A 16-year-old boy has been stabbed to death during an incident in Blackpool, Lancashire Police have said.

Sam Brown was found with a 26-year-old man on Cockerham Walk by police in the early hours. Both had stab wounds.

The teenager died at the scene while the other victim was taken to the Blackpool Victoria Hospital. His injuries are not life-threatening.

Officers will question the man later and say they are looking for a third person in connection with the incident.

Det Ch Insp Neil Esseen, leading the investigation, said: "We've launched a murder investigation and are appealing for any witnesses who may have seen anything to come forward.

"We realise an incident took place in the early hours of this morning, but we believe someone may have seen something.

"The 16-year-old received a single stab wound and was dead at the scene.

"A 26-year-old man has been taken to the Vic suffering from stab wounds, but his injuries are not serious."
