can you take the cat off you escort. or is it part of the manifold i'v got to get one of a rs2000 so i can take it off
Posted By: Dazza Re: Dazza : Ford Escort Mk7 - 20th Jul 2004 9:45am
Yeah you can de-cat the Escort, i know the Fiesta Zetecs have a Cat mounted in the manifold. Just been reading somewhere that the cats tend to **** up a lot on the escorts which leads to power loss. Interesting

went to the ford shop today if you get the manifold of an auto it dont have the cat on it
so you can get a bypass

Cool. Gatta few little plans for the s'cort but I think ill be struggling to finish them by USC - Will try tho! At this moment am ringing around trying to get a 1800 or 20000 zetec throttlebody - Neovo you should try this mod, it helps the engine breath better if acompanied by a Induction kit and exhaust.

Cheerz Daz106 and Paz - Am coming down on Thursday so hopefully you can 'check it out!'

throttle bodies at d tweeks ar 150 quid each but you need the ecu aswell thats about 400 all thet will give you about 40 ish bhp

sweet car
Posted By: lazy_ben Re: Dazza : Ford Escort Mk7 - 21st Jul 2004 8:08pm
if you use bigger throttle bodies, you'll also need to get a power boost valve. because youre increasing the air flow, you'll need to increase the fuelling too (and maybe a new throttle cable for better response)
Do you know what size your escort throttle body is? if its 42mm one, i wouldnt mind takin it off your hands wink - if not i can always get one off a smahed up puma

I ended up sticking the 2.0lt Throttlebody on - I read that sometimes it makes it run lean but its working fine. I know what you mean about a powerboost valve, me thinks thats on my list of 'To do's'

Neovo - I take it they arnt the standard parts hence the price!

Lazy_Ben what litre is tha KA,cos am gonna keep my old 'body' but i only paid 15 notes for the 2lt from a scrappy, a worthy investment me thinks

my ka's a 1.3. Its possible to fit 42mm and 50mm throttle bodies with an adaptor thingy. But for the bigger one of the 2, I'd need bigger injectors, otherwise its pointless. I'm gonna have a look around some scrappies later on to see if i can find anything.

has it made much difference to performance daz? are you using much more petrol because of it? laugh
Posted By: Dazza Re: Dazza : Ford Escort Mk7 - 4th Aug 2004 10:15am
Its a worthy mod to do b'cos it rev's faster than b4. Petrol consumption 'seams' the same ---- HAVE A NEW ICE INSTALL - CHECK IT OUT AT THE MEET ----

Tryin it get it 2gether for USC, beleive theres 1 space left on the stand smile
