is that a williams?
Posted By: MattLFC Re: Pingu: mk1 clio 1.8 16v - 10th Aug 2010 10:58am
Almost, the 16v is the 1.8 @ 137bhp, the Williams is 2.0 @ 150bhp. Think they are the same F16ie engine, just different capacities. The difference to 60 is minimal though, like 3 seconds. The 16v is rapid for what it is, think the insurance group is about 12 whereas the Williams is G17, also the Williams are a lot rarer and carry a significant price premium over the 16v. For the difference in price, it's not worth it, unless you simply want the Williams for the looks and slight performance advantage and have a bit of money to burn.

And you know I love this Sean lol!

"MRG Sports" do all sorts of performance engine stuff, don't know if that is one of their chips.

cheers mate, goin well, just getting it straight, was doing the aux belt today an noticed that in the previous post, a bit worried about that tbh!
Posted By: chris_gilly Re: Pingu: mk1 clio 1.8 16v - 22nd Aug 2010 8:57pm
are all the bolts joing the bell housing and block intact and tight. sometimes there is a gap, i wouldnt worry if all bolts are there and tight
Posted By: exploding_penguin Re: Pingu: mk1 clio 1.8 16v - 22nd Aug 2010 11:43pm
its all tight in there, nothing moving around or anything.
found out that at some point the gear box has gone an been replaced with a meggy 2ltr item, the bell housings are diffrent and dont mate up perfectly but apprently ita a better box to have an no adverse affects with the flywheel exposed

Anyway of making a shield for it on the "what if" situation?
Posted By: exploding_penguin Re: Pingu: mk1 clio 1.8 16v - 23rd Aug 2010 2:18am
that was what i was thinking, like an extended sump gard or somthing, looking into it now
Posted By: MrPhil Re: Pingu: mk1 clio 1.8 16v - 23rd Aug 2010 2:44am
Just some 1.2mm plate bent to cover the opening. Or a under bonnet tray??
Posted By: exploding_penguin Re: Pingu: mk1 clio 1.8 16v - 26th Aug 2010 12:09am
apparenlty is a 1.9d box, better acceleration out of it.

bit of a mad idea came to me yesterday, while cleaning the filter on the clio
ive ordered a converter for the throtel body to make the outlet 80mm in diameter tho route the intake into the scuttle pannel(perfect heat sheilded placde for the filter.
ive seen people just use this for a cold feed, but im gonna mount the whole filter in there. need to move a few things round first tho, but at least i dont have to move the battery yet!

using the accords old kit, needs some cutting to fit tho, the car and the pipe!
