Have you tried Freecycle. You'd be amazed what you can get on there and all for free!
Good Luck

A word of warning ! Don't know what this "WIRE" effort is - presuming it's a second-hand (er. sorry, pre-owned) flog it cheap emporium. All well and good and I'm up for re-using as much as possible rather than heaving it away, BUT and it's a BIG but.... If any stuff you buy is mains (240v) gear, make sure that it's been P.A.T (Portable Appliance Tested) tested and bears the green, dated sticker.

Don't know if it's UK wide, but in Scotland, it's an offence to flog 2nd hand 240v stuff without a current P.A.T. cert.

SWMBO (or used to be) bought a 2nd hand cooker. When I came to wire it up I found it was a rat's nest of bare, unhooked wires inside. The outfit didn't want to take it back and refund the money..... until I pointed out the lack of P.A.T. test. Attitude instantly changed and money refunded. Bar****ds !!

It's YOUR life on the line, not theirs. Freecycle scheme is great. No greaseball is trying to make money out of you. Private individual giving stuff to you doesn't kick in the above regs., so maybe take your electrician mate with you. Better safe than sorry.

Sorry to sidetrack the thread. Carry on folks.

I wasn't impressed when I looked at WIRE's website. It sounds the same quality as freecycle but you pay for it!
