May find time to go to this , as 'visiting arrangements' to a relative have changed ...
I must get down there and have a look rounds there to see what sort of a job they have done. I used to play down there when I was a kid, when Bromborough docks was thriving and the whalers used to come in. Before they used it as a tip it was just known as the shore that was the Shore in Shore Drive - my Dad used to practise his golf down there years ago. I thought the landfill was an abomination for being so high but it will be interesting to see how things have turned out. I'm looking forward to it now.
Me and rocks are popping down for a look see and get some pics! See you down there missy
Yes ok TC ,will be going today ,with my dog sally and rudebox is joining us ......Not to sure were the entrance is .....
Well ..just got back from this event.. Big speech from the Mayor ,Alison McGovern and 'someone else', plenty of camera's ,plenty of family's and dog's. Quite a walk to the 'summit' but very good views of Liverpool and around .We heard people saying it was just waste land with weed's,,I think it will evolve as time passes. Will go again with my family and dog..The weather was good to-day for this event ...
it was a nice walk and great to get a different angle to photograph of the Liverpool waterfront we will defo go back
shame about the lack of toilets i hope something is sorted down the line
missy/rude we tried to catch up with you but then lost sight of you
Great pics Rocks. Thanks for sharing. It's good to have a different view of the river and the L'pool waterfront.
Thank for sharing .great shots gives a different view of the river
Rocks , sorry to have missed you both ,, great photos, love the 'ducks', we did not get to the water part ...
Wow it looks very promising . Will definitely be going along to check it out after my jollies. Thanks for posting.
A couple more photos of the views..
Like your photos wally...
great shot of the waterfront wally
I may be 'on one' but all the 'pomp' regarding the Grand Opening of what is basically grassed over shite got on my nerves....hasn't Alison McGovern M.P got better things to be doing? Just my opinion.
Popped along yesterday with the kids. Nice to see the work they've done transforming the landfill site into something nice. Lovely views across the river too.
Only downside really is the Industrial setting all around the place. Some weird sounds and smells that waft across the place, and parking could be somewhat better.
I went the other day for a wander and it is a lovely walk, nice veiws.Must say ,there was at least 200 walkers on the site.
Briliant i would go back there again.
Rudebox, yes you are on one. Yes it is a pile of rubbish that's been landscaped. The park has only just opened and yes there is still a lot that needs doing before it is finished, but it is certainly better than it was before any work was done on the old tip. Lastly the site has been rented and will be maintained by wirral autistic society giving people with special needs a chance to expand their experience and skills
some pics not that good only on phone.
Thanks for posting , never saw that part.

Yes Finney, i am aware of this...I was 'moaning' about the pomp not the park itself. The views are fantastic and it will interesting to watch how the land and nature/ wildlife develops over time.
I haven't been to this spot yet, but I've seen other similar projects that start off as looking a bit mediocre. However, given a few years of help from Mother Nature and enthusiastic groups, the transformation can be amazing. I'll certainly have a blimp at the place next time I'm down.

Rude I do apologise, I read it that you were not happy with the park itself. I do hope local people and local businesses help to promote and support this venture as W.A.S Will need a lot of support in maintaining the site
Went again to-day with hubby and my dog ,saw more of the park than last time .The lake area is lovely ,lots of ducks and swans with there young .The view was brill across the water, but very windy at the summit ,don't think i will go in the winter ....lol
Was is as busy as Tuesday? Any poo bags? (Me and Missy were discussing how some people may get fed up carrying the waste and just drop the bag- for anybody wondering as there are no bins)
No not as busy as tueday, but plenty of families and dogs , 'serious' viewers with long lens camera's and binoculars...ect people were carrying 'dog bags ' ...Sticking to the 'code' so to speak '''

Oh well, thats encouraging....
One of the things they need is rubbish bins. You can't expect the great british public to take ALL their rubbish home, they just won't. This is particularly true for dog droppings.
I've not been to Bidston since that has opened, but I imagine the place will now give a good idea what the new park will look like a few years hence.
There are also problems with the access road to the United Utilities wastewater treatment plant crossing the main entrance to the site, as well as accesst ot the car park at the dock entrance which need sorting.
Perhaps the new land leading up to the A41 along the Dibbin will allow a solution to be found.
Rudebox, it's usual to have a load of speechifying etc. for these things. I dislike it as much as you do. The solution I've found is simply not to turn up for opening ceremonies.
However I can also understand that those people who fought for the thing to be put into place and worked hard to get funding etc. feel that having finally triumphed the occasion should be marked with some ceremony.
Jesus just stop your moaning and enjoy it for what it is. I've been with my kids and dog and had a really good time there. Having lived on the Wirral all my life it gave an interesting new viwepoint both across to Liverpool and also across Bebington etc.
I remember it when it was a tip, massive improvement. Great to encourage new wildlife etc.
the missus and me walk Big Ron over there every day via the shorefields entrance, love it!
Been there a few times now, the lack of bins is annoying if your dog decides to poo near the summit.
Ive not been when the carparks are open but there has been enough spaces in the little parking bays along Dock Road North.
How do you gain access to the carpark near the water front?
You would need agile people employed to empty the bins, that's if they did employ anyone on the minimum wage. I can see a big queue forming for the job of emptying poo bins for poo money.
Not going to happen, cost to much. People see someone employed to clean, they instantly make a mess to keep that person employed, well it seems like it.
Sam, the lack of bins is down to lack of funds. The park was opened on a tight budget and W.A.S are trying to raise money to improve the park and install bins as soon as possible.
Zipper, the park employs a ranger but is looking for volunteers to assist the ranger. As the park is run by Wirral Autistic Society their funds are restricted
iv heard they intend to install toilets and a gift shop/coffee shop so fingers crossed they get the funding and support
Rocks, they have toilets in the old biffa office next to the picnic area, however these aren't always open. I have heard that they plan on building or converting the existing office but again this is all down to funding and support
oh well Finney fingers crossed it grows with time and i also heard there maybe a coastal walk all the way from seacombe to eastham in the pipe line too
oh i also heard there maybe a coastal walk all the way from seacombe to eastham in the pipe line too
hmmmm not sure about a pipe line walk hun haha
i'll walk anywhere
Hi. If I want to take someone who cant walk far, is there anywhere to park where they can do an easy walk for a couple of minutes, then sit and take in a view whilst others walk on? Also, I got the impression theres several ways to get at the park. Which is the best one ( rd name or directions please) to suit my purposes?
Hi Venice easy root is Bolton rd east towards the park gate then take a right once inside the park to the car park. There is a lower levels walk with benches ideal for people with reduced mobility. Hope this help
Thanks TRANCENTRAL Im going to give it a go . Much appreciated.
Had a look on Google just now and 'drove ' the orange man down Bolton Rd East but didnt really see anything that looked like a park entrance. Went passed the green hoarding on the left and came to what looked like a dead end at 'PremiAir' on the left and 'Land and Marine' on the right. Did pass what looked like locked gates on the left on the way down on the junction with Eccleshaw Rd ,but it says no trespassers, so I doubt its that. Does seem to be a blip though with Google Earth, it misses a bit between that junction and the green hoarding, so maybe its in the lost bit?
If you look at the image dates at the bottom of the streetview screen, the pictures have been taken on 3 different occasions. The dead end by PremiAir, with the long single storey building, is the oldest (2008). A little further back up Bolton Road East, the low building has been demolished and replaced with the green hoardings (2009), then the newest is where the new housing has gone up where the hoardings were (2012). A lot has changed down there since the 2008 pics were taken! I think the new car park is located on the PremiAir site.
ok right thanks Cobby. I guess itll be a matter of going down in the flesh then.Presume by now there will be signage. Hope the road at the bottom is a damn side better than on the 2008 Google or it will be mud city come Autumn!
Thanks TRANCENTRAL. Sorted now and looking foward to going.
