Hi all,

whats the law regarding the front registraion plate.

Are you leagally required to display 1 because in theory at night u dont have 1 coz its not illuminated, so in the day can you be without too.

your best chattin to Paz about that matey as he was sort of pulled in blackpool and was get told by the local <img border="0" alt="[police]" title="" src="graemlins/cwemotions032.gif" /> all about number plates

Does that mean i can remove my headlamps in the day to drive around, lol......

You have to have a legal number plate displayed at anytime whilst driving on a public highway or you are liable to be prosecuted.....

A number plate is reflective, therefore it is illuminated of a night if and when a light reclects of it......

You could also think of a check list for an MOT ?

Like scooby was kidding about the front lights,
just because you dont use them you still need them?

With out a front / rear number plate you wont pass an MOT,

So you could use that as a guide
then look up the law if your still unsure.

But paz may have a bit more info on sticky plates?

And dont forget that number plates can only be of a certain FONT ?

I think i can safely say that over the last few years
lots of new regulations have come out regarding registration plates.

Summary :
You do need one front and back wink

Trust me you need one, its a £300 fine and 3 points max penalty!!!

yeh yeh you defiantely need one, just read the new max power, and the article about the prelude it talks about him getting pulled for having no front number plate..

You need a front plate, you need headlights. If it would fail the MOT, then it is illegal.

Just noticed this post, What about having 1 plate on back and 2 on front? All it is am after a sunstrip in black with my reg on it - Illegal i know but if i had that and my normal plate on (sumtimes anyway!) then is that legal?
Posted By: Scooby Re: Front Reg plate - 8th Nov 2004 7:17pm
The law states that you must have a number plate meeting the correct regulations (Size, reflective etc) but does NOT go any further than that, as far as i am aware a second number plate is 100% legal..... Possibly ask TonyMK2 to pop down the local police station to do his research bit happy

as it stands from bromborough traffic police you have to by law place you reg plate on a flat surface NOT in your car behind your windscreen as it is an obstuction there for you will be given a £30 on the spot fine an 3 point it has to be on the bumper flat!!!!!!!!!!!
Posted By: Cali_16v Re: Front Reg plate - 9th Nov 2004 6:15pm
did they say it has to be flat facing forward or flat facing up like scoobys old reg on the bottom of his bumper, just wondering for when my bumper goes on.
Posted By: Dazza Re: Front Reg plate - 10th Nov 2004 6:58pm
But some MX5's have them stuck on there bonnets - So surely I could have one as a sunstrip providing it was reflective adn so on..
Posted By: Tony MK2 Re: Front Reg plate - 10th Nov 2004 7:11pm
you can do as you wish matey but the law states that the number plate has to be on the front bumper and has to be sqaure on flat also if you fail to do this then there is a penlty to pay!!
£30 fine and 3 points

SO YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!!!

hope this helps happy
