin-kings 200sx - 4th Aug 2008 11:58pm
Hydraulic Handbrake, the Saviour of Rallying bowdown

I wouldnt have thought of using the handbrake for drifitng, dont you just use the rear wheel driveness to full effect (Kick Throttle, steer, balance throttle ??)

Id offer my Services to help you fit it, but Ive never actually fitted one myself, so I doubt Id be much use. Hel, my Driver hasnt even fitted one, as we still have a standard handbrake in the rallycar...Its on the list tho..

Posted By: MGCraig Re: Spin-kings 200sx - 6th Aug 2008 10:16am
Ive just been thinking to myself sir... Are Hydraulic Handbrakes legal for road use, cos they have no Ratchet System???

Thats if you still plan to use it on the road
Posted By: Wheels Re: Spin-kings 200sx - 6th Aug 2008 10:27am
don't they have lever for constant pressure? I'm sure I read it some place.
Posted By: StuyMac Re: Spin-kings 200sx - 6th Aug 2008 10:28am
Generally a pin is used in the actual lever mech - this holds the lever in the on position and is perfectly legal.

Dont forget Rally cars doing multi venue rallys are Taxed / tested / insured for driving between stages... wink
Posted By: MGCraig Re: Spin-kings 200sx - 6th Aug 2008 10:32am
Ahhh..Me forgets...

The old Fiat Uno Turbo Rallycars used to have 2 systems on the rear wheels, one for the hyrdaulic, and one for the standard handbrake. Seems like over engineering to me tho
Posted By: StuyMac Re: Spin-kings 200sx - 6th Aug 2008 10:40am
Thats generally used so as when you stop after giving the caar a good trashing, your not locking the hot pads to the disc with the handbrake - this caused hot spots on the discs and encouraged warping of the disks.

Some large and high performance cars still run 2 calipers to get round this, some makers use an inboard drum so the same brakes are not used, and some just rely on brake technology in discs and pads to make sure the same caliper / friction surface can be used for both smile
Posted By: MGCraig Re: Spin-kings 200sx - 6th Aug 2008 10:43am
Got ya...Cheers for clearing it all up. We still need to fit a hydraulic handbrake to the rallycar, the standard one is too much effort to pull for a hairpin, so we dont bother usually. Plus with not having much power, good corners can help us make up time.

Do many drifters actually use the handbrake tho??
Posted By: Wheels Re: Spin-kings 200sx - 6th Aug 2008 1:06pm
depends on the skill of the driver I guess and the track being used, if I was to go from a straight into a corner I'd use it to initiate the drift but if the car had is weight shifted to on side you could clutch kick it out. If you was transitioning from a leftside drift straight into a right then the back end should have enough swing to it in order to not use the Ebrake.
Posted By: spinking Re: Spin-kings 200sx - 6th Aug 2008 8:12pm
What he said ^^^^^^^^^ plus when sidways slowing the car down with the footbrake can often straighten the car up which is poo so you flick the handbrake to slow you down but keeping you sidways while comming on and off the power.

(every drifter drifts differently)

Check video out

clicky

Videos worth a watch too but your looking for 2mins in for some incar footage and then 2-58ish for the scoobys.

There is more though.

Fitting the wand isnt to hard (well for me it maybe raftl )

This is how its dont (lad in the driftworks chaser in vid sent me info) bon-bon.

the line that fits to the rear port of the handbrake cylinder goes to the rear output on the master cylinder, replacing the stock front-rear line, then the line that fits to the front port of the handbrake cylinder goes to the t-peice at the rear of the car, so replacing the entire front-rear copper line.

Then you just bleed it like normal, and off you go, hydraulic handbrake done!

Posted By: spinking Re: Spin-kings 200sx - 7th Aug 2008 7:57pm
Just thought i would add this vid as the car initiates at around 120 with the handbrake (hydraulic handbrake) same type i just bought (pitty Phills cars better raftl gives those who dont know abit more imput on why difters use handbrakes.

http://www.vimeo.com/1477552

Also started to finaly get the car ready for the bits i am fitting.

Took the boot off and rear bumper as i will be getting mine nextweek and keep running my other bumper over when i put the car away.

Will be painting the bumper and skirts myself as the cars not getting sprayed till Jan so will be about 4 different colours.

Also started taking the rear subframe off ready to fit the solid bushes and will remove the brake lines and fit the new ones for the handbrake while there.

Finaly got round to fitting (trying to fit) some of my bits today.

Managed to fit passenger side driftworks bottom arms and tension rods along with my tein rod and rod ends bottom ball joing was a pain in the arse and well seezed so ended up taking the whole arms to kwick fit and having it heated and pressed out.
Also for some reason my rods and rod ends never came with a locking nut so got to find/source one from somwere.

[Linked Image]

[Linked Image]

Took me forever to do one side as i also needed stilsons and ball-joint splitter which i never had and good old halfraunds ripped me off with LOL.

The otherside was a nightmere and will need to go to a garage to be done as one of the last owners has rounded almost eveybolt off and i have no power at my garage to grind the buggers off.

Arms look good though FTW
Posted By: spinking Re: Spin-kings 200sx - 11th Aug 2008 7:57pm
Oh yeah forgot to mention the link bars for the anti-roll bars at the front are fooked so will need to replace them might aswell get white-lines while i am there.

Was hoping to have all the arms done and the rearsubframe off today but Judging by what has happened today and that i am off to get married and wont have time to work on it i prob wont be drifting at the pod on the 13th of sept its not worth taking a poorly car GUTTED.

Need to fix subframe
oil leak
over heating problem
tracking
rubbing at the front
Alignment
Oh and its now blowing from the elbow

Once i got the arm off took the ball joing off using a very large and very heavy hammer thank god these arms havnt got any.

Need to sort the subframe out next and get all the front lined up correctly and get the covers for the tein rods were it meets the rack.

Yer £50 each donnas made up BARGAIN raftl

Worked alot of hours but was somthing i wanted plus they are super light and save paint when it comes to getting the car painted but thats nextyear.

Want to get the rear subframe done now once thats done i'll attempt to get the arms lined up propley.

My disks still havnt turned up yet which is getting alittle frustrating as i want the hydro fitted but cant do it till the disks are here cos the standard calipers are crap and the skyline ones wont work on my standard disks.

If i am aloud to play with the car on sunday (got wedding bits to do again nono ) will try and get the manifold and elbow on as i have the correct gaskets now. Trying to as much as poss before my wedding this way i dont have much to do before the drift day (if i make it )

Which is brave for me as i dont mind messing with suspension and body bits but hate messing with the engine side of things cos i dont want to kill it raftl

Well this is a job i dont want to do again.

Managed to fit my manifold today what a pain in the arse it was too. I tell you 200's are built by small children or men with very small hands as trying to get to the last two bolts on the car was nothing short of a piss take took me for ever LOL.

Anyways the manilfolds on but couldnt get the elbow on as i need to get some heat into the nuts/studs holding it on as YET AGAIN there all rounded off or just stuburn and wont turn.

Was hoping to have it done today but nevermind atleast its started.

Been a while since i updated this.

Been away got married like the fool i am so little has been fitted but now the wedding and parties are out the way work has started.

tub-Manifold and apex elbow are all together and water feed looped back into the block and no longer through the turbo so fingers crossed the car will run cooler at driftdays.

bought my sil80 chargerspeed 30mm wider front fenders.

[Linked Image]

[Linked Image]

and bumper lights (not my car in pic)

Carbon boots on just thinking if i should rivet the window in aswell as the glue???

Car will be running on my nextday off which is monday and then the frontend will be changed over by the start of oct.
Posted By: spinking Re: Spin-kings 200sx - 22nd Sep 2008 7:28pm
Well bit of a mixed day today.

tried to fit the manifold and elbow on the car and for some reason the elbow wont go on the exhaurst will this be becasue its off a s14 and mines a s13???? not worth me putting my old elbow on as its blowing so will have to get another Apex one.

Cracked on changing the frontend and putting the boot on (still havnt glued the window in yet still need to pick the glue up. Panel gaps need sorting aswell but its comming together and should looks great.

How easy does the PS13 stuff fit on the S13? I know the Sil80 came about from the fact silvia front ends are easier and cheaper to replace but ive no idea how much of a job it is.

Joe i need to learn raftl

The change overs easy enough just a straight swap for the wings bumper and bonnet (well its ment to be)

Need brackets for the lights and possible a bracket or 2 making up for the bumper in the middle.

Getting there.
Posted By: spinking Re: Spin-kings 200sx - 24th Sep 2008 10:32pm
Wasnt sure what pins to get for the bonnet but think i will get these

[Linked Image]

And finish off putting the frontnd together.

Had some spare cash in the bank that i didnt think i had so bought the aftermarket elbow the right one this time so hoping this arrives before my days off so i can get the car running again so i can turn it round and take the rear subframe off ready for sandblasting and painting plus have the new solid bushes fitted.

Once all thats done i'll fit the hydro (with alittle help) rear skyline calipers and disks.

More work done.

Bonnet grill and lights on and screen in the back.

Need to put the bumper lights in which i will do later on.

The panel gaps are terrible at the moment but once it goes for paint that will be sorted.

Can close the bonnet proply so will take the catch off and just use the pins.

Its getting there.

Yeah, if you can, enter the BDC. Something ive always wanted to do but never really had the opportunity. Now i might be able to afford it and im hatching a plan and want to build a drift car and if im any good in a while ill start entering competitions.

Have you tried going around tyre shops and asking for old tyres or cheapo tyres in exchange for ad space. If your running 15's or 16's on the rear i dont think the tyres would be a problem to get hold of.

Id love to follow you to an event though. Went to a D1 exhibition about 3 years ago but never been to anything else really.
Posted By: spinking Re: Spin-kings 200sx - 5th Oct 2008 6:50pm
Manage to get tyres cheapish for now matey.

Nextime i go to a drift day matey come along you can have passenger rides.

Glued the window in tonight and manage to get the subframe ready to drop.

Also picked up my disks

Managed to get a day off work with no wife in tow so did abit to the car.

Got the subframe off couldnt get the bloody handbrake cables apart like the bad mooded git i am when i work on cars almost cut it instead LOL but my mate Chris got it off cheers fella.

Started to try and take the bushes out see why people say they are a pain in the arse now so the guy who's sandblasting the frame for me is going to do them and chuck the solid bushes in too (lazy i know)

If i just want to run the wond (hydro) instead of the standard handbrake aswell i need the backplates BUT i can run the disks for now as the hydro can be locked on like a standard one just not to be trusted on steep hills raftl

Get yourself a E30 325 matey and weld the diff up.#

Next one i'll got to will prob be at the pod.
Posted By: Dave100e Re: Spin-kings 200sx - 12th Oct 2008 11:50pm
Ive had a look at insurance recently, and to be honest, id have to go for a Volvo 360 2.0. Insurance would be roughly £400 with the right policy, maybe even less if i shopped around more. Whereas an E30 325 would be in the region of £1200, more then im paying on the RST. Its just not worth it for a second car. Id may aswell buy a cossie then pay for two loads of expensive insurance. With a few choice mods i reckon a 360 is up to the job, especially if i eventually fit a 1.8 16v clio engine.

Plus the car im considering at the moment theyd only want to steal £250 from me smile
Posted By: MrPhil Re: Spin-kings 200sx - 13th Oct 2008 12:37am
volvo 360 with one of them 1.7 turbo engines out of the ugly FWD cars, forget the name sorry.
Posted By: StuyMac Re: Spin-kings 200sx - 13th Oct 2008 1:40pm
The only problem with Cossies is the steering lock - its crap frown
Posted By: chris bmw M3 Re: Spin-kings 200sx - 13th Oct 2008 2:52pm
Not just steering lock that puts people off driftin cossies... they are laggy as hell, unreliable as hell, coilovers are expensive for them, they love petrol pumps, standard diffs are fragile and have crap lock-up, and adjustable suspension is too expensive for them compared to other cars.
Posted By: endoxr4x4 Re: Spin-kings 200sx - 13th Oct 2008 8:05pm
try classic insurance for a ovlov or a e30 as they are 0ver 15 years old so are available for classic as long as you are over 21 years old. spinking had a ovlov on classic and was cheap to insure i'm sure he can tell you what the price was
Posted By: spinking Re: Spin-kings 200sx - 13th Oct 2008 8:14pm
Price was £180 fully comp rac road side assist drive other cars and drive abroad with all mods aswell.

Mate of mine came down and sorted the elecs out for me to now have all the lights working on the car.

Put the cups on the rear subframe and the braces that go on the subframe and chassie (no idea what they are for maybe to stop axle tramp) also painted them red byt forgot to take pics.

Got the front camber sitting right and sorted the tracking (only by eye) and also put the other 6mm spacer on the tein rod (better steering lock)

Its the gold ring at the end of the rod blue stuff thread lock.

Just drove the car to my house which was a bit scary to say the least LOL Cars all over the place as the suspensions not setup yet.

It lives it drives all be it abit bad LOL

Done alot today not that the wife was pleased.

Drop links are one

[Linked Image]

And bodykits on not the best fitting kit but its only going to get smashed while drifting. Will get it painted once i get the wider rear fenders.

[Linked Image]

Reg plates are on seats bolted back down and most of the sound deadening is out now.

Also sorted the ride height out had to rise it up (gay i know) but it will do untill i go to demon tweeks and have the suspension setup propley. The steering still locked on full lock but thats somthing to do with it going over centre or somthing the tension rods need winding out/in to sort that i am told.

At least i know what the problem is now just need to get both bottom arms the same lenght so the car can be driven to tweek.

manifold and handbrake to finish then that will do for now.

Think i may have my rear driftworks arms and wider fenders on by then too then its saving for a respray.

cant wait till the 24th for the drift day but not to confident about getting it boohoo
Posted By: spinking Re: Spin-kings 200sx - 24th Dec 2008 1:23pm
Well finaly got the car driving ina straight line and the manifolds starts blowing and takes a plug out rrrr.

The manifolds a later xspower one and i am having trouble finding away to tighten one of the bolts anybody dealt with them before on a ca???

Also do they make that big a difference or should i go back to the standard one???
Posted By: StuyMac Re: Spin-kings 200sx - 24th Dec 2008 1:32pm
The std manifold on the CA become restrictive at approx 260bhp (though people have run 320+ on a std item before now), and the SR at 300bhp, so if your below 260 the std one should be fine smile

All manifold bolts should be easy enough to get to mate - done remember any being a problem back in the dark ages when I had a CA wink
Posted By: spinking Re: Spin-kings 200sx - 25th Dec 2008 8:56pm
I'll see what happens when i have a go at sorting the one on the car if its crap and fails again i'll chuck the old one back on.
The cars stage 2 with a rebuilt engine so when that goes POP Which it will cos its a ca i'll be upgrading to somtin bigger and better just dont know what any idea maybe 1jz/sr20 or rb25 my budget will be £2500 which will be with fitting.
Posted By: Dave100e Re: Spin-kings 200sx - 25th Dec 2008 11:26pm
RB30 for the win smile

If the CA goes would it be bottom end?

If so you could always ask Norris Designs about something a bit meatier to beef the bottom end up and any work done to your current engine isnt wasted then.

I know loads [censored] the CA off but it cant be that bad can it? Like any engine, im sure its reliable if its built, mapped properly and then looked after.
Posted By: spinking Re: Spin-kings 200sx - 26th Dec 2008 8:53pm
Norris design are all over my engine matey its only been rebuilt 9k ago with stronger bottom end BUT this year its going to get well used and abused.

You still comming to Oulton park matey????

As for mapping i know people say its not worth me doing it with the turbo i hve (t28) i will have the 444cc injectors fitted to it and Z32 airflow meter fitted and fo get it mapped at Horsesham (Jez) later this year should see around 300bhp anymore and it will need forge internals (320 bhp and above) but to be honets 250bhp with the weight of my car should be enough.
Posted By: Dave100e Re: Spin-kings 200sx - 27th Dec 2008 2:08pm
Yeah, ND would be the only place id take a CA.

Yeah im still up for oulton park. Im just sorting myself a new HD camera out aswell. Whereabout do they do the skidding? Can i get a good viewpoint?

250 brake is plenty. I dont know why people chase big numbers so much when the AE86's, Escorts and even Volvo's prove you dont need big power to be able to drift.

Dave there is loads of places to get good pics from matey.

Johnny alan long time no see matey hows you.

Cars on the road been back on the road for about a week now manifolds playing up at the moment though so need to sort that.
Posted By: StuyMac Re: Spin-kings 200sx - 27th Dec 2008 7:55pm
TBH ND are very expensive for the CA, mainly as Simon would rather concerntrate on the Evos at the moment.

If you want someone to build you a CA, go see my mate with the Starion at park garage - he has built a few - all to a very high standard - and the only person round here I would trust to build a forged motor!! grin
Posted By: spinking Re: Spin-kings 200sx - 27th Dec 2008 8:13pm
No stu i was saying that ND suplied all the parts the car has on/in it.

I am not fussed on the fmic and chip its got from them though

Well been having a acouple of running problems and with the fact just dont know enough about fixing oily bits on my car its starting to really piss me off.

My car was ment to be going to tweeks Monday so i could have the aligment done ready for the bdc licence day on the 24th but that been shelved as i cant find/fix the problem.

The cars killing plugs and there is alot of oil on them aswell. The cars starting to sound like a scooby with little to now power when trying to drive it.

[Linked Image]

[Linked Image]

I have cleaned the plugs up and its just done it stright away also. Will try again monday and change everything over airflow meter coilpacks and i have some denso plugs there only svk20rz8 will these be ok to use on the car its stage 2 ish.

Also took the manifold off again and fitted it better done think its leaking now (could this have fouled the plugs and caused my problem)

Fingers crossed its sorted soon guess its helping me learn abit more pitty i hate working on cars would rather just skid it and have sombody fix it but thats just lazy.
Posted By: MGCraig Re: Spin-kings 200sx - 4th Jan 2009 9:23pm
Could this be that your Piston Rings or Cylinder walls are badly worn ??

Posted By: MGCraig Re: Spin-kings 200sx - 4th Jan 2009 9:30pm
Or even leaking valve guide seals.

How many miles has the engine done??
Posted By: spinking Re: Spin-kings 200sx - 4th Jan 2009 9:37pm
8k since the rebuild
Posted By: MGCraig Re: Spin-kings 200sx - 4th Jan 2009 9:42pm
Hopefully then, its just the engine still being run in, but at 8k, Id have thought it would have done that already.

I cant help any more sorry, Stuy or someone might be able to. If not, then best get someone in to have a look over happy
Posted By: StuyMac Re: Spin-kings 200sx - 4th Jan 2009 10:23pm
Is the oil coming from inside the cylinder or from the rocker cover? If its leaking from the rocker cover and running down the plug holes - as you losen the plug the oil will run down the thread making it look like the oil has coated the plug from inside the cylinder.

If its coming from the rocker cover and running in to the plug holes it will just be effecting the contact between coilpack and spark plug causing a weak spark / misfire and loss of power.

If its coming from inside the cylinder chamber (shine a torch down the plug hole and see if the top of the piston is wet) it could be piston rings, or valve stem seals - though these normally go gradually and you will have noticed smoke (blue and burning oil) and it would be smoking hugely when running judging by the amount of oil on the plug.

Judging by the oil above the thread on the plug and inside the head bolt (how could it get there if it was leaking from inside the chamber) Id guess its leaking from the rocker cover and spoiling the coilpack / spark plug contact.
Posted By: Johnny Alan Re: Spin-kings 200sx - 4th Jan 2009 11:22pm
I agree with stuy, looking at the ammount of oil on the plug I am suprised their is still any in the engine. Usually any small quantity of oil would just burn of, looking at the wetness of them it would have to be something serious which I dont think as it is running. If I was to put money down I would go with the gasket theory with stuy. Let us know how ya get on smile

Cheers peps will look into it more tomra
Posted By: spinking Re: Spin-kings 200sx - 5th Jan 2009 8:36pm
Well after changing the plugs twice two 10 different coil and a coil lead the problem came own to being a bad connection with the plug to injector number 4 big thanks to chris or helping me out with this had us stumped for a while (more me cos i am thick with engines)

Now the car runs great just need to put a new rocker cover gasket on just a pitty it wasnt before today as i missed out on going to demon tweeks.
Posted By: Johnny Alan Re: Spin-kings 200sx - 5th Jan 2009 8:49pm
ah well, tweeks is only a short drive away. hope you have no more small issues$ and that all runs smoothly from now on. You got anything else planned???
Posted By: spinking Re: Spin-kings 200sx - 5th Jan 2009 9:32pm
Ran out of cash at the moment.

BUT

still need to get 300zx rear disks so i can get the wand hooked up.

then its mot time again the end of march so fook knows what i will be paying for raftl
Posted By: Beemertastic Re: Spin-kings 200sx - 5th Jan 2009 11:34pm
Just a quick one...whilst demon tweaks can set your car up..theres a better and cheaper place....Buckley Tyres...(dont laugh) have got the fkin dogs danglies when it comes to laser alignment..its called hawkeye..and costs them about 40k....but it can and will sort any alignment issue..i had problems with the audi..esp with camber etc..and they sorted all 4 wheels for 46 quid...audi wanted 200 quid for the same job...
It helps if you know what measurements you want the car to be adjusted to...if they presumeably arent standard....

Thanks to my mate Chris for doing the tracking for me car steers much better not and dosnt lock when on full lock.

However i know i cant fix cars for shite or for that matter chgeck what i have done to see if its right.

I have had all the suspension off the car as you may well know and the only things i tightened up most of the bolts the coilovers-rear-subframe-all the adjust arms on the rear and on the front the driftworks bottom arms have a inch difference in lenght on them and were loose and the tension rod fell off when Chris jacked up the car no wounder it drove crap Oh and the brake lines are catching on the coilovers and need fixing into place LOL.

So lesson learnt today check double check and triple check my work its funny now but this could of been alot worse.

[Linked Image]

The drive home was interesting as the steering went to cock on the day and the tyres screamed all the way home managing to bald them they did have 5mm before the day

[Linked Image]

Also had a massive boost leak a misfire and snapping the handbrake bracket under the car (were it mounts to the body)

Had a day off work today so started sorting the problems out.

steering looked like this

Wheels pointing away from each other
[Linked Image]

right wheel

left wheel
[Linked Image]

everything under the car was tight cant figure out why the steering went to cock. I have taken the driftworks bottom arms off and will have the measured up propley and make sure this time they are done correctly.

so the cars back like this again which i am sick of

The cars off to my mates who should be able to work his magic and sort out my problems wont be able to make the next Licence day but will spend the rest of the year getting seatime and have another crack at getting my Licence when it starts again later on this year.

Car will be caged and up to spec then aswell.

And a carbon fibre roof paying it off monthly from srb so wont have it for a while as i need/want a cage for it.

Bought it cos it looks ace (i think)

Better get that cage in quick then matey - I would like to trust the carbon should the car roll, and think how much your chassis strength will be reduced omg

All in hand chewy fear not raftl

Dropped the car off ready to be sprayed cant wait my other bumper still isnt finished so will have to wait awhile before that goes on.
Posted By: Dave100e Re: Spin-kings 200sx - 6th Feb 2009 4:03pm
Carbon roof = swish.

Is it much lighter though? Being caged will more then make up for the loss of stregth though surely?

What colour you painting it? I reckon itd look boss in the grey it used to be.
Posted By: spinking Re: Spin-kings 200sx - 6th Feb 2009 6:21pm
Yeah staying the same colour matey.

Not buying the roof for weight saving but i am sure it will save some weight.

The cage will add weight but if i want my Licence i need it plus its a good thing to have.
Posted By: Dave100e Re: Spin-kings 200sx - 6th Feb 2009 7:19pm
Yay! i was hoping youd stay that colour. Is it a full spray or just the kit?

As im sure you know, any weight saving will be worth it as itll lower the Centre of Gravity.

Yeah, its probably good to have a cage. Im sure its worth gaining weight for stiffness. Are you going for a full on fancy one? Does it need to be weld in for BDC aswell?
Posted By: spinking Re: Spin-kings 200sx - 7th Feb 2009 10:11pm
Its staying grey for now.

Black once i buy carbon doors but thats along way off i think i will have dinted it before then raftl

Yeah every pound counts as for weight saving

Cage is from fabricage and will be a bdc spec cage 6 pointer
Posted By: StuyMac Re: Spin-kings 200sx - 7th Feb 2009 10:28pm
Mine is a Fabricage and they aint that light frown

Weld in / Bolt in makes no difference, the MSA / FIA / BDC / EDC approvial comes from diameter / shape of the pipes, not how if its bolted / welded in - both the Silvia and Civic have bolt in cages, and both are FIA approved wink
Posted By: Dave100e Re: Spin-kings 200sx - 7th Feb 2009 10:35pm
Fair enough. Cheers for clearing that up. Dont know too much about cages.
Posted By: MGCraig Re: Spin-kings 200sx - 8th Feb 2009 1:29am
well look at it this way.

Our Rally Fiesta uses a bolt in cage from a 3 door 4x4 off road rally car (big V8 thing) that has also been welded in for extra security. To remove, we cut out the feet and reweld...

First car was a 5 door, and to be perfectly honest I wouldnt trus my life with it on say, a manx rally stage?

But now the new car is a 3 door, I feel a lot safer in terms of overall protection. It passed all the checks and everything, been declared safe etc.. I just wish wed have bought a cage specifically for a Fiesta...

They all do the same job end of the day (unless its a showcage hahahahahahahaha) Id rather have a heavy one than none at all happy
Posted By: spinking Re: Spin-kings 200sx - 8th Feb 2009 8:23pm
Once i get a cage i'll go get the car weighed again as i am planing on getting it weighed soon as it is now.

Hoping to have the car back by weds all one colour YAY
Posted By: StuyMac Re: Spin-kings 200sx - 8th Feb 2009 11:12pm

I had the 180 weighed with the cage - it made 1200kgs smile
Posted By: spinking Re: Spin-kings 200sx - 8th Feb 2009 11:48pm
Hoping mine makes less than that.

What had been removed stu.

I have got and removed

sound deadening
rear seats (god they are heavy raftl )
carpets
rear boot replaced with carbon and lexan window
carbon bonnet
diff cooler and pump
speakers and radio
pop up lights and motors as the ps are alot lighter
front and rear bumper suports
abs removed
air con too
did you removed any of this???
Posted By: StuyMac Re: Spin-kings 200sx - 8th Feb 2009 11:51pm
Interior was in, but it had no air con or ABS. It did have the SR which is also a lighter engine.

I guess you could be down to 1100 as the boot especially weighs a ton omg

I asked the lad who is spraying my car to see how bad the rust is and howmuch it would cost as i know the inner arches and a small hole behind the driver seat turns out its much much more

inner sills both sides the full lenght chassie rails and bits around the floor.

I have done 2245 miles since i bought the car in may and there is now way i bought this car with a legal mot which has pissed me right off.

car will still be sprayed (wings bumper skirts and rear bumper) and i will still do the driftday at stoke on the 5th but the question is do i re-shell as its over £600 worth of welding (i have been quoted cheaper) but will this be the end as its pritty extensive and i havnt taken it for a mot yet so will prob find more.

GUTTED but its a s13 so shouldnt be to suprised.

I know the rocky boat your in at the moment. I found a hole in my S13 when I was changing the clutch and gearbox. luckly I had the time and a decent mechanic to sort it right away for me.

comes with the territory of the S13 im affraid. mine was no way near as bad as yours tho.

Posted By: StuyMac Re: Spin-kings 200sx - 18th Feb 2009 4:03pm
This is the reason why I went for a 180 and Silvia matey - unless your looking at a late 14 or 14a they are starting to all get the dredded rot now - especially the S13s.

Have you had a check of the rear chassis leg - behind the rear wheels - that is also a common place for them to start going frown

Totally gutted mate - really thought this one may have lasted you a few years frown
Posted By: spinking Re: Spin-kings 200sx - 18th Feb 2009 8:42pm
Not yet stu matey will be putting it in for the mot in march so i'll know better then.

But i have decided no matter how bad it is i will be keeping this car even if it means stripping it right back to the shell.

Had a play with the car sorted some little jobs out that i can do without breaking it more Also gave the car a clean havnt done that since august.

[Linked Image]

[Linked Image]

Sorted the kit out so its fits correct as it was hanging off still need to do the wings as there is t big a gap and got the bumper to sit up more still havnt got the origin one back yet. Fixed the bottom of the wings on as i had been lazy and zip tide them on.

Also bought a japspeed CA18DET stainless high flow turbo elbow and some stiffer exhaurst hangers as i lost 2 on the last driftday spinning off onto the grass.

[Linked Image]

Still got alot of jobs to get done on the car as i am at the point were i HATE it got to the point were i am thinking of selling it as nothings going right the problems are only small but with my crap car fixing skills i make them worse rather than better LOL.

Jobs are

turbo gaskets are blowing
no lamba sensor
boost leak but cant find it
boosting after 4.5k
car wont idle correctly
belts need replacing
avcr boosts to 0.84 on setting A+B even though b is set to 1bar
handbrakes crap
hydro needs hooking up
mot is up on the 26th
over fueling

Yeah looked shite on the red one plus it wasnt big enough raftl

If you get your BGW, I reckon a set of vinyls would help finish it off..make it look very drifty.

Nothing too Chavvy or F&F styley...like that red one.

Yes/no??

Fallen for the BGW syndrome eh?

I reckon its perfect as it is but a BGW wont do it any harm. Its definately got a good enough kit to take it.

That is a really nice car Tony. Its got all the right parts on it. Did you ever get it dyno'd?

How come your selling? Fed up or have you got your eyes set on something else? Itd be a shame to get rid now when its pretty much finished but we all have to move on eventually i suppose.

Forgot how fooking anoying people can be when it comes to trying to sell cars not only do they turn up late but they insult you with stupid offers 2.5k i know the markets not good at the min but its not that bad yet.

Think what i'll just do is leave the car off the road until i can afford to use it again insurance is due up in acouple of weeks so i'll just sorn it till aug/sept and just carry on with the hours i am putting in at work so i can clear my dept and get the car sorted so when it does come back on the road it will be running alot better.

Being skint and the car always breaking had just made me want to get rid but having a drive in it tonight has changed my mind.

Well at least your still making progress and keeping interest eh.

The cage looks nice and i definately prefer the sound of a wastegate to a fart valve, its more subtle when you want to be, and sounds better when your giving it beans.

Finished removing the sound deadening from the rear of the car and gave it a quick paint to try and tidy it up pain in the arse job to do suprised it was heavier than i thought it would be.

I did leave alittle on the front of the inner arch as it was sticky and couldnt be arsed chucking petrol on it to soak off.

Posted By: spinking Re: Spin-kings 200sx - 9th Jun 2009 7:34pm
Well yet again i am at the place were i am unsure what to do with the car.

After sorting out the sound deadening i came across more rust almost asmuch as the last lot i had which cost me £400 and that was discounted.

At the moment i am thinking of breaking it and saving but then i have that problem of me not being able to save so was thinking of selling but i wouldnt get anywere near what i could get breaking it plus its got parts on i want for the next which brings me to the next bit LOL (keep up)

SIL80 i have a mate who could import me a good spec car cheap would be pretty much rust free and have the sr20 motor in it and poss a 2way as these are 2 things i want for this ar but cost good money sr20 and bits 2k 2way diff around £400 second hand.

What to do
Posted By: Dave100e Re: Spin-kings 200sx - 9th Jun 2009 10:44pm
Nah, keep an s13 with the right engine in it.

If you can do it id go with this import thing. I know if couldve done that when i bought mine i wouldve. Id try to get hold of something with an RB or something in though smile are you defo staying s-body?
Posted By: spinking Re: Spin-kings 200sx - 9th Jun 2009 11:38pm
S-Body all the way matey i love them.

Might have somthing in the pipe-line already i'll know whats what the end of the month.

As for RB powers yeah i can prob buy one but its running and fixing the skyline engine thats the problem as its got "skyline tax on it"

Posted By: spinking Re: Spin-kings 200sx - 15th Jun 2009 1:21pm
Its been off the road to long matey when the ca blows up i'll go sr powers. Mines got a rr report for 285bhp at 1.1 bar so its alright on power at the moment.

Just ordered these rear fenders YEAH 50mm wider so will need spacers but tis what i wanted just waited for srb to start making them as the origin ones are alot of cash

Posted By: spinking Re: Spin-kings 200sx - 15th Jun 2009 6:49pm
Started the 5 stud conversion managed the fronts fine but snapped a caliper bolt on one side and cant get the bearing out the otherside any idea's how to do it the bolt are all out but still cant move it.
Posted By: Dave100e Re: Spin-kings 200sx - 15th Jun 2009 7:32pm
Is the bolt still attatched to the caliper or the bracket?

Are you allowed to heat the area around the bearings? I wouldnt do it though unless someone says its ok, it can severely weaken much important parts.

Are you keeping it now then?
Posted By: spinking Re: Spin-kings 200sx - 15th Jun 2009 10:15pm
Yeah keeping it now matey

See page 38 as i have bought some stuff lol

And i dont need the bearing thats in so will get some heat on it yeah

If i go bodykit, which i no doubt will one day, i like the wangan style cars, like the 6666 rocket bunny car. Simple subtle low front, smooth skirts and a ducktail spoiler with 50mm rivetted on arches.

Those rear fenders look the business.

Showing my ignorance here.

Do you have to cut the original arch or will you roll the lip ?

Guess it didn't make much sense.

What I was getting at, I assumed the wider fenders are to accomodate wider wheels.

Normally on Yank cars you can roll the lip of the arch so it doesn't rub on the tyre, but if its not enough you have to cut away the offending metal..

Hmmm... confusing myself now

LoL i understand what you mean matey

Posted By: spinking Re: Spin-kings 200sx - 21st Jul 2009 9:29am
Just put my name down on the group buy from apex for the rest of my cage which will be september i think

[Linked Image]

Front cages to go with existing rears are £129. Thats a pair of front legs, top window bar and doors bars including all necessary mounting fixings.

Just need to get sombody to weld a cross section in the middle so i can use my carbon roof and compete.

BARGAIN

The full cages are full FIA EDC/BDC/Pro Drift/Time Attack spec made from cold drawn steel so will be able to use it next year if i get my license to do BDC.

Fitting the hydro weds and should fingers crossed have the wider fenders on depending on the bloody weather.
Posted By: BMW Joe Re: Spin-kings 200sx - 22nd Jul 2009 11:57am
IF you get your license lol

Things coming together happy

Sounds like a bargain that!

Hope the weather gets better for your day off mate lol

Got a fair bit done today will post pics up in the morning to bloody tired mow finished at 11pm
Posted By: spinking Re: Spin-kings 200sx - 23rd Jul 2009 10:18am
The wife finaly didnt have any bloody plans for me today so got some work done on the car.

Big thanks to Dale (park monkey) and Oscar (oscar200) for there help with the hydro and fenders.

1st off was to sort the arches out this is the somthing i havnt done before so was alittle hit and miss so out with the grinder

[Linked Image]

found plenty of rust though which has now been cut out and the stuff i couldnt remove has been treated.

1st off cutting

[Linked Image]

Wasnt high enough so cut alittle higher once done cut slices in the metal and folded the inner arches out over the rear qtr

[Linked Image]

Then Oscar come round and Helped with the rest cheers kidda

Riveted them to the outer qtr and bonded and sealed so no water gets in its very messy but its somthing you wont be seeing unless i rip the fenders off (with my driving thats a good chance)

Then matched up the fenders and riveted them on

[Linked Image]

[Linked Image]

[Linked Image]

[Linked Image]

[Linked Image]

Transfors the look of the car i think its much wider and gives it a more agressive stance i think.

Next up paint and wheels that will fill the arches.

Once that was done lined up the front light as thats been on the piss since i put the front end on also fitted the rest of the cage down as i kept breaking drill bits so gave up but its sorted now lol.

Next Dale helped chuck the Driftworks Hydraulic Handbrake on i broke the standard s13 handbrake cable suport at Oulton park last year and after fixing it twice have ripped it out the floor again so the hydro was a must really.

1st off the T-Piece section at the rear

[Linked Image]

[Linked Image]

Fed the line through a hole i had just behind the drivers seat and to the hydro itself (havnt fastend the lines to the floor yet)

[Linked Image]

Dale had to make up a little section for me as i lost the unions for the front that came with the kit but need to get another one as the one that runs to the front is a different thread to the one he had made up once this is done the its just a case of bleeding the system then its mot time.

What you going to do about the petrol cap?
Posted By: spinking Re: Spin-kings 200sx - 23rd Jul 2009 7:07pm
No nothing broken (yet) raftl

I like the way the petrol cap is shows alittle depth aswell you can get them to sit out on a bonnet hinge thingy but i like it.

Wanted to do somemore work on it today but havnt stopped all bloody day so its feet up with a beer for me tonight

the old ones are elec but as the switch has been binned with the rest of the centre console they need moving by hand plus it saves weight LOL

Well went to sort the hydro out today and the union i have/had isnt the right one so that wents tits up driftworks are sorting me some out so i dont have to buy the lines just the unions.

Also managed to line the bumper up better its not to bad a fit for a copy.

really need rims/spacers/paint/mot/tax but as it stands i am very skint wanted the car on the road for oct but dont think thats going to happen now prob looking at feb/march as i have other thinks to pay for on my house plus the car will need plenty of work for its mot.

After having problems with unions as i lost the ones i got with the kit a mate got me some and the ones that went to the master cylinder were wrong (not his fault) so Bon Bon came t the rescue and managed to get the company who suplie them to just sell me the unions so big thanks matey

Does anybody know the laws on how many inches apart the brake lines have to be secured.

Is't there any regulations to comply to?

where was the leak from on the brake lines & what you do to sort it?
Posted By: spinking Re: Spin-kings 200sx - 23rd Aug 2009 10:39pm
one of the unions didnt fit tight so i swapped it with another strange thin is it was about 1mm difference.

You may notice some skidly marks round your garage and the others were i tried the car out lol

Will have full brakes monday have some now but still need bleeding alittle more
Posted By: spinking Re: Spin-kings 200sx - 24th Aug 2009 9:43pm
Well Chris came down and did the brakes with me and i have alittle more but not much so its fail lol

The hydro holds much more brake fluid than the servo cvan chuck at it when bleeding the system normaly so its going to have to have to be pressure bled (why does that not look right) as there is still loads of air in it even though they have been done propley

Will be getting this done sunday fingers crossed it works

These are nice and hard aswell the others i had were far to soft.

Posted By: Johnny Alan Re: Spin-kings 200sx - 1st Sep 2009 5:58pm
nice but don't mean to piss on ya chip but I bet the thread is f..ked cause its a fine thread and being aluminum it will have picked up and with the use of a hammer etc trying to turn it, it has probably made it worse. If it doesn't budge use a chisel and hit the nut as if to split it but don't go all he way through. By doing this it will stretch the nut freeing it off hopefully.Let us know how ya get on grin
Posted By: Johnny Alan Re: Spin-kings 200sx - 1st Sep 2009 6:16pm
just to add if you feel nervous with the grinder or chisel method you can get nut splitters for a couple of quid on ebay which may do the job, but is just like a chisel and hammer method. You want to speak to tony 220 turbo as am sure he could machine you a new one if needed
Posted By: spinking Re: Spin-kings 200sx - 1st Sep 2009 8:35pm
Cheers matey think i have sorted it now good old lumpy and screwdriver doing the trick raftl

Also got myself a pressure bleeder so hoping that bleeds the brakes as we struggled doing it the good old fashioned way
Posted By: spinking Re: Spin-kings 200sx - 2nd Sep 2009 9:30pm
Well it took 3 men a hammer a sledge hammer screw driver a vice 3 cans of wd daftly and bravley some heat and a large set of Stilsons to move the last locking colar thingy on the rear coilover and it has moved but not all the way think the threads fook so will have to set the ride height to the height the coilovers will go which isnt were i want it gutted but thats how its going to have to be untill i can buy the Driftworks Control System Coilovers i want.

Still cant bleed the bloody brakes though really struggling with them any ideas peps.

Posted By: Dave100e Re: Spin-kings 200sx - 2nd Sep 2009 11:14pm
Is it for the Skidbrake?
Posted By: spinking Re: Spin-kings 200sx - 3rd Sep 2009 11:47am
Yep the whole braking systems struggling to bleed
Posted By: spinking Re: Spin-kings 200sx - 4th Sep 2009 2:21pm
Well after much effort i cant get 1 rear coilover to go as low as i want it its stuck solid so have spent the day setting a reasonable ride hight wanted it lower but if i am honest i'd never be able to drive it propley with the crapy roads round here (so glad i pay road tex sor such smooth driving surfaces)

Also changed the plugs and put the bodywork back together the rear bumpers bugger but it will do for now.

Random picture whoring

Have sorted something out and looks like i will have some nice
wheels for it soon.

Get another brake fluid res cap, and modify it to fit the pressure bleeder!

(Cut a hole and fit the pressure pipe with a bung / seal with silicone....)

Trashed the garage looking for one i thought i had.

Have you got a spare matey???
Posted By: StuyMac Re: Spin-kings 200sx - 4th Sep 2009 2:53pm
Yes mate smile

Not sure if the seal is brilliant on it, but it will stop fluid splashing out. If your seal is better you could modify yours and use this on the car once bled up....

Have they still not bled up mate omg

Whats the problem? Air? No pedal?
Posted By: spinking Re: Spin-kings 200sx - 10th Sep 2009 12:10pm
No pedal matey fluids comming through think the hydro needs the pressure bleed done to sort it i tried before but my modded cap leaked so trying again as i have pasted it in selant so once it drys i'll try again.

Posted By: spinking Re: Spin-kings 200sx - 13th Sep 2009 1:11pm
tried bleeding it again with the pressure bleeder but yet again its not holding pressure.

I cant bleed it alone the old fashioned way.

FOOKIN sick of this now so going to save and get it done by a garage who can sort it really dont care how long it takes as i have head enough fooking about with it.

On the plus point the wifes bought me wheels for my birthday YAAY

Your a right silly billy.

When you gonna be skidding again then?
Posted By: spinking Re: Spin-kings 200sx - 25th Sep 2009 7:16pm
Indeed i am but its sorted now had a skid by my garage lol

Brake lines now fitted down and home made quick release fasteners for the front bumper looks shite but does the job so dont have to fight to fit zip ties there just need them in the midddle and sides this way i can release bits and let the bumper hang with the zip ties.
Posted By: spinking Re: Spin-kings 200sx - 26th Sep 2009 11:54am
IT FAILED which i expected lol

1. Horn missing (i lost it) lol

9. Nearsie floor and inner sill excessive corrosion

10. Nearside rear inner arch excessive corrosion

11. Offside inner arch excessive corrosion

Only 2 pages was expecting much much more lol back on the road 2020 LOL

Just need to save alittle and get this done should be back on the road the end of jan start of feb.
Posted By: StuyMac Re: Spin-kings 200sx - 26th Sep 2009 10:07pm
S13s just dont have to go through a CAT Test matey - they still have to pass basic emmissions though..

Thats some list omg

Fog lights - if only one is working, it must be the one to the O/S
Posted By: spinking Re: Spin-kings 200sx - 26th Sep 2009 10:45pm
Trusty that clears that up then cheers matey

Its mostly welding though stu the hand brakes related to the fact the brakcets snapped underneath so i have no handbrake and the idiot just didnt understand that i have a druft button on the handbrake and said the button must be faulty lol
Posted By: spinking Re: Spin-kings 200sx - 27th Sep 2009 4:36pm
My quick relase bumper its win

[Linked Image]

Dosnt look good but its not about looking good it makes lif easier for me when the bumper needs to come off. I'll still use zip ties for the middle and were the bumper goes into the arches and unclip the clips when on drift days this way when i hit somthing the bumper dosnt get as damaged as it would if it was held on solid.
Posted By: BMW Joe Re: Spin-kings 200sx - 27th Sep 2009 10:33pm
Liking the quick release bumper happy

Gutted about the mahoosive list lol

How the feck do you loose your horn???
Posted By: spinking Re: Spin-kings 200sx - 27th Sep 2009 11:30pm
When i did the front end change i needed to swap just about everything so i put the horn somwere raftl

Nevermind lol

Its mostly welding so shouldnt be to bad to fix.

Posted By: spinking Re: Spin-kings 200sx - 5th Oct 2009 3:26pm
Drop links ordered

Lamba sensor ordered

lights fixed (nothing up with the fog light though)

Once i can get the car out the garage i'll sort the handbrake out then get the welding sorted.

well after finishing work on sunday at 6pm i set off to Kent to get my wheels arrived at 1030 and got home at 330am LOL

LOving them they look better than i thought they would.

Need spacers for the fronts as they rub on the calipers and spacers on the rears as i have 50mm wider fenders but i think they suit the car really well.

and took the car for a quick spin and the diffs not sounding to healthy lol

Doh!! Youll need longer studs too frown
Posted By: spinking Re: Spin-kings 200sx - 20th Nov 2009 11:49pm
I'll prob end up buying these stu and winding the bottom arms in alittle

http://www.driftworks.com/catalog/products/25mm-bolt-on-wheel-spacers.html
Posted By: StuyMac Re: Spin-kings 200sx - 21st Nov 2009 10:56am
Check your wheels have space for the original studs as they will stick out from the spacer. If the wheels dont have the space youll need to trim the std studs down with a grinder wink
Posted By: spinking Re: Spin-kings 200sx - 29th Nov 2009 1:07am
Well i can now tell you about this yaaaaay

I have a sponsor of sorts lol

Somtimes its the work thats gone into a car that gets you noticed (sponsors saying now mine) and they have asked me if i would put there name on my car and they would offer me % off stuff there not a car company as such they sell drift clothes and stickers as well as other stuff.

Got my pack off them today which has some of there new stickers and there web addy which will be going on my skirts.

Pitty i havnt got my bdc now but makes me want it more just goes to show buying and chatting with sellers helps.

I also get discount off

srbpower

JDMgarage (there stickers going on the over fenders once sprayed) Have the stickers but not had the bits painted yet.

I also have a local site (wont say who yet) offereing to paint the white bits for add space.

Cant wait to get out there and try doing somthing in the car LOL

need help with my sticjers though who can do this?????
Posted By: spinking Re: Spin-kings 200sx - 8th Dec 2009 5:14pm
Did the drop links pain in the arse to get the old ones out

[Linked Image]

Tried sorting the handbrake its a bloody nightmere so looks like i am going to drill a hole in the body and chuck a nut and bolt through the bracket to hold it in place its no show car.

then started on the diff as its not been sounding to well

Once off noticed the oil was alittle low but not to bad

[Linked Image]

Emptied the oil and all still seemed fine

[Linked Image]

Then bits started falling out lol

So looks like its time for a 2way.

Also put my brooksie sticker on as this will make me skid better.

Have the chance of a good solid grey pre-facelift (no cat test) shel onlyl needs engine box and fuel tank which i have of course lol i am skint but the lad said i can pay the £300 round aug just woundering what i should do???

I am off to look at it 2mora.

I need alot of welding for mine roughly £400.

but i am not to sure what to do i'd get the engine/box/tank in which i have been offered help with and get it mot'd and swap the bits over slowly while keeping it on the road does this seem like a good plan or should i just save and wait????

ive got a welder, plus metal. if you want to pop to my garage on the weekend or sometime, you just provide some wire and gas and you can get on with it smile
Posted By: spinking Re: Spin-kings 200sx - 10th Feb 2010 11:47pm
Cheers matey but the more i looked and poked the worse it got

well after mucho thinking and alittle help from friends i am re-shelling the 200

The rust really is that bad stevie wounder mot'd this car when i bought it there is just no way the last mot wasnt a favour as the patches/hole are huge lol

Anyways i wanted to keep it and fight on and not let another 200 go to the big scrap yard in the sky but in the end common sense got the better of me and its all going in another shell

The plan is put the engine box and fuel tank in the new shell and mot it then swap the rest over afterwards this way i wont be off the road and can do it alittle at a time

the new shell looks like this needs a sill small patch in the bay and alittle on the crossmember welding and thats it and i got it thanks to a friend for a bargain mates rate price.

Without the black wheels

Pre facelift so no fighting the mot gimp over the cat lol

And its grey like my face lift so not loads of spraying

[Linked Image]

[Linked Image]

[Linked Image]

Nice and clean no rust on any of the arches stripped inside and ready for my engine and box

So the stripping begins

[Linked Image]

[Linked Image]

[Linked Image]

Must admit the wife wasnt happy to come home from shopping to find a carbon bonnet and boot in the spare room and the rest of the body parts in the hall lol

I'll swap it back over to a sil80 front end later in the year just want some skid time for now.

[Linked Image]

Then put my coilovers on and the rims sits nice there isnt a engine in it yet so the fronts still alittle high.

Also put the 300zx calipers on the front need disks for it though and put the 25mm spacers on the front as i have 20mm Chargespeed vented front wings to go on and 50mm wider rear fenders.

Managed to get the sunframe on today before it lashed down

[Linked Image]

Also got the petrol tank on which was a arse of a job and started plumbing in the hydro need to replace one of the rear brake lines and make the fronts up then i'll bleed the system.

SR20 should be out of the 14 soon so fingers crossed it will be in the 13.

The little bit of welding should be getting done this week and have managed to get myself a welded diff and some spare standard skid rims.

Jobs still to do

Cage
engine and running gear
mot
front fenders on an rears
bucket seats in
avcr

Just need more days of work to do it lol.

Posted By: spinking Re: Spin-kings 200sx - 28th Mar 2010 4:08pm

[Linked Image]

[Linked Image]

Also got my wings from srb

[Linked Image]

[Linked Image]

[Linked Image]

Bit on the large side but will do the trick

And my new spoiler to hide the bad boot wont be putting it on my carbon boot will get round to putting that on later on in the year when i get a carbon bonnet to go with

New rear end.

Engine isnt at the unit yet so just doing other things while i have a rare day off work.
Posted By: StuyMac Re: Spin-kings 200sx - 8th Apr 2010 9:40am
Whats with the rack modification? I can understand if you have lowered it to keep the steering ends as flat as possible - which way has the rack gone, and if its not been lowered, whats the advantage of moving it any other way?

Like the spoiler - very "Thunder Saloon" like, and not typical BGW you see on drift cars... [Linked Image]
Posted By: spinking Re: Spin-kings 200sx - 8th Apr 2010 11:03am
Steering racks moved forward to help prevent the steering locking going over centre plus gets rid of the steering ackerman aswell

Cheers stu liking the spoiler will be putting the carbon on later in the year though
Posted By: spinking Re: Spin-kings 200sx - 8th Apr 2010 10:10pm
Well had a busy day today

after fitting the kouki lights and the spoiler am i then started on fitting the doors wings and over fenders aswell as some small jobs

Started cutting the arches for the 50mm fenders might of gone alittle mad with them lol

[Linked Image]

Over fenders without wider rims and spacers

[Linked Image]

Over fenders with 25mm spacers and 8j et12 rota's all round

[Linked Image]

[Linked Image]

[Linked Image]

Also fitted my old doors as the others were crap full of dints and abit of rust on the bottom plus the locks were shafted

[Linked Image]

Then the 20mm front fenders and other skirts fitted

[Linked Image]

[Linked Image]

[Linked Image]

Really am loving how the car looks with the wider stance/kouki lights and spoiler

[Linked Image]

[Linked Image]

[Linked Image]

[Linked Image]

[Linked Image]

[Linked Image]

[Linked Image]

Front stance with 25mm spacers lol I bought 50mm thinking i'd need them for the rears

[Linked Image]

Might keep them as i will be using standard 14 rims to skid on

[Linked Image]

Weak lock before i fit the modded steering/crossmember and tiens

[Linked Image]

Just waiting on teins to arrive

Once the bolts arrive for the crossmember the engine/fmic should be in and just acase of wiring which should be fun. Have everything i need for the sr20 to run stage 2.
Posted By: spinking Re: Spin-kings 200sx - 14th Apr 2010 10:21pm
Havnt had much time off work of late working 60+ hours aweek 12 hour shifts and a bloody wife that hates cars lol so have only spent around 3 days on the car from when i got it this also includes stripping the old shell lol

My engine/box arrive this sunday so will chuck it straight in and try and get asmuch done as i can so its just acase of sorting the wiring out.

Will also put the Japspeed fmic. My zorst hasnt arrive as yet but i am sure it wont be long

Have tubular manifold/japspeed elbow and decate bypass pipe

[Linked Image]

[Linked Image]

Also have avcr, apexi filter, walbro fuel pump standard injectors and at the moment standard ecu not sure what power to expect from this but am hoping to make around 300ish bhp will get a proper ecu soon this is my 1st sr engine so unsure what to expect.

Took the sound shite out but in doing so found more bits that need welding so thats getting done this week.

Put the bucket seats in and lined the bonnet up.

[Linked Image]

[Linked Image]

Put my JDMgarage 50mm spacers on thought they would be to wide but more than happy with how the rims sit they are 18x8 et12's.

Its just in and bolted up at the moment the rest will be done later on this week when i am next off.

Like i have said its just the wiring thats going to be the pain.

Also mounted the fmic core and zip tide the bumper up so i could trim the bumper ready.

[Linked Image]

[Linked Image]

[Linked Image]

Have m zorst now and the T piece as i have not ABS has arrived good old ebay comes to my aid again.

I have a 14a loom and ecu and have been told how to get around the nats but iof anybody has some advice how to do it i'd appreciate it.

Some jobs left to do.

diff on
brake lines and bleed them up
loom
quickshift
zorst on
bolt cage down
avcr in
tubby timer
mot

Just a pain in the arse only have the odd day off a week.

Mate advised me to wait and get nismo 555's and go stage 2a rather than get stage 1a so shall be doing this once its running and on the road dunno what power that is.
Posted By: spinking Re: Spin-kings 200sx - 10th May 2010 12:09am
well think i have had enough cant be fooking arsed

Have the wrong loom and ecu (have both a 14 and 14a ecu) but one 14a loom meaning i have to pay out again and just havnt got the cash really should of just bought the shell and put the very good ca i had back in another shell rather than fook about with putting a sr into a car i prob wont drive.

Mate who is doing the loom has enough to do with his own car and i just dont have the time or know how to sort it so think maybe its time i came to my senses and sold the car how it is.

So shall be open t offers on a cracking looking car and verygood spec s13 that just needs finishing and acouple of saftey bits needed for pr skidding

Posted By: spinking Re: Spin-kings 200sx - 21st May 2010 7:01pm

[Linked Image]

Haylo and chip will get the chip in a key later on

[Linked Image]

Last of the wirings gone in now its been hard wired in.

[Linked Image]

[Linked Image]

Also moved the battery to just behind the drivers seat as i will still need to put rims in the back for skidding so think this was prob the next best space and i dont want to use a small battery.

[Linked Image]

Have taken the Koukis out for now as i want to used the orig ones to get the car through a mot love this pic though

[Linked Image]

Huge update infact mega update (sound like a child lol)

1st off kouki's working

break lights

[Linked Image]

Tail lights

[Linked Image]

Almost all the front lights lol

[Linked Image]

Not a fan of the pop up lights so things have started to be collected for the front end conversion but thats not going to be done for a year just collection the bits

Now the most important bits

as you may have read the car wouldnt start so asked my good friend sy to come look as the boys ace with car elecs and proved the point

After checking the whole comversion over he found some faults lol

The start signal to the ecu wasnt wired up right once this was checked he wired that up

next the car ran for only 4 seconds even i knew that was natts cutting in so he checked all that wiring the natts had no ignig feed going to it so wired that up turned the kep then it started and ran for more than 4 seconds win well almost lol

Had oil leak from the banjo and water from the water feeds lol sorted them tested them and they work sweet.

next was rad hose it was alittle kinked so worked it with the grinder now sits sweet no kinks also modded the heater feeds so the water passed through ok

Next was sorting the throttle cable as putting a sr in changed the possition now i can get full throttle lol

while he did all this i fitted the diff havnt got the nismo 2way pro on yet as i need skyline shafts so put the welder on there.

So all that was left was to see if it moved under its own steam

its does yaaay

oh i hit the jack sorry lol

Also tried the wand it works ace

http://www.youtube.com/user/sennatupac#p/a/u/1/66EFlrY-7Hc

the suspensions very hard 1st time i have driven on the jic coilovers like them lol

The zorst is blowing from a bolt i missed and blew the hot pipe off so get a boost leak hence smoke lol all fixed now acouple of problems to find and fix but the great news is it works

2nd vid

http://www.youtube.com/user/sennatupac#p/a/u/0/ytiLXVUI2VM

Zorst is blowing on this vid and i cant drive lol

I shall get another vid up friday with a proper camara

Just happy it works shall sort some bits out then mot it and skid it within a inch of its life
Posted By: spinking Re: Spin-kings 200sx - 20th Aug 2010 8:57pm
well sorted the exhaurst and checked for leaks to which i found none

This lot helped with the wiring and fault finding thanks to my mate sy for doing the last little bit at the end to finaly getting it fired up

[Linked Image]

acouple of randoms its never going to be a show and shine car so this is the cleanest its ever going to be lol

[Linked Image]

[Linked Image]

Off for its mot at the end of the month.

Acouple of vids just thought it would be different to my many many pictures lol

car working and sounding really good couldnt help make a little vid chav as it maybe lol

As you can see its a very clean car inside lol

YouTube - car vid 2 working

And after fixing the exhaurst drove it suspensions very hard but the apex ones i had were to soft

also fitted the battery down properly and covered it pikey spec lol

[Linked Image]

Also earthed the aulternater

tidied the wiring up and soldered the last bits up

moved the wand back alittle

But took it down the private lane we have at the unit and found a terrible problem at around 5000rpm it dies was in 2nd no idea why revs to the limiter while standing.

Brakes are going to need bleeding again

and also need indercater bulb holders for the wings power steering res 14a injector loom and prob other bits but its getting there looks like a need a small patch welding on the sil for its mot.
Posted By: StuyMac Re: Spin-kings 200sx - 25th Aug 2010 10:55pm
Does it just rev out like a derv, or totally cut the spark?

If it revs out, could be the fuel pump on the way, if it cuts the spark, check plugs, coil packs and ignition amp smile
Posted By: spinking Re: Spin-kings 200sx - 25th Aug 2010 11:14pm

Well got skyline shafts of a mate had red and orange paint so thought i'd paint them lol to go with the green red and blue on underside of the rear of the car wont be seen unless i put it on its roof.

Back plates not painted as its a 14 one

[Linked Image]

Anyways after fooking about for god knows how long to get the old welded diff and shafts out took the backplate of the welded s13 and went to fit it to the nismo 2 way pro i got off a sil80 and the bloody crown wheels fouling the back pate yet another problem that should of been straight forward now means i have to fook about and buy yet more for the car pissing me off no end

and i like this pic so thought i'd share.

yeah recon i'd snap it going from 3rd to 2nd lol
Posted By: StuyMac Re: Spin-kings 200sx - 16th Sep 2010 9:20am
Not to mention the added leaverage you can put on it.

If you fail to find the right gear, the extra leaverage can put untold stress on the box internals - mainly roll pins on the selector shafts, and the synchro / baulk rings omg

Well the alternator problems just a bad wire BUT the bad luck i have must now be at the end surely

LOOKS LIKE THE HEADGASKETS GONE ON THE CAR....

Cheers for the help Chris gilly bud

Whats it worth 6 months tax 12 months mot?
Posted By: diggingdeeper Re: Spin-kings 200sx - 24th Sep 2010 12:57pm
I hate the engine design people for that, sticking the temperature sensor at a point that doesn't show when the engine is overheating - had a few cars like that - bloomin' stupid.

But its full of water so yep head gaskets gone well and truely gone good news is there isnt any knocking from the engine bad news is i am skint so will need to save to get the job done.

Anybody know the best way of changing the gasket is it easier if i take the engine out or can i just strip it down in place???

Gutted as i have had the car on the road 2 bloody days

And some random pics from tuesday night lol

do it in situ,

just make sure you take the chain cover off ass the tensioner likes to drop into the ump. ill sort you out with timing diagrams if you like smile
Posted By: spinking Re: Spin-kings 200sx - 25th Sep 2010 8:58pm
looking at getting a head at the monent skimmed and ready to go on mine as i am alittle worried that my head might be warped ( i dont think it is) but just dont want the hassle of getting it in bits and then finding i need to go get myself another head.

Have been toying with swapping the engine just for another sr

swapping the car

breaking it (now out the window)

i'll be going for a 1.2 cosworth gasket if its staying its just a matter of cash (again lol)

Looks like the damage to mine was done comming back from the mot think the thermostat blocked and kicked the bottom hose off but the temp gauge never went above halfway ( i never drove the car back from its mot was in work) and the water pump gasket had started pissing out like a tap

Then again when i took the car from the unit to my house about 9 miles but again never got above half on the temp gauge. Plus it was 1am and the alternator wasnt charging the battery so drove alot of the way with my lights off so just wanted to get home couldnt drive quick though as the limp home mod (if its called that) had kicked in so was more or less driving on tickover.

In all think the engine did about 20 miles cooking this enough to warp the head do you think?? There is now a small oil leak at the front of the block been told this is a common thing on sr's. Also there is a smalll water leak from the rear which i cant figure out if its comming from the back of the head or just a hose??
Posted By: StuyMac Re: Spin-kings 200sx - 26th Sep 2010 8:27am
Just do the gasket mate. The tensioner will only come outward from the engine, so there is no risk at all that it can drop - just get the motor to TDC, and tip tie the chain tight to keep tension on th bottom pulley so it doent jump a tooth, though if the engine is at TDC it wont really make a difference - you wll just lose alignment of the silver markers on the chain.

Only thing thats a bit tricky is 1 water hose, which is a bit fiddly to get at, other than that its pretty straigh forward.

The reason temp gauges dont always show hot when the car over heats is that the engine runs out of water (this has happened here), and there is no water for the sensor to read, and hot air doesnt measure as hot. It wouldnt matter where the sensor was, if there was no water in the engine, the gauge wont show it over heating.

Tbh if you say there is a lot of water in the cylinder Tony, you may need to check the pistons for det also, though I doubt you have had much of a chance to "toe" it yet frown

Well i have ordered Cosworth SR20DET metal head gasket thought it was 1.2 but its 1.5 yaay.

Head will be off monday and sent straight off for skimming so could be back on the road by the 10th (not got many days off lol)
Posted By: spinking Re: Spin-kings 200sx - 7th Oct 2010 5:37pm

This is the 1st time i have ever done this so was a learning curve aswell lol

Drained the oil the BROWN oil lol

I tried to get around taking the head off by not taking the plenum off but wasnt to sure if it could be done after some advice of a mate who did his hg on his sr acouple of months ago i gave in and started taking the plenum off by this time i ran out of light so left the car like this aweek ago

And need to get this drilled out as i snapped it off when i put the manifold on

[Linked Image]

Got a 1.6mm cosworth headgasket for the car fingers crossed the heads not warped.

Took so many pics so i can see what goes were when i put it back together sure i will still mess it up lol

Hoping by the 17th the car will run again (not off work till then lol)
