is it currently working or do you want it pat tested ?

Working in a fashion, can do test prints directly from the printer but i think the driver board "may" be faulty as its no longer receiving data, or the lpt port on it has blown, keep getting a data error. Have been advised to get someone to look at it an reseat all the cables?

You can get a data error if your sending the data in the wrong format too.

Have you ever had it working ?

Because a test print is really saying that its good to go.

On my plotter i have 2 formats and only one format is accepted from illustrator and similar programs.

Ive forgot what they are its ether HP and ???
i cant remember at all but i had a similar issue out the box.

I have a Graphtec so i dont know your model at all.

yeah been working fine, i do signs so know loads about the settings/software etc, have several plotters too. It was printing fine then just started beeping, so the only way i could get it to stop was to pull the lpt cable out, turned it off, back on , no beeping but now keeps showing an on screen error " data error" when trying to print, have bought new parallel cable an still the same message, have also tried usb to parallel which should work on this model according to the manufacturer and still the same error

None of the sensors are covered ?

Does the machine think there is no media ?

That's as far as my knowledge is going to go for you.

Hope you get it sorted.

as far as im aware no sensors are covered, it checks the media once you have sent a job to it then you have to confirm pressing a button on the printer its the correct vinyl colour so it cant be that, as immediately it says data error. Have spoke to local printer repairs and they dont have any experience with this type of machine unfortunately. Was just hoping to see if i could get someone to check it internally to see if they could find anything that looked suspicious. I have took the front off an all seems fine but am not so brave to mess with anything else

its weird because the comp and plotter are communicating in some way as it tells me on the pc when the printer is switched to online mode and offline mode, i just dont get it
