A PUBLIC meeting will be held as residents reignite their campaign against plans to build a supermarket on a pub car park.

Greene King Brewing and Retailing Ltd wants to build on the Red Cat site, in Greasby Road, Greasby.

The new buildings would be used by Sainsbury’s and Vets4Pets, but the plans have angered some residents.

A previous application for the site was withdrawn.

The pub itself will “continue to operate as normal”, according to the proposals.

Greasby Cllr Tony Cox said: “I will be joining residents and traders in their campaign against this latest planning application.

“It is clear that a supermarket would harm Greasby's local economy, making it less vibrant and diverse.”

The public meeting will be at Greasby Community Centre on January 4 at 7pm.
