The historic Le Mans 24 Hours sportscar race looks set for one of its closest battles in years this weekend.

Audi, who have dominated this century, face their biggest threat yet in a determined challenge from Peugeot.

Both are racing diesel-engined cars, and Peugeot are hopeful of ending Audi's four year run of wins.

Scottish Audi driver Allan McNish said: "I believe it's going to be a fierce, head-to-head battle from green light to chequered flag."

McNish, who drove for Toyota in Formula One in 2002, is hopeful of winning for the first time since 1998, when he was driving for Porsche.

He is part of an impressive Audi driver line-up, which includes his co-drivers Italian Rinaldo Capello and Dane Tom Kristensen, who has won the race a record seven times.

Have always loved Le Mans...One year Im gonna go and see it in Person. With my Uni Course as well, could end up working for a Le Mans team eventually thumbsup
