One intrepid bargain hunter is now the proud owner of 50 packs of I Can’t Believe It’s Not Butter…

A price glitch in Tesco meant shoppers were able to purchase certain brands of margarine and yoghurt at a massive discount.

Members of Facebook group ' 10 ways to have more money as a student, without working' spotted an error that meant you could buy-one-and-get-three-free on 500g packs of I Can't Believe It's Not Butter and multipacks of Oykos yoghurts.

That's a handy saving of 75%, so you can imagine the news piqued the interest of a few dairy-loving bargain hunters, who then spread the news on various money-saving forums.

While some snapped up sensible amounts, others were perhaps a little too enthusiastic. One member of the HotUKDeals forum, who goes by the name of tonyman80, claimed to have snapped up 50 packs of margarine and 22 packs of yoghurt, saving almost £134.

We really don't know what a person would do with 50 packs of margarine, and perhaps we're best off not knowing, but unless he has a massive freezer or a serious baking habit, he'll end up throwing away a lot of the money he's supposedly saved.

The glitch has since been spotted and rectified by Tesco.
