There is no metion of booking but to be honest as WMBC don't always get things spot on,I would suggest you phone the library and ask, to be on the safe side. Then you can post it on here for all to see.

Thanks Gran, I am deffo going!
I will contact the library at my earliest convenience and let you all know the outcome, unless someone else gets there first.

Get your tickets at the library, or ring prior to the event to check they have some available upon arrival.

We planned to go and see Gav at Earlston Rd but it co incided with the Byrne Ave u.e. (always prefer Practise to Theory lol)

Mr Chappell is a wiki member, ain't he?

This is essential viewing for anyone interested in underground caves, tunnels, abandoned buildings, etc, though information for Wirral is a bit thin on the ground (no mention of the Tranmere tunnels, for instance):

Subterranea Britannica

There may also be interest in the Overhead Railway:

SubBrit

Documentary in production

Photos not seen before

Well that was a disappointment, we got turned away due to the meeting being over subscribed, we got there at about 6.45.

Maybe the next one will be at a larger venue.

We couldn't even go the pub either (which one) and we don't know enough people who we'd recognise from the Wiki.

Horse and Jockey, i think.

Get there just before 9 and a whole group will walk in, shortly after!

Have a look in earlier posts for details of the same talk at Balls Road or go to www.wirral-libraries.net as the Talks are often repeated at differant branches.

It was a lot busier than they where expecting. It was an interesting talk. You should try to get to the next one. Loads of things in it we already know about but there where a lot of other things that where new to me. It lasted about an hour and you get a free glass of wine. We also saw some rather familiar looking photos.

Thank you Rocks and Trancentral for your kind remarks. It was great to meet some of the Wiki Members and I am sorry some missed it. Greasby Library always tickets it's talks which is best. Viking talks and others fill up quickly and the usual limit is fifty tickets, thats the reason I got there before 6.30pm yesterday.

Digging deeper did post earlier in this thread of anothedr date other than at a library for the talk:'Same talk also at Birkenhead History Society on 19th April at the Williamson Art Gallery'.

You might not know it but you cannot now phone a library direct. Your call is directed to a call centre and they then ring the library you want and then this call centrephone back if they cannot answer your query.
I asked for details of meetings at different libraries but this was beyond their scope!

Such alot of new information to me came out of the talk and it was presented in a very professional manner.

One of the best evenings, some years ago,was a Circle Dancing Party in the New Brighton Caves.Tim invited us all to his home and then we went into the caves via the garden entrance. Walked a short distance and came to a wider cavern lit by candles. What a wonderful setting to dance.
My grandmother worked at Mother Redcaps Cafe, so the talk brought back lots of good memories.

Yeh really good meeting you too Trancentral. Respect goes out to certain Wiki members, because let's face it, without them the talk wouldn't have been so interesting. Also if you ever need another "helper" the next time there's an expedition I'll gladly put my name in the hat, work permitting!

If anyone is interested, Gavin will be giving this talk at Bromborough Civic Centre on the 21st of April at 1.30 PM.

It is one of a series of talks on throughout the day all part of a mind, body & spirit fair. It's £2 entry all day including the Tunnel's talk and all the other talks.

I'm not trying to advertise or anything but thought people may be interested as a few people missed out.
Posted By: paxvobiscum Re: Underground Wirral talk at Upton Library - 31st Mar 2012 6:21pm
Gavin's talk is being repeated at Upton Library on 23rd April at 7pm but you have to book in advance 0151 677 5677 £2.50
Posted By: DaveWPPW Re: Underground Wirral talk at Upton Library - 1st Apr 2012 11:38am
Gavin's going to be a busy man over the coming weeks by the sounds of it. He gave the talk for free at Greasby a few weeks ago and it was extremely popular. There was just one small poster up in the library and it filled out!
Fingers crossed he may have some new info on some Wallasey tunnels by then but I wouldn't want to drop any spoilers
