thinking of doin a front mounted intercooler, how much gain would i get based on a 200bhp car

Depending on size, I upgraded mine and it gave me 7% of standard bhp. It's a cliche, but it does 'unlock' extra power.
PS, I used an Isuzu truck IC for £30 I bought several years ago!! smile

An intercooler is "free" power - your not adding any more fuel to get a BHP gain.

They can increase lag (to to extra volume that needs filling with pressurised air) but you will get more power and repliability from the car.

The intercooler will also allow you run more boost as you can cool the charge better...

Itll protect your engine aswell, always good. Lower charge temps = less det.

If its a kit i agree, have a go yourself. If not it shouldnt take a bodyshop more then a couple of hours if it involves any bodywork.
