Murder arrest as hurt woman dies


A 54-year-old woman who was found with serious head injuries at a property on Sunday has died in hospital.

Cheryl Searle from Swansea, died at Morriston Hospital in the city on Tuesday. A post mortem examination is due to be carried out on Wednesday.

A 59-year-old man who was originally arrested on suspicion of assault has now been arrested on suspicion of murder. He remains in police custody.

Ms Searle was found at a property in Port Talbot.

Detectives are appealing for anyone with information to contact them.

Ms Searle was found at an address in Tonmawr in the town at around 2100 BST on Sunday.

Police sealed off the property and sent in a forensic team.

Det Ch Insp Richard Jones of South Wales Police said: "We are appealing to anyone who saw or heard from Cheryl Searle on Sunday to contact the incident room.

"We are also appealing to anyone who visited the property or anyone who has any knowledge of what happened at the address during the afternoon or evening on Sunday 19th April to come forward."
