Spectator injured in rally event




A spectator has been seriously injured after a collision with a rally car.

The collision happened at the Harry Flatters Rally 09 event this morning (Sunday) at Dixies Corner near Sennybridge in Powys.

The injured man, thought to be in his 60s, suffered serious head injuries and was airlifted to Cardiff's University Hospital of Wales.

The driver of the car also lost consciousness but came around at the scene. He was later taken to hospital.

Police have appealed to witnesses who may have seen or even filmed the accident to contact them.

Dyfed Powys Police said officers were called Dixies Corner at Mynydd Epynt, in the Sennybridge military training area at 1027 BST on Sunday.

Inspector Diane Davies said the injured man was with a family member at the event.

He was left unconscious after the collision and was airlifted by the air ambulance to the University Hospital of Wales in Cardiff.

The rally driver was also left unconscious but later came around and was taken to Prince Charles Hospital in Merthyr Tydfil.
