Any reason it has to be a vaio ?
Any sata should be a similar replacement.
I guess any would do Mark the one I have just wont take an operating system also keeps telling me to load drivers but I don't have any discs for that and have tried d/loading them to no avail
Some machines need to have SATA drivers loaded before it will see the Hard Drive properly. It'll be visible in the BIOS but Windows won't see it when it's a fresh install unless they've been slipstreamed into the disc.
If you've got the OS loaded and just need a few drivers bring it into mine and we'll put them on for you as it shouldn't take long (drivers only as a quick job).
