hi guys, just on a friends pc at mo, update,
I was in bed at 6:45am and just heard a big bang, looked out the window and seen some bird looking at her car and shaking her head with her head in her hands, as my car was the only car parked on the road at the time i thought "oh shit" went outside and to my horror it was confirmed, she had smashed into the back of my parked car after "adjusting her mirror"!
She shunted my car about 3 feet forward and it had a good handbrake, so she must of been going some speed!
Her car looked worse than mine, totaled front n/s damage!
Birds eh!
pierce panels have my car, the axles bent, both back wheels are bent inwards, bumber, light, reflector, quarter panel and floor smashed, no way insurance will pay for repair
Waiting for an independant accessor to view the car and give me a price on how much i will be getting for it.
Until then i have a peugeot 307 hire car to run round in.
Pickertons accident management are dealing with it all and are gonna get me the best price possible.
I have an invoice saying i paid £2700 for the car 3 weeks ago from a local garage.
I`ll let you know how i get on

Gonna buy the XR2 back, throw a new axle and suspension on it and get it mint again
Pierce panels says he can fix it no problemo, so i1ll be doing the mechanics part of things.
Nice! low suspension, adjustable shocks, ss exhaust, 4 branch, disc brakes all round methinks
Just a thought for now, not sure wether to keep it original or not

Keep the bodywork original but uprate the running gear. like you have said above. get as much grunt as you can from it.

just hope i can scource an axle quick, theres an f reg one on ebay 4 parts but the guy won`t sell the axle

the running gear got the grunt of the impact, not to bothered about the bodywork for now, just want to get it on the road again so trina find an axle.

got car back, currently in kwik fit gettingn checked to see if it needs jiggin, qouted £500 to do all the bodywork, think i`ll just fix it and flog it, getting valve stem oil seals done for £75 then the cars mint! goodbye xr2, now i want a turbo propelled vehicle i will get another one, probably in the summer

Dunno if the thing will be weakened by being bent back into place, but it looks fine.

Love it, will it pass an MOT, was it a write off, if so did it need a VIC ??

I dont think it needed a VIC because the insurance company never asked for the logbook? The agreement was they paid ste out, and he could pay for it to be repaired etc.

The VIC doesnt check the standard of the work anyway, just that the work has been done and the car isnt a cut and shut. I think they only need to do a VIC if the insurance company has siezed the V5? Not sure on that though.

No ANPR plod have said anything to him and he had a few behind him since he fixed it.

Not sure on the MOT front, as I say, I dont know if it will have substantially weakened it or not, as usually it retains most of the strength being bent, but weakens it more when its bent back?

Well only time will tell.

If car wasn't a write off cat B or C then no VIC will have to be done, if he was paid a cash in lieu then he is free to do as he wishes with the car.

As you say the bending back is the killer not the original bending.
