I hope its not the limit at the road works at the start of the m62 that protects the non existsant work force. I could have lost my licence by now along with the rest of the motorway users.

It was national speed limit but due to the number of accidents (and things being thrown from bridges), the speed limit was reduced.

It would be a sensible limit if people anticipated the end of the dual carriageway and were aware that there might be queueing traffic at either end because of the roundabouts instead of thinking they can do 70mph right to the very end.

A 50 limit means the stopping distance is shorter and less likely of a shunt.
