ultimate Firework display tonight about 22:00 the best place is pier head but if you cant be bothered to watch it from liverpool goto woodside, seacombe etc you can experience the colours but i doubt the bangs will be loud but you'll be able to watch it... the firework display is going to be the biggest firework display europes ever seen so try and get your butts down there to experience it.. Im gonna be a bit late cause of work but im deffo going down afterwards

well tbh..Spital isnt too far away from Liverpool..as the crow Flies......no idea where the fireworks were coming from.....but they were loud enough to be heard over the Tele...

What camera you using Whelan?

I turned the shutter speed to really slow to try and capture the efect of the fireworks, but since I didnt have a tripod or monopod, all my pics suffer from severe camera shake.

Camera shake is a pain in the arse tbh, thats why the next thing on my list is a tripod.

My monopod is good for ease of portability and an okayish solution for camera shake, but to be honest it doesnt compare to a tripod imho.

Wish I had bought a tripod instead of a monopod, id probably have gotten more use out of it, my monopod has been used 3 times in 6 months lol.

fook me, Liverpool certainly know how to party!

That was pretty impressive and well worth going down to watch.

I thought it was gunna be a shitty lil display with a couple of fireworks, and probably called off due to a single cloud in the sky or some stupid weather excuse.

I was amazed at how many people were down woodside, I'd say at least 1,000. Lots of peeps with tripods and cameras. I didn't even bother trying to take pics with my phone as they would of just been shite.

Some of the fireworks were fookin loud and loved the Bjorks shh its oh so quiet part of the soundtrack going with the fireworks, that was amazing

Lmao, what does Bjork have to do with Liverpool? Obviously it was an event organised by non-Liverpool people, there is plenty of tunes from local band's they could have used....

i was just getting video footage and clicked a few stills to see how they turned out.

I dunno lol, but it was just the soundtrack which seemed to work amazing with the fireworks, like perfectly timed with the music, but due to sound taking longer to travel than light, it was a bit out lol.

Easier to set up a tried and tested firework display than pay more and get a creative one

you an waddi were the other side of the landing stage to me.

I was expecting it to all be around the tower and the cathedrals but their displays were shit and covered by the massive plume of smoke from the ones at the Liver Building.

There must of been a hell of a lot of fireworks set up to last that long, just kept going non stop, on both cathederals, the Liver buildings and what seems to me like Crosby beach?

I was hoping for a few to come off St Johns.

i have gigabites of video to get off my camera to trim/mix n match so its gonna take me hours yet. i will have it done by the end of the week and somehow upload it to youtube. should deffo be worth it.

The camera quality is great for outside pics and Im getting a lot more out of it since Matty and Mark have been explaining all the terminology and how to use the features (thanks guys)

ISO settings upto 400 (pretty lame with quite a bit of noise)
Shutter speed from 8s to 1/1000s

and an 8x optical zoom

it takes a good quality pic for only a 3mp, better than some other 7mp I've used. it must have a good ccd.

That will also be because the lens is obviously good, plus the sensor can handle the amount of pixels being placed onto it with ease.

The problem most high megapixel cam's have is they dont increase the size of sensor's relative to the number of megapixels.

What happens then, especially with night time shots, is camera's shoot better at a lower resolution.

Ive always been of the opinion that 3 - 4mp is all anyone really needs to be shooting in unless they have a real need for large prints etc...

Gimme a 3 megapixel Kodak over a 10 megapixel Vivitar any day of the week lol.

YouTube are having massive problems atm, loads of database errors and quite regular DDoS attacks in the last few days, the video's are taking an age to process, so if its running slow thats why hehe.
