Q: Do police vehicles have to comply with road traffic laws?
A: In general, police vehicles must comply with road traffic laws. This includes complying with the speed limit unless doing so would hinder the purpose for which the vehicle was being used. In these circumstances a police vehicle would display blue lights and sirens unless doing so would hinder the purpose of the response (for example by alerting a criminal to their approach).

I'm not bothered when they speed. I hate it when they drive at 25mph, and I'm behind them.

Apparently, you can't be done for any road-offences if the police car that pulls you over is defective in any way, ie headlight or backlight out.
am pretty sure that if the coppers car ain't up to road standard i.e. bulbs out or **** tread, then that copper can't do you for road offences as its hypocritical, not sure for def tho!! <img border="0" alt="[cwhelp]" title="" src="graemlins/cwemotions041.gif" />
