Can anybody see the logic in altering the pavement by the roundabout at the top of Ford Hill, all it's doing is creating chaos. The previous pavement layout had been there at least 60 years that I remember without any problems, no doubt there's some illogical explanation from our money wasting council.

Probably the same as others I've challenged with the council.

There are transportation improvement grants (and maybe road safety?) available from the Government, Wirral sees the need to spend this money whether its an improvement or not.

I tried to ask what data (accidents etc) they based some of these decisions on and got nowhere with them.

Is it the old case of use it or lose it for the following year as they judged you didnt really need it? --- so Council spend it on whatever ill thought out thing, rather than having already identified what REALLY needs doing .

I noticed that when they had it marked out and tried to understand the logic of making it narrower. I often travel that way and make a right turn into vyner all I can see it doing is hold up the traffic behind me which used to be able to pass on the inside

How Naive you are!

Don't you realise that if you are allocated £100,000 this year for road improvements, and you only us £90,000, then next year your allocation will be cut to £90,000.

True for general road improvements but not so for non-maintenance central grants.

The scheme at the top of Singleton Avenue, Birkenhead was done under the Local Sustainable Transport Fund which is a Grant Allocation from a Central Government that has to be bid for, if you don't bid one year it does not reduce your chances of a successful bid the next year, whereas the opposite could be true.

This is not the only roads i have seen messed with, Wallasey Village as you head towards the round-about at the top of Leasowe road, near to Perrin road, the pelican crossing was there for a good many years no problem, then they deside to widen the pavement and add a two car lay bye, took the lights away, suppose at some point these will be returned, but what a waste of money, i keep telling them to change the proirity of the round-about so when coming up Leasowe road you have a give way from it, but then you have the right of way when on the round-about, as it is now you have to give way to traffic on your left after leaving Leasowe road, and a long queue of traffic. Don't get me started on the slipway from M53 down to the Penny bridge round-about!
The other waste of money i noticed yesterday was Wallasey road, they are making the pavemnet wider, on the left side, where the bus stops are.
The question i want to ask is why does it take them so long to do such a simple thing, dig a channel put kerbstones in, fill rest of pavement area job done, a team of men and machines shouldn't take any longer than three to four days, it takes this lot weeks

They have also made a mess of duke street, it's now causing chaos at the lights when the cars turning right are causing the cars behind to wait, in turn people are running red lights potentially causing accidents.
What was the point in narrowing the road? Oh, revenue from traffic tickets that's what! Typical.

I live by Dukey, utter chaos. Lorries offloading at the shops, what are they supposed to do hump it along the pavement? Cyclists not even using the new cycle path. Shop staff using the parking bays all day so shoppers can't use the spaces anyway. Bloody planning disgrace, that is if they did bother to "plan" it anyway.
