Does anyone know where the TDC is located on a 99 plate 1.6 Scenic. It's the one where the battery is crazily under the drivers seat.

Having trouble starting the thing, it will go in the end and looking at forums etc seems this needs either cleaning or replacing.

I must add i'm an idiot with engines and have pm'd Chris as he deals with me car but if it's easy will have a go meself and save from paying Gilly about £1000 and being ripped off again *

*JOKE Chris is sound really

The tdc sensor is on a small banana shaped bracket. If you look on the right hand side of the engine just below the air filter.

You need to remove the air filter to get to it!!

OK as I said a bit thick. About 6 months the car wouldn't start at all, just lights on dash no clicking or nowt. Phoned AA and they sent RNW out. The fella put in the thing to check the comp on the car and it was all clear, he wiggled a wire on the back of the engine on the passenger side and it started straight away, is this the same thing ?

Yeah should be fairly easy for you to do...I could certainly change mine if I had too, and I'm a girl...hehe!!

Not sure what that wire could be at the back of the engine...personally I'd check all the connections, they can work loose in some cases.

By the looks of the sensor its just 2 nuts and an electrical connector.

It wont be hard to change, its the getting to it that could be an issue... think

had exactly the same thing on my mrs' megane scenic. part was £21 and was quite easy to do. took me about 30mins. if you took it into chris im sure it wouldnt take him as long to do. its quite a common thing on the scenic's apparently.
