my girlfriend has just bought her 1st car, its a v reg 5 door corsa GLS with central locking. she got given 2 keys, 1 proper vauxhall 1 and 1 plain silver 1 (like a spare) but the proper vauxhall 1 doesn't lock or unlock the doors it only starts the engine. does anyone have any ideas y the spare 1 can lock and unlock the doors and the proper vauxhall 1 doesn't?

any help would be greatly appreciated

previous owner too lazy to change the barrel when they did the door locks

exact same problem with my vectra, but it was me who did the locks wink

so does that mean the ignition barrel has been changed and the locks? like stolen or broken into? if we get a new ignition barrel with the locks off the same car and the correct key itl all work then?

could mean anything mate

most of the time its usually just down to the locks and age
could of had the locks tampered with

yes, if you get the ignition barrel, door locks and boot locks with the correct key it will all work

you will also need to swap the immobiliser chip in your current key with the one in the new key, or get the immobiliser ecu out of the donor car and fit that into yours

easier to put up with it as it is mate
and get 2nd keys cut for the ones you have

Timpsons here in Ellesmere Port do coded keys for about £25, and none coded for £6
