According to reports, his 54-year-old actor father was told that pictures of Jett's body would be sold if he refused to hand over money himself.
Senator Pleasant Bridgewater has reportedly been charged with two counts of abatement to extort and conspiracy to extort.
Member of parliament Obie Wilchcombe, a former minister of tourism and a friend of the Travolta family, was also questioned at police headquarters in Freeport.
And Tarino Lightbourne, a paramedic who was wanted for questioning, appeared voluntarily before investigators, accompanied by a lawyer.
Jett was found unconscious in a bathroom at his family's home after suffering a seizure. His father and paramedics tried to revive him but he was pronounced dead after being rushed by ambulance to a hospital in Freeport. The teenager had a history of seizures.
He was last seen on New Year's Day when he went to use the bathroom at the family's residence at the Old Bahama Bay Resort on Grand Bahama island. He was found around 10am the next morning unconscious in the bathroom.
The boy's body was cremated in the Bahamas and his ashes were returned to Florida, where Travolta and his wife, actress Kelly Preston, 46, held a memorial service at their home near Ocala. The couple also has an eight-year-old daughter, Ella.
