i dont know if anyone can help here what the problem is at the weekend i tried to fit my amp and base box in my car till i hit a problem now i took this amp and box out my old car and no it was working when i took it out its been out me car for a bout 8 months now so i tried fittin the amp first and its just coming on now ive tried all the wires and there fine checked the fuses in the wire from the batter to the amp and there fine i earthed it up well and still no power,
now i dont know if this can contribute to the fact that i carnt get it on but when i had all this set up in my old car i wired up a switch from the amp up to the dash so i could turn it on and off from there, could this be a reason it could not be comin on because i never tryed connecting the switch up this time around or does the amp reset its self when being disconnected the amp only cost me sixty quid is it worth trying to get this fixed or just buy a new one

might be an internal component thats gone like a fuse or sumthin.

I take it the power light doesnt come on? As the connections to your sub or whatever may be dodgy.

no the lights not coming on at all but i knew it worked when i took it out last

probably easier scrapping it mate, unless you know of someone who can do electronic repairs

i think ill just scrap it

I can do component level electronics repairs.

Just a note tho, have you connected any kind of remote wire to it to turn the amp on? As it'll not come on otherwise.

smack forgot to mention that, thought he already did it.

Its needs a connection to the remote (often taken from the stereo)

thats the reason why i connected a switch up to the amp because i wasent sure how to connect the amp up to my stereo is that what ya mean

ahhh just read ya post properly now.

yeah connect a feed up to it through a new switch or the old one if you havent got a remote on your stereo

yeah i was gona try that wont the amp of just of reset itself tho or will it need the switch to turn it on

needs a 12v feed to switch it on, and using a switch, you can switch it off when you're not using your stereo or dont want your sub on.

what do you mean by reset itself?
Posted By: vw_kyle Re: amp problems - 2nd Oct 2007 10:42pm
yeah thats what idone last time just ran the switch directly from the amp to turn on or off but never tryed it this time because i was just going to test it to check power is getting to it then fit a switch to turn it off and on

what i mean by reset its self is say like if you turn your home stereo on and using it then pull the plug out and plug it in elsewere and it resets its self and doesnt go back to the song you were playing but would this be different with a amp

Nope, no such reset for amps, they are either on or off!

So sort yourself a remote feed and see if the amp works wink
