A LIVERPOOL dad was jailed for subjecting his 12-year-old son to a catalogue of threats and violence at a holiday camp.

The 39-year-old repeatedly threatened to stab the terrified youngster in front of shocked guests and staff at Pontins in Prestatyn, north Wales.

On July 12, a canteen supervisor saw the family enter the restaurant as the dad shouted “you f****** stupid b******….” at the boy before dragging him towards the food aisle.

The next morning a restaurant assistant watched as he called his son “a stupid f****** t***’ before putting him in a headlock and punching his head twice.

Later, the dad shouted at the boy, ‘You little f******* t***, I’ll knife you, you b******!”, as the youngster was lifted off his feet while his dad wrapped his arm around his neck and yanked his head back and punched his head up to five times, prompting him to spill his orange and cereal.

The enraged 39-year-old blasted: “You little f****** b******, look what you’ve done. I’ll f****** knife you, I f****** hate you!”, as he grabbed him and swung him around, punching and elbowing him.

Judge Dafydd Hughes told the dad he was a bully and jailed him for 40 weeks at Mold Crown Court.

The defendant and child cannot be named for legal reasons.

After watching the abuse, one female member of staff broke down and cried before taking the rest of the day off
A Pontins manager spoke to the dad, and when he left he was heard saying to his son: “I’ve had that f****** man over here. If he asks you, you say nothing.”

Police were alerted and when officers arrived, the dad told them: “All I’ve done is told him to quieten down.”

Yesterday, the Liverpool dad admitted five charges of child cruelty on or around July 12.

Judge Hughes told the defendant that he had given his family an abysmal holiday.

He added: “You behaved in a deplorable manner towards your son, in public,” asking how he would behave towards him in private.

Matthew Curtis, defending, said that his client was of previous good character and himself had learning difficulties.

Thats disgusting!!! There was a chance for the judge to set an example of the type of punishment given for cruelty to children yet he hands out a 40 week sentence PATHETIC. If the father is happy to show this level of cruelty in public i hate to imagine what goes on behind closed doors. How many children have to die at the hands of their parents before sentences are increased!!!!

What a horrible thing to happen for both the boy and the other people who were on holiday.
Hope he gets what he deserves in jail!

Another great day! Been to the gym, had a nice hot shower and I've just picked up a bottle of home brew off a neighbour for this afternoon. I've got a few spliffs rolled up for the XBox tournament with the lads, after which I'll muck about online with some porn and gambling sites...Damn, I love prison!

Says it all really.

Sentences like this make me sick. Where is the deterrent?

What's even more annoying is the seriousness of the offence but "daddy dearest" has his identity protected.

An innocent person falsely accused of rape doesn't get this level of protection, why should a monster like this?

His identity should be made public so that other members of the public can report any further concerns, its in the public's and child's interests to have this guy named and shamed.

yes and what happens in the future? will he change?no he will still abuse his family, and if he does this in public what happens behind closed doors? it scares me to think of what someone like him is capable of.

The trouble with revealing the parents identity is that it would simply lead to the victims identity (his son), and that would be completely unacceptable.

In this instance, while the father should be named and shamed, I think the court made the right decision in not disclosing the parents name as it protects the child. Its just the sentence handed down that is completely unacceptable.

That unfortunately is absolutely right, as ever the victim would suffer more than the perpitrator, where are we going wrong in the uk? should we take our lead from other countries? or would that be to radical?.

I think that we as a country have now gone so far the wrong way that pretty much anything would now be considered too radical.

The country has been dragged into a politically correct swamp and it will take a huge movement to get it turned around. Unfortunately the do-gooders have loud voices and louder supporters. Anyone who opposes them is now seen as a trouble causer.

Hopefully the social services will take on board what has happened and be all over the family like a rash to monitor the situation, they have a few weeks to get the confidence of the child and hopefully the mother before he is released.
