what do you need to know?

cheers phil.
chris, my mates mrs' 2004 fiesta went to a very dodgy place to have a new engine fitted. they took a zetec engine out and put a duratec in! when the car was delivered it wasnt in the best condition with all kinds missing from the engine even though it ran. anyway, next day there was no water in the resevoir so my mate went to fill it up. as he was doing so the water started running out of the rear of the engine block. ive had a quick look, im not a mechanic though, and theres what looks like a coolant pipe missing from the back of the engine and nothing going into the radiator. i just need to know what, if im right, that the pipe is called as i'll have to get a new one for him. also where does this pipe run to. is it directly to the radiator or would it go through a heater matirx etc. ive told him it probably needs to go to a garage to sort it out but it cant be driven with the problem above, and it is also out of tax and mot now.
any help would be appreciated.
cheers
lee

They are both the same ones, Duratec and Zetec SE as found in Mk4/5/6 in 1.25/1.4/1.6 are all Zetec SE but for named em Duratec in mk6's.

As for the coolant hose it may well be a loose fittin to your matrix or block.

I can PM you details to obtain a Ford TIS CD so you can check but for the hassle you may aswell see Chris.

possibly a dodgy hose etc, could be a plastic coolant pipe, if you get stuck i can get it flatbeded to the garage for £30 wink

delta i'm aka wirralphil on vvoc, hope your vec is ok.
Posted By: delta6 Re: Haynes Manual - Mk5 Ford Fiesta - To Borrow - 16th Feb 2011 8:13am
alright phil.
yeah vec is ok mate ta. just snapped my handbrake cable which chris is going to sort out for me.
just in the process of tidying up the vec to be honest. couple of panels on mine arent the best so managed to get some bits off jase on vvoc so the transormation can start!
had to get a rear bumper off him too as the lad who had it before me has put a twin exit powerflow on the car and cut the splitter to accomodate! going to get shut of the exhaust and put a standard centre and gsi twin slash box on it. the twin is a bit loud for me!
hows your vec anyway?
have to meet up with you soon mate.
the cars popped half a dozen core plugs out, looks like when the engines been changed no anti-freeze has been put in it frown

How is the Colander, formally known as the radiator, and the heater matrix?
havent a clue until ive got plugs in, it wont fill up!
I drove for years with a bit of heater rubber pipe jammed in a core hole, with a large screw down the middle to compress it in place. It was a temporary bodge when one popped out on a motorway and became permanent - luckily I had some water with me at the time.
went to get plugs today got the wrong fecking size, hard to get the calipers in.

finally light at the end of the tunnel for him and his missus after the cowboy mechanics had clowned about with the fiesta a few months back!!!
cheers again mate.
