As per the title.

I'm looking to go on some rides and I'm just seeing who would be up for it?

Maybe the Marin trail in Wales or somewhere like that.

Here is my baby -

Well I'm well up for a ride. I need a riding buddy as the Missus isn't bothered about bikes, or cars, or computers, or anything mechanical for that matter? Why aren't we all gay, then we can fix things till they're broke and not get moaned at! Anyway thats a different story?

So yeah, a forum ride. Maybe one of the mods can set up a tester MTB ride in the Events area? Just a thought.

many moons ago i had a clubroost stinger 14inch duel, judy 100's with a 2.5 tire on the back with a 2.2 on the front. mainly delemere riding but when i broke me nose landing face first on the double and getting knocked out, i decided to give up.
lol

Since there seems to be some interest, and just to get the ball rolling. I have put a couple of links to good tried and tested (by myself) MTB trails.

Also how does either Sat 13th October or Sun 14th October sound for a date to go riding (weather dependent)

In my opinion Llandegla is the better option, reasons being is nearer and smaller in size (I am yet to fully complete the Marin trail)

or there is Delemere Forest

Of course knowing the nature of forums and people commitments to other activities this could go down like a lead balloon, we shall have to see smile

I used to have quite a good bike, but I left it at Kyles about 1.5 yrs ago dunno what happened to it haha! Aint needed it since!

Mind you, I am getting rid of me car soon and dunno when I will be gettin a new one, so it could be a while before I would be able to come to a ride in any case.

Well what a day! The Welsh weather held out great, the air wasn’t too cold nor too hot, just the right temperature to have a good ride without overheating.

It’s been around 10 months since I last sat on my bike, and fook me I’m out of shape. My fitness really hit home on the first section of the trail as its all uphill. Well apart from being not as fit as I used to be, I only have 1 38tooth chain ring on the front so some hills are just plain impossible to get up; so I spent a fair amount of time walking up hills.

Once past the hills is where things get interesting and you start to realise why you actually came on the bike ride in the first place. Starting with small single track you make your way through a series of heavily wooded forest trails, hitting burms, small drops (if you wish to take that route) to ‘north shore’ trails (http://www.watersheep.org.uk/images/pete/public_html/pictures/OkehamptonOct2006/img_0672.jpg). All in all it was a great ride, apart for my buddies’ chain snapping which lucky for him I had my chain tool with me and was able to fix it.

The ride if cycled without stopping should take roughly 1.5 – 2 hrs, but I like to take in the Welsh air and surrounding (by walking up hills wink ) so it took me a bit longer.

When you finally get to the end, you can go to the onsite café and have a full blow English if you want as a nice reward.

10/10 ride

Only got one pic of me – not a very good one at that

As pomp says, glad you had a great day.

Whens the next time you're going?
Posted By: GaryB Re: Are there any MTBers on here? - 1st Oct 2007 12:15pm
Anytime tbh, I don't have any commitments so I can just pack up and go (well I say no commitments, I'll have to run it past the missus like, but that won't be a problem).

Let me know when you're able to go, and I'll go with you then smile
