my missus' car is group 20, nah just kiddin (obviously lol) - think it's like group 4 or 5

G12 on mine, Rovers were always higher than equivalent cars of the time becuase their engines were more powerful and partly because the quality of components used was quite high.

I think that fact that most models during the 80's and 90's were Rover influenced Honda's in disguise added to it as Honda's always seem higher too.

Group 4 for our Fiesta 1.4.
Posted By: Civic_Coupe_Sean Re: Insurance groups - 30th May 2008 7:13pm
I can't believe my Honda Civic coupe 1.5 lsi is group 14 lol
Posted By: MattLFC Re: Insurance groups - 30th May 2008 7:21pm
Could be to do with desirability, I know a VTS is G14 and their a pile of wank lol, but they do become a target such is their popularity amongst chavs etc...

You could also find that the security, at standard, is very lame. I know this is one area Rover's where always punished, because they were always rated upon the Honda setup, even though all Rovers, even the lower models, have alarms, immobilisers and deadlocks as standard.

The cost of engine parts could be an issue to, the 1.5 may be a more expensive engine to source parts for, especially major parts.

i know wot u mean... that's where these fukers make their money and crap drivers of course
Posted By: turbo_stu Re: Insurance groups - 30th May 2008 10:44pm
everything is declared cage, engine etc so this years cost me 1700. i did a quote without the cage and saved £400 but that was with a different insurer who offered me 2500.
Posted By: MattLFC Re: Insurance groups - 30th May 2008 11:05pm
By cage i take it you mean rollcage?
Posted By: Davey_Martin Re: Insurance groups - 30th May 2008 11:44pm
rollcages are seen as a false sense of security as far as i know (put a friend off a few yrs ago - quite a few yrs ago infact - with his ax gt lol)

so bumps the price considerably alone

Mines a G3 I think..

I can remember seeing a 1.6 Saxo VTR and a Ford Puma...both 1.6...but the Puma was group 11....and th saxo was 9 !!!!!

Was a few years ago that...but baffled me none the less
Posted By: Davey_Martin Re: Insurance groups - 30th May 2008 11:56pm
how much u pay mate?

both saxo and puma are like rank?

i was surprised i could have a focus 2.0 zetec (0-60 9.0 secs) for the same price of a polo 1.4 16v (10.5 secs 0-60 lol) insurance wise (£1k)

preferred the look of the polo but want something real cheap to run tbh for first year of driving at least lol
Posted By: MGCraig Re: Insurance groups - 30th May 2008 11:58pm
I pay 800 for mine mate.....998cc....but with one claim
Posted By: Davey_Martin Re: Insurance groups - 31st May 2008 12:00am

Posted By: MGCraig Re: Insurance groups - 31st May 2008 12:03am

Posted By: Davey_Martin Re: Insurance groups - 31st May 2008 12:05am
i passed almost 3mths ago, 24 now, 25 in 6mths lol - yes, i was lazy... and skint ha ha
Posted By: MGCraig Re: Insurance groups - 31st May 2008 12:07am
I got my driving lessons as a birthday present...think my folks are happy cos it only took 17 lessons...lot cheaper than it could have been...

still doesnt explain the ridiculus prices fo car insurance...I thought Id be razzin my Impreza round next year
Posted By: Davey_Martin Re: Insurance groups - 31st May 2008 12:12am
u had no bumps? first yr drivin?

i had double the lessons u had (mainly due to the first instructor trying to milk me which was evident not only by my opinion, but that of my later instructor who got me passed first time)

gf is 340 a yr with me on her insurance fully comp for a 56 plate fiesta (1.25) - only £20 more than she was payin without me on it which doesnt make much sense lol

soon have my own car to worry about tho lol
Posted By: MGCraig Re: Insurance groups - 31st May 2008 12:47am
Nope...took me into my 3rd year before a bump in an asda car park..we were both at fault...bt I got the blame. I didnt claim....but the other Grrr did.

My car was always in my mums name..and I was a named driver...but now its in my own name...so should see it drop as time goes by
Posted By: Davey_Martin Re: Insurance groups - 31st May 2008 12:50am
always the way, if i bump into someone in my venture, they are always going to be blamed imo.... my fault or not lol... unless i drive into them obviously lol
Posted By: MGCraig Re: Insurance groups - 31st May 2008 12:52am
well....he was speeding in the ar park...and I apparently wasnt paying due attention....so yea...all I know is....my Car was fin, save scratch on the bumper..and broken tail light.....whereas his left side was written off...

Good Ol Jap for ya
Posted By: Davey_Martin Re: Insurance groups - 31st May 2008 12:53am
and logic never showed he was goin the fastest? lol - did these insurance ppl do physics at school?
Posted By: MGCraig Re: Insurance groups - 31st May 2008 12:55am
clearly not...I thought it was a one way...which turned out it wasnt...but the direction you go folowing those arrows takes you into the one way...and he wasnt parking I an tell you..

Plus the fact his car stopped a few good metres from mine....would have suggested higher speed than normal.....but nope....let get as much money from the youngsters as we can !!!
Posted By: MrPhil Re: Insurance groups - 31st May 2008 3:01pm
Mi_Craig, Saxo Vtr's are group 7 same as the 1.25 fiesta's.
