The drivers window on my Land rover freelander has given up. I know the problem, the wire that goes through the mechanism thingymajig is all frayed and wont go through. What i dont know is what to do. Have been told we are looking at about 200 quid for a new mechanism.

Would i just be better buying a door from a scrappy maybe? thumbsup

might just be the motor on the window mechanism?

Try ebay, probably less than £20

Check the supply to the motor first if the cable is frayed

As Joe said just go the scrappy, take your part off first tho so to avoid return trips if the part is wrong.

More than likely it will be a few bolts holding the mechanism in, and around 10screws/bolts holding the doorcard on. Take care removing as not to damage the doorcard if it overhangs the top of the door.

Must be quite common - they do a wire repair kit for the Freelanders smile

I think this tends to happen when you forget about ice in winter and try to wind down your window. The motor does its best but its glued closed with ice. Happened on the Picasso. Got new motor and bob was our uncle.
