dazza your nuts man. 2.0 not the silver top. go for a blacktop out of a focus or even an ST170
Posted By: Dazza Re: Dazza: Fiesta SI - 12th May 2005 8:46am
There is not much difference between the Silvertop and Blacktop engines except blacktop is an alloy block (Silvertop is cast) and a few other bits and bobs.
The Silvertop has stronger pistons and if skimmed will be satisfactory for a Zetec Turbo conversion but that isnt on the cards just yet!
Posted By: Rennie Re: Dazza: Fiesta SI - 12th May 2005 1:12pm
plus the silver top fits right in the engine bay with only swapping the bits off the 1.6 onto the 2.0 block wink looks good mate

mines coming off the road 2morra for the 2.0 to go in it smile

yeah ive seen that on a few cars and it looks different and has a purpose aswel. also completely legal (i think) as the inside lights are only 'driving lights' the outside ones are the main/dipped etc

There not used on my morrettes at all, both headlight and sidelight are included in the same lens (The outside one). The inside is mearly for looks

Wounder were your getting the 2ltr from.
Posted By: scoop Re: Dazza: Fiesta SI - 6th Aug 2005 6:32pm
Tell us some details on the 2.0 mate.

What is it from
What sort of adaptation do you need to do to engine bay/loom

Gonna be one rapid motor when its in. Think u shud get at least 150BHP from it then go and show ford ST dept how to do it properly
Posted By: Dazza Re: Dazza: Fiesta SI - 6th Aug 2005 8:37pm
Not going to say too much incase some of the plans dont go about. Its a 2.0 silvertop (found in early Mondeos) and is basicly the engine that was in my Escort.

The difference now is I can use 2.0 parts/management seeing his Fiesta and Mondeo share the same PATs (I know it can be done on Escorts but as far as I know only 2 people have done it).

Am going to experiance Torquesteer aparantly and seeing as I need new wishbones am opting for New Ford wishbones with a camber adjuster (Courtesy of Area 6 aka Fiesta Frenzy)

The engine is 136BHP at standard, am getting reprofiled cams to KentCams spec which will give an estitmated extra 12BHP but with more livley throttle responce and high revs.

Am not going to give you all my shopping list as money is tight at times like this but ill currently be running the IB5 gearbox but may upgrade to the MTX75 at a later date once all is running well.

On top of that iv bought some 4WD Cosworth calipers (Need pads and discs now) oh and a charge carrier.

Watch this space

It goes on fine, thes not too much difference in bore diameters. I cant wait for the RR session either just to see what bhp iv got to play with

Also i heard the book 0-60 time on the Fiesta ST150 is 7.9, if thats true I wants me a race

Thought id bump this topic to the top - You can view my 'mods' thoughout these pages, including me tinkering about with the engine laugh

heres a few 'little' mods am trying to source:
EGR removal - Will increase low-end torque and give a raspyer acceleration, also said to improve BHP by about 5.
2.0 focus inlet - Now this is the daddy, only 2 people to my knowledge have managed to adapt this to fit but i know exaclty how just trying to get one, will improve BHP by about 8bhp at least laugh .

Also forgot to mention, The 2.0 revs to 8200rpm with alot of lowdown torque - The fiestas revmeter only goes to 7krpm laugh

I'll dig some more pics out in abit

What the hell is EGR? Is it that thing in the manifold.holes and shit.RS2K guys always talk about weldin up the holes in the manifold that ford put there for economy

Focus intake manifold u on about?
Posted By: Dazza Re: Dazza: Fiesta SI - 2nd Nov 2005 8:04pm
Yes thats it smile Basicly Exhaust gases are recycled by putting them back into the inlet. In laymens terms yes you are welding them over

and yes again a focus inlet (or maybe a escort zetec-e if i get desparate)
Posted By: scoop Re: Dazza: Fiesta SI - 2nd Nov 2005 8:08pm
Reckon a 2.0 Mondeo inlet manifold would help my 1.8?

how much of a gain ahve u noticed form the inlet change?
Posted By: Dazza Re: Dazza: Fiesta SI - 11th Feb 2006 9:21pm
Its noticable and worth doing - I dont know the exacts but am hoping 140bhp minimum from the mods
Posted By: scoop Re: Dazza: Fiesta SI - 11th Feb 2006 9:22pm
would it improve the 1800 escort engine, which already uses a very similar inlet, only the fuel rail is different, side fed. Also, jsut how bad are side fed injectors???

BTW,u reply really fast
Posted By: Dazza Re: Dazza: Fiesta SI - 11th Feb 2006 9:25pm
I dont know if it would help, the ECU would read wrong so I personally wouldnt risk it.

Side fed injectors are only bad for the fact that there harder to get hold of. Fiesta Turbo's use them but you need to mod the whole injector rail to get them to fit, and you need the regulator too.

Most jap cars use top-feds

Nothing wrong with a standard length gearstick. Cutting it off wont change the throw on it (As said to you in the past) so if I was to do anything id sooner get a short shifter.

Expect quite a few updates once my things arrive wink

Yes i do have something nice to say. if u remember i very nearly voted this as car of the year two years running and love the car,all except the gearknob thats longer than my leg. i have a wierd thing against old ford gearknobs on theyre massive shafts. When did u put the XR/RS fron on dazza. What u doing with ur Si bumper that had the massive fogs in
Posted By: Dazza Re: Dazza: Fiesta SI - 18th Nov 2006 10:35pm
Still got said bumper, it was removed as I didnt want to distroy it on the track. The XR one was fitted awhile back (Previous owner sprayed it themselves frown but am not bothered about looks).

All good things to those that wait. I'll reveal all tomorrow

Posted By: Dazza Re: Dazza: Fiesta SI - 19th Nov 2006 6:16pm
Yea I have a chrome breather tank, just need to fit it.

Right, I have bought a standard 2.0 Focus Zetec manifold. After 3 times of being let down with manifolds I re-thought my original idea and bought this. It is a 4-1 manifold that will give more torque higher in the rev range (4-2-1 gives more torque low in the rev range, the Zetec is already torquey low down so I want torque throughout the revs). With the bores being identical to the engine I wont have a restrictive exhaust system anymore (That will give me some more BHP).
[Linked Image]

Also to compliment the manifold I have a full exhaust system that was from a race/rally car. It is truely a straight though system with only 1 re-packable silencer (To keep within decibel limit) and side exit exhaust. The side exit should comeout half way between the O/S rear arch and O/S door. *Note* I do not have the manifold shown.
[Linked Image]

Just need to get and modify a Focus downpipe and am ready to fit it on the car. With this fitted I expect say 150bhp and say 180lbs of torque

Love the idea of a side exit exhaust.Take it its ready to be fitted to a mk3.5 fez so u wont have to worry about re-shaping? Like that manifold too,was it expensive?

not to start an argument but i have 3 points

a)just cos i never voted it car of the year doesnt mean i think its anything other than good, i love the car, only dislike the long gearstick
b)constructive critisism and opinions make the world go round,if everyone kept theyre mouth shut or just said "i love it" all the time the world would be a boring place
c)i say nice things about things i think deserve nice things saying about them, such as the exhaust, the skirts, the seats, basically, the whole car,and there isnt enough praise in the world to give to lawton whos car i voted car of the year

Posted By: Dazza Re: Dazza: Fiesta SI - 19th Nov 2006 8:59pm
First things first, Make another topic or spam someone elses as I DO NOT want it in my MMC. You didnt have any option of voting it this year as I decided not to enter.

BACK TO TOPIC

Yes the exhuast system is for a Mk3 so is a direct fit. It was originally made by Tony Law, he made that tasty manifold in the pic that I do not have. He makes one off manifolds and in the world of rallying has a very good reputation for the products he does. The Focus manifold was bagged at a bargin price and its only done 15k (May sound alot but there wont be that must carbon inside it, plus a few thousand would have been bedding in miles).

May have some other bits yet, I decided to tell you of these now as they will arrive Mondeo hopefully (Should have been Friday)
Posted By: MrPhil Re: Dazza: Fiesta SI - 19th Nov 2006 9:58pm
any more progress with the down pipe? if needed i can decat it will be on msn on monday night.
