just rang peco then to see what i can get for my car, the woman who answered asked what car, i said honda civic, she said "type r?" so i told her it is a 1.4 but its the same as the 1.6sohc straight away with no hesitation she said "no we dont do anything, bye". i know peco are sponsors and everythin but i think that was a load of crap, she was not helpful at all.

Thats a bit off, theres absolutely no excuse in my book to talk to a customer/potential customer/member of the public like that, but she may just be having a bad day I suppose, or could have been rushed for some reason.

Try again in a bit or tomorrow matey. Has anybody else had this with Peco? Im assuming it "must" be a one off as they wouldnt have been in business for years n years with customer relations like that lol.

im not holdin anythin against peco, everyone has bad days but its the first time iv dealt with peco and thats the response i got. can you call into peco or do you have to book in over the phone?
Posted By: Mark Re: peco - 4th Dec 2006 12:38pm
You can call in,
there is a intercome on the main door.

Bare in mind that Not all cars are stocked,
they tend to do main stream.

Meaining that they have to justify the devolopment etc..

Your best trying to calling again,
or visit there online shop - see if its listed there.

If not then i guess the lady - as rude as she may have
been could have been right.

That is poor phone manners there. Where is the place that u phones,is it in the same building as dave and the rolling road? or was it just some supply call centre? u cud just get a type R one and have it adapted to fit,the shape of the underside of the car is the same no? i know with mk6 escorts the back of the cat is in the exact same place on every model and the floorpan is the same shape so if u buy a "GTI" magnex exhaust it can be fitted to every 1.6 and 1.8 straight off, with a 1.3 or 1.4 it "may" need the end flange modifying but thats a 2 minute job to any good welder. Why not try a custom system from sprayforce or powerflow etc
Posted By: Rossyboy Re: peco - 4th Dec 2006 12:49pm
i dont think the back is the same, mines the EK but im assuming she meant the EP shape so i dont hink it will be the same. wheres powerflow? is that gona be expensive from powerflow or sprayforce?
Posted By: scoop Re: peco - 4th Dec 2006 1:05pm
There was an EK type R, which shud have the same floorpan as a normal EK

Powerflow exhaust can range from cheap to expensive depending on what u want,im assuming sprayforce will be the same, but put it this way. For 460 quid i had my old escort De-catted,straight thru mid section to a DUAL exit with 4x6 ovals either side of the car, altho i'd recommend just getting the backbox custom made with a tailpipe of ur choice, and then,if u really want, get the mid-box removed for more noise.

Powerflow is...i dont know, the one i went to was in coventry, but i was based in the west mids at the time so thats why i went there
Posted By: Rossyboy Re: peco - 4th Dec 2006 1:10pm
the floorplan for the EK9 type r will be the same but they are even more uncommon then mine so im assuming that coz EP type Rs are more common that she meant that

cheers for the advice scoop, might go to tweeks now coz they r a powerflow dealer.

Scotty what year is your Civic? I may be able to help

Only thing with Scoops suggestion is, using his example for example (:p) yes the exhaust system does fit BUT the bore sizes are different between a 1400 and 1800 Zetec <-- Someting to watch out for.

standard 1.4 escort system is godknows what diameter, the aftermarket system i had made up was 2 inch midsection with no silencer in it, and it fitted onto my 1.6 system straight off,and the 1.6/1.8 bores are the same, backbox sizes are different tho. If u get a type R system, theres a chance it'll be a larger diameter than ur standard mid pipe, but so would ANY performance exhaust, weather its meant for ur car or not, thats what helps with the performance, aswell as the better silencer boxes

hi there, i've got a 53 plate vectra 1.8 sri, and i got peco to build me a twin exit system cos no one else does one. they were great, i took the car to them and let them have a look, and they jumped at the project. , let me choose my tailpipes etc. i then left the car with them for two weeks when i went to america, and came back to a fantastic system. Try emailin Sales@peco, to gerry. worked for me ! cheers jonah(the new boy)

Lets clear this topic up peeps.....

PECO Dont normally sell to retail customers, they much much prefer to deal with the trade as they are there RETAIL OUTLETS !

Peco dont have a retail outlet.

Peco's customer service has always been very poor when it comes to the general public.

They are Very helpfull when they want a car for development use as mentioned above. They bend over backwards to keep the vehicle owner happy as they are getting a template free of charge to manufacture there jig for that part.

Hope that helps ??

I went in with an old Astra I had. They didn't have that at all, so said can we use your car as a template and we'll give you it for 60 quid as opposed to 250 quid.
They've got a bad reputation from the chav populace, but I thought they were really good, and the exhaust sounded good (although it only did about 200 miles on the car).
