I'll be moving to the area in next few months and just wonder if there are any specialists there, who can do repair work, as and when required - any recommendations, please?

Well yes......... but any 205GTI owner will tell you that parts sourcing and specialist knowledge on the foibles of these now-elderly cars is whats needed!

So i'm seeking the guys who 'feel the lurve' for these particular cars - i'm sure they are out there!

Alright jack, I know a place that specialises in these and mercs, benza autos on Beaufort road Birkenhead.

Pretty sure the lad that runs it has his own 1.9 GTi 205 as its always there.

You would think so but I had a gti6 and most parts were interchangeable from other std 306's, gearbox and engingine are the only major differences, but if they fail its cheap enough to sorce a 2nd wanger and any mechanic can fit you that!

always thought only the gti-6 came with 6 spd box and all the other range were only 5 spd !!

just wanted to clarify as not all bits fit across the range as you say !!

have owned a few 205 gti,s myself inc a turbotechnics 1.9 and was a great little rocket and loved the lift off oversterr too hahaha

True, just the 6speed box and a slightly more powerful engine than the std 2ltr range (internals etc) but that 6speed box didn't half play havoc on the turning circle. I dont think you'll have many problems where you go tbh bud thanks to ebay and such!

hahha true mate did look at converting my 205 to 6 spd but was also told about the bus-like turning circle ,which put me off hahah
and am sure it was just the cams and throttle body that were different on the gti-6 too iirc
Thanks Woodsie - can't find PM unfortunately, can you plse. re-send?
