Go to Mc Coys scrap, they will sell you what you need at a lower price than new. Lot of engineering companys weigh in their offcuts etc, some good sizes in there

roachfords he's a fabricater that does loads of steel work for contracter's and i used to get loads of galvanised steel of him for welding and he was dead cheap as has loads of offcuts and galvy is better than steel in that if you leave it outside it won't rust away and it can be welded plus once it is you can treat the weld areas and the repair panel won't rust like normal steel.
he is off poulton road in wallasey in the side road opposite the old kwiksave just by somerville primary school.

when getting any metal make sure you use the right grade as if it's to thick you won't be able to bend it easily and you need thicker steel for floors and chassis rail's
