The two-seater – which costs a whopping £174k – is based on the limited-edition 8C Competizione coupé, but it’s fitted with a powered canvas roof to keep weight down and lower the car’s centre of gravity. The chassis has been beefed up to account for the lack of a lid and there are vast new carbon ceramic brake discs.

Under the bonnet, there’s one of the finest engines in the business – a Ferrari-made 4.7-litre V8 that revs to a howling 7,000rpm, thumps out 450bhp, will nail 0-60mph in just 4.5 seconds and tops out beyond 180mph.

Its one thing for VAG to do platform sharing, but for Ferrari, Alfa and Maserati to do it? Thats just wrong.

Gorgeous car nonetheless, but having watched the Clarkson video with it in, i couldnt help be dissappointed. And id want the full on F430 engine aswell.
