Can anybody explain what the following means and where do 'they' derive information from?

"info from the list held under Section 142 of the Education Act 2002"

"ISA Childrens Barred List Info"

"ISA Vulnerable Adults' List Info"

"Other relevant info disclosed at the Chief Police Officers discretion

???

http://www.isa-gov.org.uk/Default.aspx?page=401

It's from what we used to call the POVA or SOVA lists.

protection of vunerable adults
Safeguarding of vunerable adults

Same type of lists for children

The list covers the following

Employers, local authorities, professional regulators and other bodies have a duty to refer to the ISA, information about individuals working with children or vulnerable adults where they consider them to have caused harm or pose a risk of harm.

No use asking me Rude - I don't have any dealings with CRB checks apart from the fact I have one and it's clean as a whistle raftl

Everywhere they can I should imagine. Had to go through the same rigmarole for Positive Vetting, it doesn't half get personal.

Yeah but asking your mum if you batted for the other side????? and your mates.

Well, just had the phone interview for the census job and now being criminally checked........again. I've had some of the highest clearances available and they can't just refer back to them, that's what I call criminal - the waste of time and money.

CRB is not worth the paper its written on. It only shows what you have been convicted of - not what you got away with. Plus you could get it, then go out and offend, and still technically get a job....

Every 6 months i have to get mine done. I work with vulnerable adults.

Rudebox, great respect for you and others who work with the vulnerable members of society. I work in a college and every employee, volunteer and also students on care courses, undergo the CRB and List 99 checks which we pay for, but they could offend as soon as they have clearance! Why do you have to have a CRB check every 6 months - and who pays for it?

Every 6 months? I work in a school and have only had the one. think

CRBs or ECRBs don't run out as such, its up to the employer how recent they want your CRBs. Interestingly enough, a teacher that was teaching before CRBs came out doesn't need one at all until they get a new job.

I only had mine done when I started working in operating theatres - once you were in, that was the only one we had.

My previous experience (postgraduate medical education) was that doctors in training had to have their's reapplied for every 12 months.

Interesting! Suppose it differs between Agents?
To be crude, i don't have to pay for mine so i'm not arsed. Maybe it has to be 'fresh' for Indemnity Insurance??
Posted By: rocketqueen Re: Enhanced Disclosures - 12th Jan 2011 6:19am
i only get one when i get a new job...
Posted By: BandyCoot Re: Enhanced Disclosures - 12th Jan 2011 10:59am
It was just a knee jerk reaction from government and once it is in it's just like Topsy, it grows and grows. It really doesn't achieve all that much but someone somewhere has to pay for it and also a lot of those doing the checking just go through the motions they don't really take much notice of what is passing in front of them. It's a box ticker.

i work in a school had 2 crb checks in 10yrs
Posted By: RUDEBOX Re: Enhanced Disclosures - 12th Jan 2011 10:24pm
I would think that "checks" should be repeated. If you were that way inclined, wanting to abuse vulnerable people-
get your foot in the door with a 'clean sheet', gain access to vulnerable people....and so the 'access' is there.

I had to get crb checkd when iwas doing volenteer work in my sons school its still valid cos they needed someone to help out when years 5+6 went to the baths
