Am after some advice please.

I have been with Quinn insurance for my car since January 2014, however i wish to cancel it.
I contacted them they told me to send covering letter with my latest certificate of insurance.
So on Thursday I sent certificate with covering letter, I sent it next day delivery.

When I got back from post office the postman had posted a letter from quinn to my home address, I opened it and it was a new certificate, I phoned quinn and asked them what it was for, they said the computer sent it out, they don't know why.
I explained to them I had just sent a certificate to them as i wanted to cancel, and asked them as this one I had just received was now the latest one are they now going to ask me to send this one before they cancel my policy, they said no just destroy it, so I did.

I today have received this email from them

Thank you for your email dated 23rd May 2014.

Unfortunately the document that you have returned is an old Certificate of Motor Insurance dated 7th May 2014.

Please be advised that we are unable to cancel your policy without your most recent Certificate of Motor Insurance which is dated 19th May 2014.

Please return this to us by post to the below address with "Cancel" written across the Certificate.

QUINN - direct
Carran Business Park
Enniskillen
Co. Fermanagh
BT74 4RZ

If you do not have the most recent Certificate of Motor Insurance we will accept a Lost Certificate of Declaration form (LCD).

You can download a LCD from our website at the following link;

http://www.quinn-direct.co.uk/car-insurance/forms-documents.html

This document should be signed and returned to us by post to the above address, faxed to 028 66 347 007 or scanned and attached by reply e-mail.

Please note that we cannot cancel the policy until we have received the Certificate of Motor Insurance or LCD form, we will then cancel the policy from the date/time we receive the required document unless a future date/time is specified or proof that you have taken insurance out elsewhere can be provided.

If you fill out the LCD and email it to them that will end the policy.

Quinn Insurance went into administration I think about 18m ago, it was bought out by Liberty, an American company.

The CEO after the buyout was Patrick O'Brien, I don't think it's changed since but you'd have to look at QI's website for that.

I did that at 1am this morning, i have just come of phone with them, but they could not find email, so i emailed it to the fellas personnel work email address, and he got it straight away, he will forward it to there admin department, who don't work today but are in Monday. I will just have to wait to see what they come up with next.

Gawd - it's this sort of thing that makes you bang your head against the wall and wondering who is going mad. Best of luck.
