After some time since my first post about this car, I have finally remembered to get some photos up.

P Reg Vauxhall Vectra GLS 1.8 16v

Current plans:
Set of 17" Alloys
Lowering (maybe)
Clear side repeaters

But apart from that...who knows

Anyway, here it is:

Posted By: Civic_Coupe_Sean Re: Tony_1985: Vauxhall Vectra GLS - 15th Jan 2008 4:21pm
Haha people say the engines are shit but yours and my mates proves them wrong smile

Iv always had a soft spot for them tho, Dunno why lol.
Posted By: Tony_1985 Re: Tony_1985: Vauxhall Vectra GLS - 15th Jan 2008 4:23pm
its the Ecotec engine

supposedly the better one
Posted By: MattLFC Re: Tony_1985: Vauxhall Vectra GLS - 15th Jan 2008 4:36pm
Nout wrong with Ecotec's, they will last a long time with just basic maintenance, not exactly bullet proof like a derv, but one of the better petrol's!

Lookin nice and shiny now fella, I wont be down the rock tonight, will see it at the next meet though I guess?

smile
Posted By: Tony_1985 Re: Tony_1985: Vauxhall Vectra GLS - 15th Jan 2008 5:07pm
didnt say there was anything wrong with the Ecotecs

and yeah, i will be at the next meet, where ever it may be
Posted By: MattLFC Re: Tony_1985: Vauxhall Vectra GLS - 15th Jan 2008 10:58pm
Lol I know you know that there isnt, just aimed at anyone who think's their shit smile
Posted By: Tony_1985 Re: Tony_1985: Vauxhall Vectra GLS - 16th Jan 2008 12:14am
there's always someone who hates the ecotec engines

this one's still running strong even at 180k

but i think that this is a recon engine
Posted By: Pomp Re: Tony_1985: Vauxhall Vectra GLS - 16th Jan 2008 12:17am
very nice buy, will have to see this at the meet as it was too cold to go out tonite
Posted By: Civic_Coupe_Sean Re: Tony_1985: Vauxhall Vectra GLS - 16th Jan 2008 12:25am
Seen this in the flesh today and i have to say it was a BRAGIN smile

I know I haven't updated this for a long time, BUT....

BAD NEWS

RIP VECTRA

At 2am this morning.

Back end of the car slid out on me due to the state of Chester's roads. Icey and NOT gritted
Slid off the road and hit a lamp post head on at about 40mph.
I was under the speed limit !!

Just got back from Chester A&E.
A little sore. The seat belt did its job. Chest is going to bruise quite nicely, and they think I have sprained my thumb, so another bruise due to appear there.

I have pictures of the road (including the icey patches). Going up to the car tomorrow to collect my belongings, and will get photos of whats left of the car.

Emergency services on scene within a couple of minutes (All 3).

Pictures to follow.....
Posted By: Waddi Re: Tony_1985: Vauxhall Vectra GLS - 29th Oct 2008 6:10am
woah, gutted for ya mate, but glad that your still in one piece, at the end of the day its a peice of metal that can be replaced, all that matters is that no-one was seriously hurt.

Gutted matey - at least your still in one piece...
Posted By: BMW Joe Re: Tony_1985: Vauxhall Vectra GLS - 29th Oct 2008 10:09am
Gutted mate

Could have been worse though.
Posted By: MGCraig Re: Tony_1985: Vauxhall Vectra GLS - 29th Oct 2008 10:15am
Ouch... Glad to hear your ok mate happy

Conditions were getting bad last night, so no doubt you wont be the only one to have something happen to ya.
Posted By: Tony_1985 Re: Tony_1985: Vauxhall Vectra GLS - 29th Oct 2008 10:19am
funnily enough, there were 2 other RTA's in the hospital last night

and the family whos wall i narrowly missed came out at the time and said im not the only person to spin out on that corner last night. but the 1st to actually hit something

not very good news. but it shows the council need to do something about that stretch. at least gritting it would be nice

apparently the damage to the car was quite excessive for a front end smash. i haven't seen it properly yet. head was up my arse at the time

going up to the car this afternoon
Posted By: Tony_1985 Re: Tony_1985: Vauxhall Vectra GLS - 29th Oct 2008 12:34pm
its being collected by the insurers in the next couple of days

so i had better get what i need from it
Posted By: BMW Joe Re: Tony_1985: Vauxhall Vectra GLS - 29th Oct 2008 1:00pm
any pics fella?
Posted By: Tony_1985 Re: Tony_1985: Vauxhall Vectra GLS - 29th Oct 2008 1:04pm
just waiting for a mate to run me up there

will get some up later on
Posted By: MattLFC Re: Tony_1985: Vauxhall Vectra GLS - 29th Oct 2008 1:08pm
Shit man thats bad, glad ya safe and well, only the car is hurt, as already said, you can get another car no problem.

Where abouts was it? I cant remember exactly where it is as I don't know Chester, but about two years ago on a road towards the city centre part, I saw two cars spin out on the same bit of an icey road in the same night, neither of which seemed to be doing excessive speeds etc...

It amazing how dangerous an ungritted road can be to even the safest of drivers.

smile
Posted By: Anonymous Re: Tony_1985: Vauxhall Vectra GLS - 29th Oct 2008 1:27pm
sorry to hear about this Tony. like everyone has said you can get another car wink
Posted By: Tony_1985 Re: Tony_1985: Vauxhall Vectra GLS - 29th Oct 2008 1:41pm
the crash was actually mickle trafford which would be the A56 Warrington Road

Leads from Chester through Mickle Trafford and on to Frodsham

Thinking about just getting it out of Autolift and stripping it. Will get more money for it than the insurance is going to give out.

Just need to enquire about release/storage fees and the cost of the recovery from Autolift to my address
Posted By: Tony_1985 Re: Tony_1985: Vauxhall Vectra GLS - 29th Oct 2008 3:05pm
Right, i have a load of photos of the scene and one of the car

Just waiting for Scott to email the rest over (my camera battery went dead), then i will have a look through a post a couple up

so does anyone have any vauxhall steelies with tyres going cheap ?

Posted By: MattLFC Re: Tony_1985: Vauxhall Vectra GLS - 30th Oct 2008 2:58pm
Check the local scrappys mate, even if you can only phone up. See what they have in. Do you think you will try and get the car as well as a payout to break, or you just gonna jib it off now?

Do you have your NCB protected?

smile
Posted By: Tony_1985 Re: Tony_1985: Vauxhall Vectra GLS - 30th Oct 2008 3:34pm
no protection on the ncb, its 3 years

getting the car back to break mate.
going to have a chat with the insurers tomorrow about it
Posted By: MattLFC Re: Tony_1985: Vauxhall Vectra GLS - 30th Oct 2008 4:25pm
Whatever happens with the insurance, best advice I can give in my experience is to stand ya ground and don't let them intimidate you, although ya only gonna need that advice if you decide to claim financially on the insurance of course.
Posted By: Tony_1985 Re: Tony_1985: Vauxhall Vectra GLS - 30th Oct 2008 4:55pm
going to have an injury claim going in

my passenger is thinking about doing it too
Posted By: MattLFC Re: Tony_1985: Vauxhall Vectra GLS - 30th Oct 2008 5:26pm
If one person is doing it, ya may as well both do it (providing the passenger is also injured of course lmao laugh ) as it wont adversely affect you next premium any further iirc.
