Supermarkets may be forced to sell land to allow rivals to open in areas where there is not enough competition.

The measure is likely to be among the Competition Commission's suggestions to remedy problems it has identified in the UK's grocery market.

There could also be a call for an ombudsman to protect food suppliers in any disputes with the big four supermarket chains.

The regulator will release its latest report at 1630 GMT.

And the government wonder's why big businesses cant be arsed with the UK... Is it really surprising? The first smell of success for a big company, and the "competition comission" are always there within minutes to slap them right back down, usually working for what seem's like bribes by smaller competitors.

Why the fooking hell should a company be punished for being successful? Not being funny, but if these four big supermarkets fooked off and closed down it would kill the UK entirely, we would become third world overnight, so why dont the government appreciate them for a change... get with the fooking times; small local greengrocers and butchers and the like have had their day, there is now 65million people in the UK and less and less time to arse about, people want convenience not "tradition".

And how the hell these detail's have been "leaked" already I don't know... oh yes I do, it's the government's spin office as usual!!!

mad mad
