anytin my it will b used to charge up a sat nav instead of usin my ciggy lighter

An invertor will run off your ciggy lighter anyway, unless you do an install from the battery, which can be a pain and cause your battery to run down.
Do you need it because you want to run more then one thing off your ciggy lighter?
