Venus passing directly between the Sun and Earth just after 11pm.
This rare and beautiful astronomical event that we should all be able to see will not happen again for more than a century.

Will we be able to see it, if the sun is on the other side of the earth at that time? Where should we look?

Or flick through next weeks 'TV Choice' magazine, in particular page 46. Bottom right.

Does it matter? The info is legit, the first I have heard of this event and so thought i would share. smile

What does it matter from where the information is gleaned as long as it is shared!

Hey Rudebox - I think Granny was having a joke - as you put 11pm on your first post - rather than 11 am

A pretty rare event - just make sure you use right viewing kit

What a divvy. I nearly went outside to watch Venus pass between the Earth and the Moon. I suspect we would have been in trouble if that happened. Just shows it pays to read things properly!!

Lol Cap. I did include the date! X

Well Granny very confused. This is what I found on the link below where all the dates are given.

Night Sky Note for May 29, 2012

Tuesday, May 29, 2012
Venus is 11 degrees above the setting Sun. Look for Venus 30 minutes after sunset in the WNW. In one week, Venus will transit the Sun.

So I went outside because I didn't really know what was supposed to be going on, and as nothing seemed to be visibly happening, I thought 'stuff it' and came back in again. Now read all your post and totally bewildered. Must be an age thing!! Thanks for any help anyway. It's all going over my head now.

It gets worse. Just noticed the title of this thread and what it relates to.I thought the numbers 5.6.12 were some mathematical equation !!! Help. Not funny anymore.......
