When i first saw ZIINGA.COM [advertised on a website] i thought wow lets have a go luckily i won a £35.00 Ikea voucher for £2.21 on my first bid (free bid so no bids were bought) and thought its too good to be true, so i went to pay for the item with my debit card all went through fine but then they started asking for important documents such as home details, credit card info, copy of credit card front and back, driving licence and passport and utility bill to be sent through to them,I went to the live assistant and asked for my item but they refused and said you need to send in those documents before we can release the item, on no part of the terms and conditions does it say to provide this information, so i will not be getting the product by the looks of it, but luckily i have cancelled my debit card and told the bank about the situation + told them that it was a scamming site.I also reported it to the police and got a crime log ref number.
Stay away from ziinga.com, site don't fall in to their trap, One should really research any site BEFORE making any payments.

Ha, what other pearls of wisdom do you have to share for us?

Edit: Bit overboard getting a crime ref just because you didn't want to send them your details dude. And cancelling your debit card? You didn't even give them that info according to your post. These penny-bid sites all make their money the same way, they get people to pay for bids and the bids end up paying for the item to sell at a low value. Not criminal by a long stretch.

How did you come across that site phlegm?

Comeon, spit it out!

A quick google would suggest phlegm was correct to not give their details, e.g. "hidden" membership fees charged against credit cards.

Why would they need all them important documents? Hmmm you've done the right thing x

Paypal will request photo ID and proof of address to process some claims. Travel agents will take a note of your passport number for the plane tickets. So it's not always a scam to ask for these details, but all together, with no explaination, you should start to question the legitimacy of the site.

My sister has had a problem with Zinga, and has warned me against it, on no account get involved with it.
If it sounds to good to be true then it probably is, you get nowt for nowt.
Posted By: Anonymous Re: Ziinga - 29th May 2012 11:24am
ziinga says if you win something you are deemed to accept membership for min of 3 months @£59.95 per month !
Posted By: Anonymous Re: Ziinga - 9th Jul 2012 7:46am
lestom. what was the outcome with your sister ,did she pay the 3 months?
Posted By: Spiritdancer Re: Ziinga - 9th Jul 2012 10:17pm
Hope you don't mind me butting in Phlegm but please be careful re Ziinga, they've been conning money off people for years.
Read about all the people they've taken money from.
I had murder with them, I cancelled my card too. Bank manager told me there were hundreds of complaints about Ziinga because even though card is no more, bank is obliged to give them money if they try and take it using the account number you've given them.
I ended up paying £28 cancellation fee.
Nobody receives any items they've bought either!
Posted By: Anonymous Re: Ziinga - 10th Jul 2012 1:16pm
I refuse to pay them a bean and if the bank takes money I will complain to the ombudsman as this is sharp practise.
Posted By: Spiritdancer Re: Ziinga - 10th Jul 2012 9:48pm
Trust me, Ziinga have done their homework well, have left no loopholes open. They are aware of being investigated by police, banks and companies in different countries but still carry on, because, of wording used etc., they are doing no wrong.
I looked into the contract, the site, past complaints, every which way but loose, to try and get out of paying. Must have sent about 30 e-mails to them myself during the course of a fortnight, using all the swear words I've ever known, to no avail. Went through every detail with a fine tooth comb....and for the first time in my life, I realised that I had been conned and had to pay. Was soooo gutted.

I wish you lots of luck and please let me know how you get on.

I just posed the question about further details being required and here was the response. I called myself Miles LOL

So that explains it LOL or she could be full of shit smile

It's when you win an item then try to pay for it.
You have to fill in your card details for payment of said item as you know, if you buy something online and it's not through Paypal...... BUT.....you get the receipt and it has got at the bottom of the page, that you have now subscribed to three months Ziinga gold membership at £59.99 per month, blah,blah....then all hell breaks loose when you've realised what's happened!
Posted By: Anonymous Re: Ziinga - 11th Jul 2012 7:46am
A couple of points... they say this is a binding contract [but not A 'legally' binding contract] also I never signed anything all I did was tick a box so I do not consider it a legal contract.I will not pay scammers whatever their scare tactics. They have sent me a reminder of payment due I will not even reply to them and never give them my 'new' card details .
Posted By: Spiritdancer Re: Ziinga - 11th Jul 2012 12:36pm
Never signed anything myself either.

I caved in because I was making myself ill with exhaustion so just paid the cancellation fee in the end. Just been looking at some other stories about Ziinga and signed a petition so surely something will happen before long. They've conned 914million at least.

Really hope you do get away with it. Don't forget to put it on here please.

well today I blocked ziinga from sending me emails ..now lets see what happens?
Posted By: Anonymous Re: Ziinga - 12th Jul 2012 5:07pm
ps spiritdancer they still have your card number and can claim anytime as much as they want .. .dump card number ASAP

The box you ticked is an electronic signature and therefore binding. Also, it sounds like this site is similar to the payday loans you can get online. When you agree to take a loan (or in this instance buy an item) you are agreeing to all their terms and conditions which are fully visible on the website, it's up to you to read it and they're banking on the fact that most people won't bother. The agreement is basically an electronic direct debit which neither you nor the bank can cancel. The only way to avoid payment in the short term is to either close the account or divert any payments going in but then you will most likely have bank charges applied for a failed direct debit! Sounds like they make their money from cancellation fees to me. If you don't pay they will pass the account to a collections agency which will charge the earth! I used to work for a debt management company and know there are certain things the banks can't cancel and this sounds like one of them. Short answer, pay the cancellation fee - it's the cheapest option.
Posted By: Spiritdancer Re: Ziinga - 12th Jul 2012 9:42pm
Phlegm, I've kept the receipt from the cancellation fee. so they can't get any more money off me or I'll have them, lol.

Yes, that's why I paid them missj, albeit, very very reluctantly!
Posted By: Spiritdancer Re: Ziinga - 12th Jul 2012 9:44pm
Can't wait to see what they do now you've blocked them Phlegm!
Posted By: Anonymous Re: Ziinga - 13th Jul 2012 8:14am
I cancelled debit card and the police advise me not to pay them!
Posted By: Anonymous Re: Ziinga - 13th Jul 2012 3:33pm
Today I contacted a solicitor who confirmed that ticking a box to accept their terms was binding grrr! so I have reluctlantly paid them blood money to get out of the contract, then I immediatly cancelled my card again so they cannot take anymore .I hope this is the last I ever hear of ziinga and pray one day someone shoots the lot of them!!!
Posted By: Spiritdancer Re: Ziinga - 13th Jul 2012 6:50pm
Awww phlegm (((((((hug))))))), that's exactly how I felt.

Suffice to say, I haven't heard from Ziinga since I paid my cancellation fee. Hope it'll be the same for you.

Yes, I can't wait for the day they get their comeuppance!

Time will tell I only hope that the people who have read this awful scam take notice and pass it on to other websites who have a forum!
Posted By: sunnyside Re: Ziinga - 16th Jul 2012 5:21pm
there are too many of these kind of scams on-line, you always need to read the small print, as you say they have your card details its best if you do anything cash through paypal if not possible go elsewhere, thanks for highlighting it

The Financial Ombudsman's site is very good for advice on things like this and if you have a case they will help you sort it out anyway.

Talk about salt in the wound ,today barclays paid out another £35 to ziinga, luckily I check my account online everyday and called them , they apologized and refunded me the money saying it was their mistake!!!! so much for having a new card eh!!????
Posted By: Spiritdancer Re: Ziinga - 19th Jul 2012 7:18pm
There's a new ruling just out...you can go in bank, or phone up and get Ziinga permanently blocked, banks couldn't do it before, but they can now. If they say they can't, say you'll have to get ombudsman involved....they'll block it straightaway! I got a site blocked yesterday so am a happy bunny!
Posted By: Anonymous Re: Ziinga - 4th Aug 2012 4:41pm
Maybe I should try that ..but knowing Barclays!! need I say more??
